Greatest of all Time. Before, my wife would just say, "yea, yea, football is better in person, sure babe". Then she went to an Old Firm. And now she tells people, there is nothing like an Old Firm, no concert, no competition, nothing. I couldnt hear my self think. I was shaking with excitement.

The old firm game o went to was amazing...and wasn't even the best celtic atmosphere I've been involved in (lazio away)...I'm American and celtic fans were actually apologizing to me saying it wasn't a very good OF atmosphere...was still intense as fuck

Hi again from south Africa on my last trip I saw Henrik Larsson we played ranger at celtic Park and won it was to much for me to handle the tears just started coming ...made me think back to my days in the jungle with wee jinky...thinking back to my father and grand father hail hail
Arsenal fan who has worked in Italy for years. Been to the florence derby and the milan derby. They come close for noise and colour and spectacle. But I could literally feel the atmosphere at my only old firm game, the air was thick with hate and Scottish noises that could've been actual words, but I couldn't tell lol Arsenal/Spurs and all English derbies seem like children's games in comparison. Would love to go to a Boca juniors v River plate game though.

Andres iniesta said playing at parkhead was most unbelievable atmosphere when his barcelona team played celtic but also the old firm rivalry atmosphere is so ferocious most players would love to play in it if they were honest.

As a Celtic man i say this, Broadcasters buy Scottish football for the Old firm derby and both clubs now only letting 700 fans and not 7000 from opposing team dilutes this game so Celtic and Rangers need to fix this. It is spoiling this fixture and im sure most fans would agree.

The atmosphere is good but pales in comparison to a few I've experienced on the continent and from what I've heard South America, plus they manage to not have all the bigoted nonsense attached.
I agree. One of the most intense atmospheric games in the world. You are not deluded. That’s just fat ass couch potatoes talking. It’s steeped in history and tradition, when men were real men, over hundred years of it. A rivalry like no other. Don’t listen to the haters, no one else does.
football has nothing to do with the rivalry between the old firm, unfortunately it's more to do with dumbfuck bigoted fans who think their stupid religion or outdated royal leaders are better than the others. the level of intelligence on both sides really is amazing

I was in the San Siro [Giuseppe Meazza] watching AC play Sassuolo & there were only about 25,000 AC fans in the ground & they were at it before during & after the game, then I went to the Camp Nou for a CL game against Bremen & the AC fans made more noise that 99,000 fans but the Glasgow derby is electric, you can make noise but there is not a ground I have been to that generates that much venom...It's brilliant, especially when you score!

I think the Partick thistle vrs Morton is most probably the 2nd best in the world, last time I went, I got hit by a pork pie, the drunk next to me tried to urinate in a coke bottle ended up pissing all over my leg, went outside the ground and this guy was rolling around on the street, asked if he needed help, he said no he was just breaking up a chocolate bar in his back pocket. Grew up in Glasgow and have been to other derby's around the world and no bias because I grew up in Scotland but Derby days can get straight vicious. I've seen 10 year old kids jumping and beating the shit out each other! I got a stab scar or two as well but it's always been part of me and it's just so special!

Main stand in Ibrox is falling apart because they cant afford repairs, netting above to stop any debris falling.
Celtic park is a far superior ground to Ibrox, it's not even a debate.

@@JamesBond-si7xs only old firm the Buenos Aires derby seems like a divide in social class where as in Glasgow it's political and it involves religious divide. The Tifo and all the confetti etc is unmatched in Argentina but in terms of atmosphere and noise Glasgow is the loudest. Turkey is also very loud but I don't think anything compares to Rangers vs Celtic.

It wasn't fair when Celtic got the full broomloan stand behind rangers goalkeeper for years it has to be fair either both behind each others goalkeepers or both in the corner simple.
Pedro 55 but we had the other end behind there. Keeper and at half time it changes same at hampden so it would solve it.

Don't they know there's more than one Glasgow Derby?
That's why the term Old Firm is used as a term of endearment (even if the matches are anything but) to differentiate between Rangers & Celtic and the other Glasgow Derbys.
El Classico springs to mind along the same lines as the term Old Firm, that's what the Derbys are known as, and those terms are used to sell the product to a TV audience.
Celtic fans are fully entitled to call Rangers & Celtic the Glasgow Derby if they want, and Rangers fans are fully entitled to call it the Old Firm if they want.
The real important question is of course about selling TV rights.
What term makes more money...the Glasgow Derby, or the Old Firm?
I know which one i'd find easier to sell to a World wide audience.

Ibrox has been called the loudest by a fair few pundits in comparison to parkhead.
Nothing compares in the UK . I remember attending Old Firm matches ( at both grounds and Hampden Park ) where the split was half and half . In those days Celtic fans had half the main stand at Ibrox and vice versa - and when Rangers fans were also allocated a section of the old " jungle " at Parkhead . Changed days indeed , and all because the Ibrox hierarchy think the Rangers team are disadvantaged by having 7,000 Celtic fans present at their ground .

Neville played at both and said Ibrox shaded it for atmosphere. However the atmosphere at Ibrox has been ramped up from his time in my opinion - and that’s why Rangers are killing teams at home in Europe.
Uh yh none of them 'rave' about the Old Firm! To rave about something is generally to speak about it with great enthusiasm or admiration-they do not have that for the Old Firm. They all agree it's a hateful atmosphere that even scared them: never again' is not an endorsement of any experience-it's a condemnation of it.

I'll often hear people talk shite purely out of spite or jealousy that Boca v River or Red Star v Partizan is the best derby in the world but when I ask for the history or backround of any other derby they can never tell me,so how can you claim it's better than Celtic v Rangers? I guarantee every football fan in the world knows the background or history of the old firm derby. I'm a Celtic fan but I'm not biased when I say no other derby in the world can generate as much putrid poisonous hatred between 2 sets of supporters. No opposing fans truly despise each other like Celtic and Rangers. It's 100% passionate ferociously blood curdling hate and venom. Nothing else comes close
I completely agree, even though I have never experienced the match. You can tell just by the noise on the tele. I’ve also seen the lyrics of some of the chanting and that’s an eye opener myself. As an Englishman, I understand I’m not going to be popular by the green half of the city, however, the past has nothing to do with me and I always admire both clubs and cheer both clubs in Europe. I want to go to a match at Celtic, I’m not going to wear and England top or anything stupid, but would it be safe? 😝

I will definitely go, I love the culture and character of Celtic. They are absolutely massive. I’ve always said they are bigger than anything in London. They are probably third behind Liverpool & Man Utd in the UK!

There was one the had the crystal Palace fans v hibs fans rangers v Liverpool and celtic v Manchester United and the person who made the video gave it as a 3-0 english but the American guy reaction was the scottish fans are much better than the english fans and he couldn't understand how the guy came up with 3 nil english instead of 3 nil scottish. We have got a good wee product here we should invite Newcastle Sunderland and Middlesbrough and have 2 league's of 18 then tv money comes in and our team's generally do better in europe in the last 20yr scottish teams have only got to the quarter finals of europe about 12 times n mostly rangers even though we were demoted and had to work our way back up the league's we still have been more successful in europe than celtic in the last 20yr and if we reach the final of the europa that's our second final in 20yr and if we win it us and aberdeen will be scotlands most successful team's in europe. It's hard to believe that honour lies with aberdeen for now 😆

A lot of shite about the hatred , only for 90 minutes, I worked on building sites in London mid 80s and Newcastle/ Sunderland boys wouldn’t even sit with each other at lunch breaks, also Manchester/ Liverpool it wasn’t just in the football ground.

I've been at more than one old firm derby games vincent. I also went to a few of the big European nights at ibrox and celtic park back in the day and the atmosphere was electric.we think getting drunk and singing songs at each other is bitter rivalry but some of the big derbys in south america,Turkey or italy the fans genuinely want to kill each other

The Old Firm is awash in the hatred and sectarianism of Northern Ireland. For some it is pantomine, for many others it is ferocious. They couldn’t hold this game in Belfast - the demise of Belfast Celtic, due to violence, is the principle reason for the huge support that emanates there for the Glasgow club of the same name. Violence and death also occurs due to this fixture, thankfully much less often in Scotland.
I was answering your comment that other teams’ fans truly want to kill each other - it has happened and does happen due to this fixture and dating back to the early 1900s. They’re are often riots after Old Firm games in Belfast and elsewhere. Occasionally, people are murdered. It is a tragedy but it is the tragedy of Northern Ireland played on a football pitch. If there is any consolation, it is that - it isn’t just due to something as petty as a mere footballing rivalry.
Atmosphere is great unfortunately quality of football is terrible.

what is an old firm derby.............the rangers died to become 4 companies later the rangers international football klub and gave up their rights to the moniker (OLD FIRM) When playing against CELTIC ,This is why the international football klub embarassed themselves a fornight ago by staging an old firm walk through for the teams to run out of , still can't stop myself from laughing , wonder how the international football team are going to navigate the cinch walk through at CELTIC PARK........Ahahahahahahahaha

Although you should maybe have a word with Sky about the name of the game, they advertise it and sell it as an old firm and they’re pumping in the cash and pulling the strings, no sky contract means no TV money, which effectively means no Scottish league as the SFA/SPFL can’t fund it, and it might have slipped your mind but sky insisted on 4 “old firm” games a season, your kkklub as usual bows to the masses and because you’re so gullible you believe everything that they say. Bring it up at your next AGM. Personally I don’t want to be associated with you animals and I couldn’t care less what the game gets called. It lost a lot of its meaning in 2012 for me.
I get the rivalry continues because a Rangers fan is still a Rangers fan etc but given the Liquidation and the Newco starting life in the bottom Tier it was a chance for a fresh start and perhaps a chance to drop the baggage that came with the Old firm.
Unfortunately those controlling The 2angers seemed hellbent on not only continuing it but actively pandering to the knuckle draggers to curry favour with them (whilst emptying their wallets) ramping it up.
Let’s face it ,the total brass neck of running your Club into the ground was never going to end well.
The Sectarian and Anti Irish Racism was bad enough in the Old Firm Derby but the Paedo stuff is in my opinion anyway taking it to new lows.
None of it has anything whatsoever to do with the welfare of those affected by sexual abuse at Celtic or any other Club for that matter and none of it has anything to do with Football.
It’s a Social disease that has been around for a very long time in Society and the perpetrators of such things used Football among other things as a means to carry out their sordid abuse.
To use it as a point scoring exercise is beyond the pale in my opinion.
So Rangers decided to cut the allocation of the Traveling Celtic Support after watching Celtic turn up and basically wipe the floor with the Newco.
This led to both Clubs cutting away the allocation altogether and to be honest the 3-0 at Celtic Park was one of the most enjoyable Derby games I’ve seen at Celtic Park in a long time.
The atmosphere was loud,good humoured and perhaps most importantly Toxicity Free.
Two teams going at it in front of a full house with no Sectarian,Racial or Sexual Abuse related undertones.
People have died surrounding the tribal nature of the Old Firm at the hands of the arseholes who take things beyond the realms of decency.
I couldn’t care less if The 2angers never sent an away Supporter to Celtic Park again and as a lifelong Celtic Fan I’ve not once had the urge to go to Ayebrokes in any Capacity whatsoever.
Old Firm or Derby or otherwise.
I have been to Hampden for Finals though.
Is it the best atmosphere in the World ?
It could be but unfortunately because of the Toxicity and new elements brought into it post Liquidation it’s quite the opposite.
It can be the worst at times.
