such a shame the changed the allowed specifications on GS skis, watching Ligety carve those arcs years back was a sight to see. That said, knees were being blown out too frequently so I do 'get it'... the way these lads are throwing them sideways then the edges bite is impressive and takes insane 'touch', timing, strength and balls.

This video should have 5 million hits rather than 5 thousand and those hits should be by young racers. What an education this is!

Да это не техника гиганта, просто пацаны мучаются на трассе и выворачиваются из проблем )))

The word "Technique is misleading in describing this video. It implies a teaching demonstration. In the vast majority of these clips the racers are making desperate moves to recover from bad lines, loss of balance and improper upper body positioning and forcing the skis to change direction because of a tight set of gates where it would be impossible to allow the skis to make those turns on their own. This would be better titled, Giant Slalom Turn Recoveries or something of that nature.

Clearly soft snow highlights these turns/course preparation..skiveting as seen with the volume of snow being created is improbable on a 'treated' hill. Not a great example.

Recovery requires technique and is an essential part of worldcup skiing where all athletes are pushing their limits.

@@dj_617 I agree whole heartedly! I sat there for an hour and watched Marco Odermatt make just two turns over and over, one left turn that launched into a severely off camber right turn that was pure recovery from the launch. By the end of the hour he and his coaches had worked out an ugly but feasible solution. He never crash crashed but slid out several times in that hour.

Too dangerous.. Too fast.. too much inclination.. too hard snow.. bad course.. this is not a sport anymore.. old skiis and older technique were much safer and estthetic.. too many injuries are ruining even the greatest skiers.. its a circus.. skiing is a different thing.. this is sad
