- It's that time on the channel again - Flood time :D Today we're taking a look at the origins of the Flood and how they came to be in depth, along with the first ever Flood outbreak, which was pretty successful for them... Sadly...
Next time, we're getting i c o n i c, and taking a look at a certain aesthetic that just feels wrong in Halo. Should be up next weekend, going to try and get it all edited this week.
Thanks a lot for watching guys C:

"yo fam we got some of this alien dust, lets feed it to dogs!"
"Hey, man. It made our dogs look shitty. Let's see what else happens."
"Oh damn, its getting a lot worse now. Meh, who cares, give them the dust."
reminds me of those Metroid Space Pirate TUUUBESSSS memes
Oh... looks like they got worse... how about we try it on other things eh?
No you snort it
I like how the forerunners tried to prove they were worthy of the mantle by hunting 2 sentient galactic species to extinction
I love how arrogant they are.
That story of humans and forerunners sounds like the Cain and Abel story
Scapegoat halo has a surprising amount of religious references
I have a theory that in the Halo Universe, the story of Noah's flood is actually humanity's understanding of the Forerunner Flood War

This is so freaking cool man. I have always wanted to know how the Flood got started. It's quite fascinating hearing how the Precursors became The Flood as well.
Something doesn't add up...The Precursors were wiped out, but ONLY one was spared; the one the Ur-Didact spoke to when the Humans were finally defeated and when he unlocked the Time Lock. The Precursor Primordial had confined himself to a cold asteroid and CREATED the flood spores which he then distributed in flasks to different parts of the galaxy (The conversation between the Ur-Didact and the Primordial confirmed this). This was also confirmed when the Librarian visited the last remaining descendants of the Forerunner Precursor war while also finding out they had evolved over 10000 years via cannibalism into different species, something the Flood spores mysteriously didn't have an effect on. Finally, when the Shield World idea of the Ur-Didact failed and when the Iso-Didact (Bornstellar) finally shut down Mendicant Bias, the Iso-Didact gave the order to fire the Halos and install Digitised humans as Monitors to maintain protocol of Flood control; the first Monitor being 343 Guilty Spark, the digitised version of Bornstellar's oldest human friend and the Ur-Didact's confidante, Chakwas.
What doesn't add up?
What he said ^
The fact that the Primordial was spared
@@yanuchiuchihaanimegamesand3907 it wasn't spared, the time capsule turned it into ash by the didacts hands.
& to be fair the forerunners probably spared the primordial, because they could not stomach the thought of intentionally genociding another race.
in fact most warriors considered this very act shameful, to such an extent that they never returned home.

Can you do a video on the Unidentified Alien Ship that crashed on the Halo ring in Halo CEA's Terminal?
Perhaps it was the Meddlers? Like, on installation 04 they crashlanded and died, however on Delta Halo they survived and broke the Flood's quarantine

I really enjoy your videos of the in depth history and lore of Halo! Keep up the great work!
Also, could you do a video on the different known Forerunner worlds (the Halos, Arks, Requiem, etc)?
I follow lots of amazing Halo Lore channels but this one topples all the rest it goes so far in depth. And I love his accent

This is perhaps one of the most succinct and easy to understand summaries of the origins of the Flood. I have found that if I try explaining it to someone who hasn't read the Forerunner saga I tend to just confuse them or they get bored before I can finish because of all the context they need for it to make sense.
ive heard this amillion times and still find it interesting af lol good job my dude
Your videos are awesome. Thanks for spreading halo knowledge everyone
BEST CHANNEL M8.
Glad you made this! I loved the lore of the Forerunner saga books, but without visualization (which you did perfectly with subtle things like the dust photos), it can all get confusing very fast. Hopefully this draws in more fans for the extended universe. I can't remember if you did any videos talking about Path Kethona or the primitive Forerunners that were there, but if not, consider it?
My favorite channel for Halo lore ! ✨
We need a Video that includes the New Precursor Dust, its connection to the Precursors, what it could mean involving the Flood, and what it all means moving forward.
Love this channel so much.
so the flood is actually the precursor’s version of composer went wrong? Sounds interesting
Love this.
So informative and easy to understand 🙂
Can you do a video on what the Sangheli thought of humans, or at least Spartans? Maybe Sangheli as a species, or notable individuals, or both, plz??
As a guy who doesn't look too much into the lore, I'd imagine the Sangheili probably simply view humans as inferior, due to the lies being fed to them by their Prophet overlords (Very few Sangheili ever learned the truth of the "Great Journey", and after what happened to Fal'Chavamee, I think it's safe to say that they didn't live very long afterwards, likely being appointed as Arbiters (Or at least what the Arbiter would become after Chavamee's death.)...). As for Spartans... I'm unsure.
@@PhineasKSliderVT while many of them did, a good number questioned why humanity was not allowed into the Covenant, as they showed great courage
That description was lovely.
1:29
Yeah that's probably why, them being pissed and not humble to even be suggested was the reason probably the Precursors went with the latter and not the ones who were most advanced
Spartan Flood....run...
impossible
Matsui [雪] you hope
that spartans can get infected
According to lore, Spartans can't get infected. This is why Avery got out alive, as they "didn't have a taste for him"
Alex K Yeah I know that now
That was very good, it reminded me of watching prometheus (the origin story of alien).
The more I delve into the lore of Halo, the more I see parallels with the Alien franchise.
I'm a bit confused. Someone once told me that the precursors didn't become the flood but created it to attack forerunners but when the precursors were killed off, the flood were uncontroled and began attacking not only forruners but all living things.
343 found it prudent to screw the lore with cheesy concepts like magic space dust and ancient humans rivaling the forerunners yet leaving zero trace of their existence. Bunch of bs.
@@ALLAHALLAHism it's not magic space dust, it's a virus space dust. As for why there are no evidence for the ancient humans, the forerunners destroyed every trace of their technology and devolved their society to the stone age. Furthermore they fired the HALO array meaning any organic traces were wiped out.
@@yanuchiuchihaanimegamesand3907 but that's a really dumb explanation and a waste of valuable resources. It's as bad as a cop out as the explanation for the flood being in halo wars then being completely destroyed to keep in line with the original canon of the flood first being discovered in halo ce. You mean to tell me while the flood was ravaging the galaxy they expended resources to make sure there was no trace of human history??
@@ALLAHALLAHism The Flood was not ravaging the galaxy. They were only ravaging human-occupied space. The Forerunners only knew the humans were acting desperately and irrationally, without realising what drove their expansionist strategy. So they wiped out humanity and their culture, only to then discover the Flood.
They really need to make a game detailing the beginning of the flood and the war against ancient humanity
Kaileena is a Precursor disguised as a human and powerful enough that even her dust can use neural physics. She was just less malevolent than the others considering the Flood infection from her dust was beyond her control, unlike the others who weaponised it.
Really good lore videos.

Is it possible for 2 graveminds to combine into one?
That would be fucking terrifying
No...
Not a bad theory.

I found this channel by accident about a week ago. Really enjoying this shit m8
Ayyy thanks my man, it was a happy little accident
so you mean to tell me that a couple of space dogs were given some angel dust...and that created the Flood. Yeeaah...so deep.
Well that was... darker than I ever imagined it could be.
I already love the video by the title
I haven’t watched one of your videos in so long I missed it
I've watched this playlist several times now😂
Some say one precursor or a hybrid crossbreed of one and a human survived, and set up shop with an anachronistic mix of medieval & neural physics technology on an island not far from the Middle East after humanity's devolution by the Didact, before turning to Flood dust herself upon her death.
Dude i hate to be that guy but i do notice you have lisp. In spite of that Lisp you do an amazing job with your videos and i love your flood lore videos. You truly do have a talent for lore video's and i look forward to more lore to come.

Great video of explanation but my questions is... How exactly did the dust become corrupt? Any explanation on that?
I love your content but here is one thing, can you list all the sources you gathered your information in the description. I liked how you at least showed the book trilogy but, it could be nice if you listed where you found these short halo clips such as, 3:34. Btw, again love your content and I hope to see more.
hi HiddenXperia love your halo lore. I was wondering way the flood in game use the humans, sanghile, and brutes as combat forms. but what would the flood use grunts for?
One could wonder if hiddenxperia is actually a gravemind/keymind with all the flood videos he makes.

I have never heard 9f the precursors before in any official lore including the Halo encyclopedia
The amazing logic of forruners: Sacrifice your species and all life in existence to stop the flood, but as well as save samples of the flood......surely it will never be free and infect again.
Is it possible that some of the dust from the Precursors wasn't infected and that some of them may regenerate to their former selves at some point?
Probably, through sheer statistics it's likely
Halos campaign gameplay moves so fast for me, I never understood the story until the third game
It wouldn't be a Hidden Xperia video if it didn't mention the I C O N I C F L O O D.
The Ancient Humans giving an unknown drug to their dogs is the reason why they don’t deserve the Mantle of Responsibility.
SO much better than halo follower Lol keep up the great work!
@HiddenXperia I love your content but you left out 1 important detail, how did the dust from the precursors become corrupted?
Why I love halo reach is because it's so simple (not saying I don't like a good narrative), and you don't have to worry about all this ancient stuff
That old intro is crazy. But the one we got now is... MMMMM
Thanks!
I don't get another audible credit for like 3 more weeks, but what order should I get the books in?
This is why I definitely believe that in halo 6 we will see that Cortana is being controlled much like mendicant bias by a precursor using the logic plague though the domain. Using Cortana to weaken the galaxy with galactic scale war so the flood/precursors can once again try to retake the galaxy.
Letssss beginssss
where did you get the info that the dust corrupted? I always thought that it's purpose originally was to turn become the flood anyway.
Also, in which book did it mention the Primordial was capable of the logic plague, our corrupting others? in the Forerunner trilogy I remember it only talking about its ability to confuse or madden the minds of others, just by being a Precursor.
Genuinely curious, it's been a while since I've read those novels, and I haven't kept up with the most recent additions.
Thanks for the awesome videos!!
Oh I see, so the 'dust' was originally for that biological domain we see in that extra-galactic planet the Librarian travels to? That explains what you mean when you say it was 'corrupted'.
Though that also brings the question, how was it corrupted? Did the Precursors intend that? Also why *did* they punish humanity as well as the Forerunners if it was intentional?
And also, what about my questions about the Primordial?
Thanks for the reply!
Hm, interesting thoughts on the Bio-Domain. I suppose I never really knew what to make of it in the novel!
Where is the info on the corrupting powder and the Human 'test', in the novels or terminals? It makes sense, otherwise.
Ah, I did know of Medicant's corruption, but I guess I assumed it was done by 'a' gravemind. I never made the link to the Primordial, even though I also knew what happened to the Didact!
Man I love those books and the H3 terminals, so much lore when the games had just been about killing aliens until then! (For me) I think Halo was the first universe I really got into, I remember when 12yr old me was amazed to discover the "Conversations from the Universe" book from H2. Good times.

1:36 What is the name of the song playing in the background? I know it's from one of the games but it's so beautiful and I want to listen to it.
Nevermind, I found it, it's from Halo 4 and it's called Haven.
Xperia, how about a video about Faber of Will and Might?
Thats good and all but how did the moist essentlial form to infection came to be?the infection form?
Dude this video was posted on my 17th birthday
Since you are fond of the flood i can't wait to here you explain there origin!
He just did that in this video :I
Okay so in the video you say that the precursors turned themselves to dust with hopes of restoring themselves to their original form. And then you say this dust became corrupted and the precursors decided to use it to destroy all sentient life. But how could they have done that if they were all turned to dust (besides the primordial) and the dust was sealed on ships. So how could the precursors have discovered the early stages of the flood if they themselves were dust packed away on ships? Plot hole or poor explanation?
poor explanation
No no, They are beings beyond our comprehension so it's not supposed to make any sense
Here's a better explanation. 343 sucks and their writing sucks. They left the realm with science fiction with this and went into the realm of magic. Ancient humans are a stupid concept and the flood were better off being an anomaly of unknown origins. Not this bullshit magic space dust. If they had to be tied to the precursors then maybe they should have be an accidental creation that they couldn't control.
Spartard ancient humans were lore way before 343. And 343 is mostly the original Halo team that splintered from Bungie. I wish you people would understand that.

so... the forerunners are good at constructing giant rings of doom, but sux at gathering intel on their neighbors either during peace or war...
The forerunners were arrogant, assuming too much. This is why they only found out the humans were destroying forerunner worlds that were infected by the flood until AFTER humanity lost their technology.
dude this is insane, I can't buy this explanation. there should have been an ancilla somewhere gathering intelligence, some sane forerunner out of the trillions that existed. some guy that examined the captured human hardware and interrogated prisoners... this plot hole can't be explained with arrogance
This "plot hole" is completely justified with arrogance. I'm just telling you what was written in the books. The Didact was basically the Warrior teir's commander, leader, God. Anything he commanded was law. The Didact wanted war, War happened. Read the books if you haven't, and watch the terminals from halo 4. The librarian and other life workers protested the war against the humans. But the Didact used the so called crime against the mantle the humans had committed to motivate the council to support his war, instead of listening to the librarian.
it is ridiculous. I'd prefer when the forerunners were a mystery.
343 changed everything
we need the floor again I never really like horror but your halo the flood game sounded so fun like the flood brought something to the game that made it great I think the flood was on reason why 1-3 where people who have played then I'm not saying saying 4-HW2 is bad but just I remember playing that one level where you're fighting in the flood ship and the last in halo 3 and halo ce I remember the library
Besides not feed strange dust to your dogs maybe give your galactic neighbor a call that a system taking infection is spreading.
And so we see the very beginning... but alas, the very end is nowhere in sight.
lol I can imagine the precursors bashing their heads and body to a wall or floor so hard enough that they turn to dust
What are the songs you use in this video? I search for them everywhere yet I can't find any answers
Halp pls
What if when the Reclaimer Saga, 343I continues and makes a (good) Flood Saga? As in, the flood is the main enemy as they rapidly take the galaxy to finally test humanity's worthiness of the mantle.
it does mention that they fed it to the pheru because they were becoming more affectionate. but they did not know that they were slowly becoming flood
Yes. It was lab experiments first, and then given to the pets when they were confident that it was "safe".
I expected the flood just to be a species of animal of a random planet who spread more and more over centuries, not rotten dust lol
I need to more know about the flood
I remember when you only had 5000 subscribers, where did the years go
This was surprisingly difficult to watch while eating. "THIS IS TOO MUCH, EVEN FOR AN ELITE (Random unintelligible and guttural sounds)"
So this is all the precursors and the Bratty Forerunners fault.
Chris 020509 not the precursors' fault
How could the ground down or powdered precursors fly starships if they were put and contained in vials?
What about the precursors in stasis
When u said they turned to dust, my captions said:
They turned into AIDS dust and I was laughing hard
They need to make a movie or tv series about the start of the flood
I thought it was theoretical that the Precursors created life. I thought they could only speed up the evolution of life.
To think halo infinite wasn't on the map at this point in time it'd crazy
