    At 1:15 are you using a Kreg circular saw that comes with a track attachment or is that an attachment that can be used with any circular saw? I'm a beginner-ish and am really looking for a track saw attachment for my murphy bed project that's not a million dollars 🙃

    • @ReluctantDIYers
      @ReluctantDIYers  Před 9 měsíci

      Great question Ashley! In the coming weeks I will be focusing on Circular saw content and one of the videos will be on tools like this.
      But, Yes, that is the Kreg Rip Cut circular saw guide. I am not a huge fan of it although many other people love it. Bora Tool just sent me their NGX Rip Guide, which is similar, but I haven’t used it yet.
      If you are going to be cutting long cuts on plywood or other material, the best tool in my opinion is a track saw. However, per your point, they are not cheap.
      Maybe I will release that test of the Rip guide next week in advance of my other videos so you can check it out. Let me know if you think that would help.
      Have a great day!

      @ReluctantDIYers That would TOTALLY be helpful. Thanks so much for your reply! I really enjoy building, creating and working with my hands (in ALL the crafty areas!) so I'm trying to be extremely intentional about purchasing tools that won't pigeon hole me with price or function. (Murphy bed project today, maybe scrap wood art tomorrow? 🤷🏾‍♀️) Push come to shove, there's always a Home Depot attendant who's "not supposed to make all these cuts but will help me out as long as I keep it on the low"...but it's probably time I hedge my bet lol. I definitely look forward to the video series!

    I recently bought one and quite honestly at 150$ cad its very expensive for mdf with plastic hinges , i am considering getting 4x8 mdf for 70$ and 3 metal hinges and making 36x60 table top ,plus i have 20mm drill bit , and there are better ways to fasten the top to the struts , overall i am happy with the centipede but the tops are expensive

  • @Hazardman51
    @Hazardman51 Před rokem +4

    I have the 4x8, and I like using it to break down sheet goods with foam underneath. My problem is the 4x8 is larger than 4x8 and I end up with unsupported ends. I considered buying the table tops but at $90 each I would need 4 and that’s a lot just for a topper.

    • @ReluctantDIYers
      @ReluctantDIYers  Před rokem +2

      This is exactly why I held off on buying these tops when I prolifically bought mine. Definitely keep an eye on the price. If you get the top without the dog holes, I’ve seen the price drop periodically. It’s totally worth it. Thx for watching!

    I have a Bora 4x6 and I plan to add a 2x4. I think they should have made the width a couple of inches narrower to better support a 4 foot wide sheet. I don't have the 4X8 but I suspect I would reach the same conclusion about its length as about its width.
    Although I consider that a design miss, overall I am very happy with the Centipede. For my money it offers many more positives than negatives.

    Two big complaints...The MDF tops are heavy and my other complaint is you can't combine two with the tops...IE....If you have two 4x2 centipedes you can't put them together. So if you want a 4x4 surface...then you need a 4x4 Centipede....etc. I have two 4x2's and the tops...but they can't be combined for one solid surface.

      One issue is that they don't have a clip or locking mechanism to keep it closed during transport. In general I just found the tops clunky. Maybe, if I bought the bag for them but I think those are like 50 bucks each. @@ReluctantDIYers

    OSB is not great. Sacrificial extruded foam board is nice for track saw cuts. I use the combo of those for my track saw cuts. Those table top things look pretty slick but damn are they expensive. Also one thing i have noticed that i don’t love about the centipede is there is no way to adjust height. It’s always just fully extended. If you try and do less of an extension to keep it higher, it will just slide towards fully extended every time. The expense and the lack of height adjustment are my only complaints. I’m 6’3 so i wish it would be just a little higher sometimes.

    • @ReluctantDIYers

      Great point on the track saw cuts. I prefer to use foam board for my cuts and it’s nice to do that on the Centipede.
