    I was looking into different body mounts because I got the 2X spare tire carrier and just picked up the rear bumper today so I could piece everything together when I realized my ProLine body mount kit wont work with the tire carrier.
    Around 19:35 in the video I'm curious about why you would need to cut out for the entire rotating feet for the rear catch and not just the size of the bolt carrier? It seems a bit of extra and unnecessary work. To me it would make sense just to drill the size and location of where the bolt runs through with maybe a bit extra for rotation. Basically what I was thinking, if that didn't make sense, was installing the radiator onto the body without the feet, and then assembling the fans and feet on their respective sides, with a smaller hole for the rotating bolt to run through.
    *Edit* - turns out the 2X tire carrier works with the ProLine body mount kit but still looking at this one mostly because that radiator looks siiiiick! Question still remains though if the entirety of the foot needs to be drilled out or just enough for the bolt retainer?

      Hi Bob. Thank you for your feedback. The fun part about this hobby is that there are so many ways to go about doing the same thing. Kenneth mentioned the same thing further below in the comments and we do have some valid reasons for cutting out the lock feet instead of installing them after bolting the radiator to the body:
      First, 13.5mm is a large diameter hole, one for which not many people have a drill bit or body reamer (our guide is geared towards the entry level enthusiast). Yes, it could be dremeled out or cut with an X-Acto blade but then you're basically doing the same thing as what we recommend, only slightly smaller.
      Next, we thought it would be easier to remove the radiator assembly for whatever reason by simply unbolting the four mounting screws. With the 13.5mm hole, you'll have to unbolt the fan / lock assembly each and every time, which can lead to lost parts. The slots allow the lock feet to slip out, keeping everything clean and assembled.
      Thank you again for your thoughts and I hope this helps clarify why we chose slots over holes. However, if the holes are more preferential to you, by all means please do so.

    I would recommend not cutting out the lock foot shape, instead ream a 13mm hole with a body reamer...then fasten the radiator. Next attach the lock foot on each side. It makes for a much cleaner look and is stronger. Works perfect for me...don't know why they recommend an odd shape instead of a circle.

      Hi John. Thank you for your feedback. The fun part about this hobby is that there are so many ways to go about doing the same thing. The slots allow the lock feet to slip out, keeping everything clean and assembled.
      As for strength, either option would be just as strong since the four mounting screws are where the assembly is held together, which is outside of the cut area. We have yet to hear of a single strength issue with our design and mounting method.
      Thank you again for your thoughts John and I hope this helps clarify why we chose slots over holes. However, if the holes are more preferential to you, by all means please do so.

    • @rpm.rc.products
      @rpm.rc.products  Před 5 lety +1

      The Dual Fan set-up is actually a component of the RPM No-Clip Body Mounting System. The fan shrouds themselves are the lock that holds the rear of the body to the chassis and comes in the kit.

      The LCG chassis uses the same body mounting components as the standard chassis. That means our "No Clip" system will fit perfectly on the LCG chassis as well.

  • @deathnightANIMATED
    @deathnightANIMATED Před 7 lety +1

    why cut a hole for the lock feet, when you could just install them after the radiator is mounted to the body. This would make it so that you only have to use drill bit to mount the system to the body

    • @rpm.rc.products
      @rpm.rc.products  Před 7 lety +3

      That's definitely a possibility Kenneth and if you'd like to assemble it with holes instead of slots, please feel free to do so. There are a couple of reasons why we didn't do it that way in our tutorial and instructions.
      First, using a 17/32" (13.5mm) drill bit for the lock posts through lexan is a sketchy proposition. The body is too thin and large drill bits typically grab when drilling through thin materials. Also, not many people have access to a drill motor that can hold a drill bit over 1/2" in diameter. A step drill would work great but again, not everyone has a step drill available to them. Our instructions are targeted to those individuals with minimal tools.
      Second, if you want to remove the radiator / locking mechanism for any reason, you'd have to remove the fans / lock feet at the same time. The slots in the body for the lock feet allow the radiator unit to come off as an assembly.
      Thank you for your feedback Kenneth and I hope this helps clarify the reasoning behind why we chose to use slots in the body instead of holes.

      RPM R/C Products thank you for clearifing the tradeoffs. do you have just the parts that go on the shell for sell or plan on making them available to bought separatly so that I don't have to purchase the full mounting kit

    • @rpm.rc.products
      @rpm.rc.products  Před 7 lety

      I'm happy that we were able to clarify that for you Kenneth. Unfortunately there aren't any plans to release the body shell parts by themselves. We looked into the possibility of doing that but the way they are molded simply doesn't lend themselves to being packaged separately. It would cost us nearly as much to sell them separately as it does the entire kit. With that said, I have noticed that there are numerous retailers out there selling the No Clip kits for ridiculously low prices (I've seen them for less than $20).
