A Midnight Purple R33 is on my own-before-I-die list because of Gran Turismo 1. Having HD footage of a 400R being used is just fantastic. What a thing!
Mikeado66 Try finding one in Super Clear Red II or Deep Marine Blue. 498 Deep Marine Blue R33s were made, imagine how many of them were 400Rs.
@@xalataf3365 There are four known examples so far in Deep Marine Blue, though could be more. Also only two Super Clear Red II examples are known of so far. The rarest colour is Championship Blue, as only 1 example is known of in this colour.
400hp in the 90s? That's a lot for that period's standard! Even still quite a lot in today's standard. Those things must be very fast back then. The owners must be very lucky!
I just built one of these in Forza Horizon 3, had so much fun using this video and wikipedia as references to build up my virtual dream car. Who cares about Supercars when cars like this still exist.

I hope it has all the great tracks tho, or at least all the F1 tracks. The old ones weren't that realistic but had a lot more options.

You rarely see such effusive joy of driving expressed by a reviewer- another reason Evo is king.
The R33 is, by far, my favourite shaped GTR. But this is the absolute nuts.
In 2020 this car shines brighter then most today.
The view of the camera on the front bumper on the ground, seeing nothing but the asphalt wiz by, passing below under the camera lens is hypnotic. I kept rewinding back just to see those 2.5 secs of that sense of speed. Moar!
It was one of the "fun" cars to drive in Gran Turismo even with stock tires/suspension, it felt really balanced, and the sound was awesome! Thanks EVO for the review!

R33s don’t get enough love, it’s either the R32 or R34, not knocking either of those cars, i love those too, but I with more people would appreciate what a beauty the R33 is

+camryt I agree completely. The 400R does make the R33 look great ( A difficult task ) Where as the R34 looks great as standard and the Z-Tune just makes it. Still a great bit of engineering though.
+camryt Stole the words right outta my mouth. Either that or mine's r34. Those grainy videos of tsuchiya and orido encompassed my early 20's. I was impressionable and it costed my license and high insurance but it was hella worth it. The r34 still remains my dream car.

Reason I feel in love with the model vs the other R32 and R34 is because I grew up wanting a 240sx 95-99 and the Nissan Silvia. The similarities is so awesome.
It's 400 horsepower of official specification, but measurement is 450 horsepower.
55 for 120,000 dollars were sold.

Yes!! more videos on older cars please. Love to hear how they compare to the newer stuff. Numerous old hot hatches, Sierra Cosworth, original Impreza and Evo, Audi 20v Quattro, Lotus Carlton to name but a few
R33's were emasculated before they got off the lot. Per gentleman's agreement, each one has a boost pill inside it. This also regulated emissions and whatnot. Take the boost pill out and you have a beast.

As suppliers of this specific 400R we can only echo Jethro's review. Its certainly a car we wished we could have kept ourselves!
At first, my dad tell me about the R35 and I'm in love with R35,after that, I know bout the skyline family. And the r34 r32 is my favorite skyline when I was 13 ,after two years... Sorry but the 400r r33 is just perfect, if I cant find one 400r then I at least need to own a gts and convert in with 400r body kit

I think there's only one other Skyline with as much legendary internet coolness, and that's the Mines R34, such a total weapon.

The view from the front is straight up *PORN* The R33 has always been my favorite of the 32-34's. Used to always use in Tokyo Extreme Racer for the Playstation 2, LOL.

+Zac Youngson They used to have waay more cool stuff. Now it's the Z, GT-R and the Nismo versions. Also Nismo versions of some boring cars
SmoothAsButter SN. Okay in the 90's they had the 300zx, the S13-S15 240's/silvia's etc. and the Skyline R32-R34 4door through GT-R. I mean they had more variations on the same car but that's really it.. Nissan now has the G35/G37 under their infiniti brand, the GT-R, the 370z so they gained a super car and lost an entry level sports car. that's pretty much it.
I still have a near mint 400R brochure from Japan. About A3 in size. Gorgeous print quality. Almost imported one back in the 90's.

ahhhh I adored that car in Gran Turismo. At the time because it was fast and yellow...but now I can appreciate it for what it is. Sure I had a 270R Silvia too and I loved the MR layout Del Sol...though not sure they ever made one in the metal.

The R33 but more specifically the 400R was the car I idolised as a kid. I'd love to be able to justify buying an old GT-R but can't yet...)
I think Nismo initially planned to make 99 but cut production short unfortunately.
(As a sidenote, the 400R was obtainable in GT1 but you had to Gold all the licenses so it was really difficult to get. The unobtainable shots you used were from a later GT game).
Bout time the r33 got some respect. Great vid, fam.

My absolute dream JDM car.
I always want to fall head over heels in love with this car when I see videos of it because, well, simply, I feel like I'm missing the boat because everyone else thinks so highly of them but I just can never understand the rabid following of this car personally. I will say this, the r34 has a nice shape to it but I still can't fully get into it aside from its looks. Do these cars have that whole forbidden fruit thing going on? There was an r32 at a meet I went to not too long ago and remember looking it at just to say that I did but boy, did it draw a crowd. I personally thought the widebodied datsun 240 beside it was cooler but eh, I guess to each his own. I just want to understand what is so cool about these cars...I mean that in all honesty.

Never liked the R33 series... It was either the R32 (lightweight, brutal monster car) or the more beautiful mean looking R34... But 400R... Yep I would love one!

You had me at Trial Mountain Jethro.
To get the 400R on Gran Turismo 1 you needed to get all golds on the license tests. Took me months but I did it.
