- In 1986 Elektra Records released Anita Baker's "Rapture" album. It later went on to sell over 8 million copies worldwide (5m in the U.S. alone). Grammy Awards came for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and also "Sweet Love" won Best R&B Song.
Details: Written by Garry Glenn & Dianne Quander. Produced by Michael J. Powell. Recorded & Mixed by Barney Perkins & MJP at Yamaha R&D Studio, Glendale, California. Extended Remix by Ellis Jay @ Larrabee Sound, North Hollywood, California. Remix Engineer: Taavi Mote.
Chapter 8 musicians: Michael J. Powell (Guitar), Vernon Fails (Piano/Keyboards), David B. Washington (Bass). Accompanied on Drums by Arthur Marbury III (The Temptations, Aretha Franklin), on Percussion by Larry Fratangelo (Funkadelic & Parliament) and Lorenzo Brown (Hamilton Bohannon, The Floaters).
Chart Stats: U.S.A. - #37 (Billboard Hot 100), #6 (Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks) & #9 Adult Contemporary. In late February 1987, it reached #51 on the UK Top 75 Singles Chart. I thought Ellis Jay was an alternate name Louil Silas Jr used, like how Prince used Joey Coco etc on some of his remixes. Louil Silas Jr's initials = LSJ = Ellis Jay?
