  • The beauty of Norway is that in addition to having many well known nature attractions, there are also thousands of hidden spots, ranging from hikes to view-points and fire towers (more on that later).
The climate and conditions in Norway also lend itself extremely well to a popular but relatively unassuming delicacy in Norway, mushrooms! Mushrooming (sopptur in Norwegian) is a popular activity for locals and tourists, with many spots being just a short trip from Oslo city centre. It’s common for this delicious food to be foraged and either eaten alone as a snack, or cooked as part of soups, stews, pastas etc.
Of course, not all mushrooms are edible, so we were lucky to have our very own Norwegian mushroom expert tour guide with us, to show us the tricks and keep us safe, as mushroom identification can be a challenge.
Norway actually has many famous mushroom enthusiasts, including Lars Monsen and Trond Hammerud, who have helped mushroom trips and tours to become a big part of Norwegian culture and a popular weekend or evening activity.

It’s great to have a spots map while you’re driving around.
