  • SAMETOP sent me their Floating Hand Grip and I wanted to see how it stacks up against GoPro's The Handler floating hand grip. In this video, I unbox the SAMETOP then use it in the waves of one of the World's largest bodies of fresh water, Lake Michigan. I let you see for yourself how these two floating hand grips keep my GoPro HERO5 Black and GoPro HERO7 Black action cameras afloat in the choppy waves. No fancy edits, no quick cuts...I just let you watch and compare the two so you can make your own best judgement.
    I found the SAMETOP Floating Hand Grip performed remarkably well and it has the added advantage of a water-tight storage compartment built-in to the handle itself. This would be convenient for keeping a few dollars safe and/or a boating license, etc. At roughly half the price of GoPro's The Handler, the SAMETOP Floating Hand Grip offers good value in my opinion.

      Very glad to have you here! Would love to know where in Canada you are located. Growing up near Detroit, Michigan with CBC’s “The Friendly Giant” as my morning edu-tainment, The National as our trusted evening news, “Royal Canadian Air Farce” as our over-the-air TV comedy and at least a couple dollars worth of Canadian coinage in our pockets at any given time…I used to think Michigan was the 11th Canadian province 🤣🫡🇨🇦!! Thanks for watching and I hope you’ll stick around 🙏👍😎!

    Hello. Do you know of any floating grip that can store an extra battery? Thanks

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL  Před rokem +1

      That’s a good question. Not only do they need to be wide enough to handle the battery but they need to be buoyant enough to handle the weight and not float too low in the water. I wish I could help you but can only speculate maybe a scuba diving supply retailer or a boating retailer like West Marine might sell more options….?? Keep us posted if you find one. Thanks for watching!

    I recently saw a livestream by Tools and Tactics, and he was saying that the GoPro cameras overheat.
    Have you ever had that problem?

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I’ve got a GoPro HERO5, HERO7 and HERO10 and haven’t experienced overheating. For what I’m doing, I’ve mostly recorded in 1080 to 2.7k resolutions and recently started using 4k occasionally but usually at 30 frames per second. The GoPro overheating complaints seem to come from users recording at 4k to 5k at 60 frames per second for 20-30 minutes straight with the camera not moving in hot Summer temperatures. Not something I’d likely ever do. Phones cameras really seem good enough a separate camera may not be necessary except for convenience not having your phone or putting your phone in dirty places, etc. If I didn’t have GoPro I might consider Sony ZV-1 or ZV-1F(??) since it seems to give better quality and is made for CZcams creators but I do like not having to worry about hurting my GoPro…they are rugged 💪.

      @@WorksIRL Yeah, I think it’s the 4k that makes it overheat.

    Can you swim with it?

    • @WorksIRL

      Yes, both of these have wrist straps allowing one to swim without worrying about losing the cameras while in the water.
