Noctua did some tests on their fans and 5mm of distance seems to be the sweet spot. Foam fan spacers and fan gaskets are readily available, no need to take apart a second fan

Generally, 5mm is "enough" for fan to not be extremely noisy, but putting more distance between the fan and any sort of grill helps increase the area of effectivity, while further reducing noise.
General sweetspot for most noise reduction along with performance gains seems to be 15mm and it works with Noctua fans too - adding 15mm helped reduce noise on my A12x25, increasing my usable rpm range from 1600 to 1850rpm.

Hmm, I got 7 of these for a Core P6 (with an Arctic II 240 AIO & Arctic Fan Hub). It's pleasant mostly, but when they rev up to MAX at the same time... wow. Especially with CPUs that normally like to run hot like the AMD X3D chips.
I swear I got the fluid dynamic bearings when I bought the five pack a few months ago, however. These are dual ball bearing?
A set of updated fluid dynamic bearing replacement fans may only cost £30, they weren't hugely expensive. Though for these I think some tuning with their max RPM needs to be done locally per use case, but they are good fans otherwise. Sitting next to a side open case gives me chills. It should be rare they need to rev up to 3200rpm, controllers will spin them up to 100% and it isn't always required. They put more air through and are quieter at 2000 rpms still. I'm sure some of the complaints were due to them not being tuned. I'm no expert, but since their rpm is naturally higher, the curve profile should be different? Until I got them managed I was ready to return them. I'll wait and see if anything bothers me and if the updated fans are significantly quieter, but I think the set I have are fine.
Just when they were all boosting simultaneously after I installed them in.

brilliant spacer idea. Use old crap fan body you would have thrown out

Print some 120mm spacers, there are yt videos about them

maybe use something to mount it with stands

It's much better to just remove these screws and put plugs (Noctua Fan Slics 4pcs). Thus, the vibrations will not be transmitted to the side cover. I don't really understand why you have a fan there at all. I don't have and don't have a problem with noise. I have 1 in front, 1 in back and 2 on top. My computer is so quiet that at first I thought it wasn't working at all. Well, on my box there is some insulation on the side panels except on one side where it is mainly a window, but that is hardly the only thing that stops the noise (Fractal Design - Define r5 Window).
