  • In recent years Albert Watson has focused his attention on Fine Art and Landscape Photography. In this video we travel with Albert to the Isle of Skye for his most recent landscape project.
Albert Watson is one of the world's most successful and sought-after photo artists working today. Over the past four decades his striking portraits have appeared on more than 100 covers of Vogue and been featured in countless other publications, from Rolling Stone to Time to Interview and Vibe.
Albert Watson "I went to Skye in November and was looking for real weather - dark skies, wind, rain, mist. All the things that affect the landscape. I've been all over the world with this job, Russia, China, South America, Australia. But Skye is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Unique."

It would have been nice to have seen a couple of the finished images. Without them, I have no idea what really came to fruition.

i dont get it. its like squeezing an iconic portrait shooter into a landscape-phase one thing. sitting with 3 assistants around him in the landscape on a chair and push a button of an high-end camera? what is the message, what information shall be transported with this video?

I guess it his philosophy of photo and how to take pictures, it hard to explain and more harder to understand, for us that look like weird and stupid, but for him it something big as undiscovered world.
Hope you get the meaning with my poor english.

Hi Rainer Mirau, thank you for your feedback.
We tagged along on one of Albert's personal projects when he went to the Isle of Skye. Albert is well known for exploring many different photography disciplines, including landscapes. We very much appreciated that we were invited on this magic adventure and hope it will be inspiring to others..
Check out our gallery for some of the beautiful final results: gallery.phaseone.com/#/Landscape-wildlife/Albert-Watson/
      Hope this answers your question

      Rainer,
I agree. How do I identify with a man who has two porters for his high end medium format camera gear? This is as much and advertisement for the gear. I am more impressed with Galen Rowell.

+Rainer Mirau I agree, this video is a joke. A simple advertising.

If there is any message it's that it's not about the equipment, or even who pushes the button. It's about the man, what he sees, how he builds it into the shot, and what he captures. Those guys could carry around that expensive camera all day, but without Watson, they would probably not retrieve anything at Watson's level. I just wish they would have shown the results.

All big named photographers are like this Pretentious bullshit. One camera and one tripod. Carry it yourself. What kind of clown takes on the role of carrying a photographers tripod. Some people are desperate in life.

@@Dan-jg7zl Albert would have been 72 back in 2014... What kind of clown expects a 72 yo man to carry an big ass camera with big ass tripods through rocky hills/valleys and rivers? Assistants in almost all fields do a form of "heavy lifting", while the more experienced focuses on the bigger picture. Scratch that....higher up execs in EVERY field focuses on the bigger picture while everyone else below does the heavier lifting.
