Foxy Brown & Jay-Z - I'll Be (Good) [Damien Mendis D&A Radio Mix]
Commissioned by Def Jam USA President, Lyor Cohen in 1997. This Remix was produced & mixed by Damien Mendis. The bigger Rap hits of the day were delivered by Puff Daddy/Bad Boy. After hearing and seeing the success of his radio mix of The Fugees "Rumble In The Jungle", Cohen decided to enlist British Producer, Damien Mendis (pre-Gorillaz) to totally revamp the track - with the Singles Chart/Pop Radio in mind. His shrewd move paid off. The remix was used in the U.S. & also as the main radio version in the UK & Europe - helping both Foxy Brown AND Jay-Z to have their first TOP TEN HIT SINGLE in the UK & USA. "I'll Be (Good)". Swiftly turning certified gold by the RIAA for physical sales (not streams!) of over 500,000 copies and became one of the best-selling records of 1997. The Damien Mendis D&A Remix utilises samples from René & Angela's "I'll Be Good" & Blondie's "Rapture" (which were legally cleared) - thank you Debbie Harry & Chris Stein! It also features R&B vocals from Angela Winbush. The accompanying music video was directed by Brett Ratner. This video is strictly for promotional purposes only.

Mixed to perfection by Paul Staveley O'Duffy in 1987 to be included on the b-side of "Children Say" (7" & 12") in the UK. The full version has never been released on CD or digitally - because there is no-one left working at Polydor/Universal Music who has extensive knowledge of back catalogue like Doctor Rewind!!

Lionel Richie ft. Marva King - Love Will Conquer All [Shep Pettibone Extended Mix]

Much overlooked extended mix of Lionel Richie's "Love Will Conquer All". Mastermixer Shep Pettibone keeps the dreamy vibe, accentuating the percussion and rolling groove to perfection. The music was co-written & co-arranged by the piano maestro Greg Phillinganes. He also plays all the keyboards alongside Michael Boddicker. The lyric was written by Cynthia Weil & Lionel Richie. The female vocal ...

Much overlooked extended mix of Anita Baker's dreamy "Caught Up In The Rapture". Love the percussion and extra piano. Classy. Remixer, Louil Silas Jr. aka Ellis Jay always does a respectful great job (check his mix of Geroge Benson's Breezin'). This was transferred from the UK 12" vinyl release (as it sadly isn't available on CD). Enjoy and share :)

I really dig this groove. I danced so much to this record back in the day. Thank you Ralph. I bought the album for this one song and found that I liked the whole album very, very much.
Again..Chilling inside of Odell's Baltimore ..prior to the crowd flowing in ... Those were fantastic times....whew!!!!!
When you always knew that there was an extra long version of probably the freshest love song of the 80's and you finally get to listen to it..... Job done, memories returned, I can finally go happy 😊 but if anyone's of the acapella piano version 😉
Jungle brothers on the run and lettin off steam by nikki d came from here.
This is a great remix and enhances the original, love the additional instrumentation ❤
Brilliant remix which does the difficult job of enhancing the original. Now released digitally on the Cherry Red box sets.
Excellent 👍
Better get a grip and get it on...no use in complaining ...
I Discovered This Song While At A Rooftop Lounge And Instantly Fell In LOVE! I Made The DJ Play It Again😂
One of the greatest
Respect Mastermixer Shep Pettibone
I bet you better show your right about your romance!!! ❤❤❤❤
AAAAY YO DOUG DO DAT RECORD "JAM ON THE GROOVE"✔️😮
Heh Yyyyyyyaayyyyyahgggg
Great track, been listening to this since it first came out on vinyl promo (which I still own) for 33 years... still amazing. The keyboards may've been by Eric Kupper who helped Def Mix with keyboards on some of their most classic mixes. For some reason Kupper and Morales went their separate ways late 90s.
The 3:45 break IS the bomb and just realizing that it’s Jungle Brothers “on the run” (1:40) where I know the sample from. Nice!
Can anyone list all the percussion instruments used through 3:45-4:50?
Beats like this made the red people and brown people invent break dancing the oldest element in hip hop culture, so dope. #radiotronbboys
One of my all time favourites ❤
I robbed a liquor store after I heard this song
Well, at long last, I finally came across the song by Kenny Loggins that Brendas song “in the thick of it” sounds like. “Wait a little while” is the name of the song Kenny wrote. Not that it means anything, I just have a strange feeling that Kenny or Brenda were inspired by one or the other by the way they sing their music. Or I could be completely crazy. lol
El tema se presta para un duo, no solo para acompañamiento femenino en coros, si la chica hubiera cantado las estrofas sería excelente
Drums sound messy compared to the album
Frankie Foncett killer remix! Production was years ahead of its time! Flawless 🔥🔥🔥
This was the re-released version from 1985 with the Jellybean remix
I still remember the street hoodlums playing this song during summer street jams.
"Love Will Conquer All." ❤❤
This has to be the best version ever. Love this song and the extended part is amazing. R.I.P my wife Gosia, our wedding song.
