- In this video we are out just cleaning up after a winter snow fall. Trying to get a little fresh air. We are using two cameras, one outside and one in cab. We are using the BX and GL to get it done.
Every time I think that I have enough electronic gadgets on my tractor I watch one of your videos and am astonished by your awesome gadgetry. Very cool.

Lot of snow on the roof. Like the snow shovel that you used to clear the roof off. Great working with both of the tractors, thanks Paul & Kathy for sharing, I'm sure that Kathy needed some hot coffee or hot chocolate to warm up afterwards.... LOL thanks you guys for sharing and being out in the cold......

I only shovel the snow off if there's rain in the forecast. Don't want to much weight on the roof. Man you have to be sick of watching us by now lol
Good to see a Kubota at work. I have a BX 25 with a front mount blower it works great.
I only have 65 hours on our BX. It's never used for winter but we just wanted to play a little with it. Great machines. Love the BX. My buddy has a BX 2200 with the front blower. Great unit.
I know its June and I'm three years late watching your video, but you did make winter seem a little fun with these pieces of equipment. I'm always so intrigued by some of the stuff you video tape. I love tractor equipment and never actually drove one.
It gets worst, I done even know why I record half of it lol. Glad you enjoyed it.
I do the same thing at the farm I always keep the piles down and just haul it out to the field and let it melt out there. I live on a road that people travel pretty quickly on I've had two dumb asses almost take out my horses one hit their barn so since then I make sure to keep it clean out there so I can see. Kubotas are looking good your craftsmanship is second to none wish I had a guy like you with a shop like that near me is probably be broke haha

Ya people drive crazy. On our main road they drive like they are in the Daytona 500 and they might be just on their way to pick up a coffee. Crazy I guess. It must have been frightening when that happened to your horses. I would not have been happy with that! Glad they weren't hurt. It's only another six weeks and winter will be over and I can't wait. Got a few jobs to do with the tractors on the property and I'm itching to get at them. Stay safe, thanks for posting.

Thanks to you and your wife for making and sharing your video's. I agree that using a bucket isn't the best way to move snow. I used mine for the first time a couple days ago. Don't get a lot of snow at one time here in northeast Tn., so a blower is out of the question. Did find out that the tires like you have on both your tractors aren't good here in the hills. (I call it hills as the Rockies are what I call mountains) They like to slide and get you in trouble, well me anyway. I stayed out of trouble but I had to work at it. I'll be getting bar tires when I get these wore out. In case you're wondering, I have the green version of your BX. A 1026R. If we get some more snow like the past week I think I'll try the box blade and see how that goes. Thanks again and tell your wife thanks too.

I find the industrial tires great for our area but I understand what your saying. I usually never use the BX in the winter. It's for our summer work. The larger 5740 is the winter machine. I think a snow pusher on the front would be good or even a front blade similar to what I have on the big tractor. It moves snow fast. Thanks for commenting. Well we got the snow alright then it turned to freezing rain then to rain and then the winds came and it knocked down buildings under construction, took down traffic lights and there were power failures. Other than that there was nothing to it lol. I'm tired of winter as well my friend. I figure another three weeks and I'll consider it over ;)

As usual loved the video. I also subscribed finally. I just bought a new Grattex reversible plow that you looked at a while ago. Excellent product,very efficient. Just turned 300 hrs yesterday on our 5740.

Two different worlds my friend. I wouldn't be able to handle the heat and you the cold. No snakes here either and that's a good thing for me. Snow means money here. We get paid to plot it. I'd like to spend some time in the desert to see how I'd fit in. Might not want to return home lol.

Wolves aren't bad unless their in a pack. Bears on the other hand are brutal. My advice is never go in the woods alone. Take a friend. If there's a bear attack then let the bear take your friend and that will give you time to get away ;)

I have the same amount of driveway, except a 30% grade and do it with a 1995 ford F-150 with a 7 1/2 ft Meyers plow and it sucks, sure wish I had flat property or at least the tractors you do. Getting real tired of laying down sand with a shovel and 12 - 5 gallon buckets each storm !! Nice tractors !!
Nice work, I like your comment about respecting your equipment, I find the problems are after use they need to be oiled up etc to stop rust and seizure of parts which a lot of people over look.
stuart bailey Thanks Stuart. I see customers coming in the shop on a daily basis with self inflected mechanical issues and it cost them plenty to get it back in shape. I don't intend to be like them ;)

Paul, that's pretty dangerous on the roof with snow on it. I bought a lightweight roof rake online to get snow off roof from the ground. Comes with pole sections that snap together. Easy to use, has tiny rollers on edge of the rake so it will not damage the roof shingles.

Good Video! I always enjoy watching and looking for good suggestions for my BX ... What a month February 2015 was! As I've mentioned before in a post I live just 35 miles north of Boston ... I said at one time I was afraid the Boston area would go snow less this winter because I had the BX25 .... WOW was I wrong! ...we are 1.9 inches from a new record of 107.6 inches of snow. We have more snow than Anchorage Alaska!! So ... my hat is off to my BX25D ... over 40 hours of moving snow! ! .... I am not sure of I would have made it if all I had to move all this snow was my Honda HS928 ...it was great for the paths and touch up but I am so happy the powers that be gave me the ability to purchase the Kubota. I have a "Snow-farm" in the side yard from the 125 feet of driveway and the upper lot for 6 or so cars ... The BX ran flawlessly ...while I still have a problem of the "Land Pride rear scraper lifting when going forward, a bungy cord held the lever down ... once I got the hang of the rear plow it worked well... also cleared the Ice Dams on the roof ..buckets everywhere .. I have my outside repairs scheduled for the spring and summer. Thanks for the Videos ...when the snow stops I'll have more time to enjoy them!

Ya i heard you had a pile of snow. The BX is a beast. No doubt the best subcompact on the market today. Yes I get critical at times but I still have three Kubota's :)
Clay I use mostly all Sony cameras with the exception of the POV cameras. For those I use Drift HD cameras. Glad you liked the quality. Thanks!

Tractor sounds good under load with that stack! Have you ever thought of adding a metering orifice on the hydraulics of the snow blower? May allow you to reduce the "jerlyness" of the discharge chute and be a little easier to control. Awesome video!
Tractor has tons of power. Really happy with it. I was going to put the metering valves on but I like the speed the chute has. It's flat out quick. When I want it to move, it moves lol. Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
Instead of climbing up the roof and very easily fall off, why don't you get a roof rake, I got mine at Northern tool. I also added 1 extra shaft. I can reach a 2 story roof up to the pitch. each pole is 5 foot. comes with 3 poles and rake. rake has wheels to ride on the roof if the area is less. I love mine and i can stop and blow the pile away as many times as I want. Sooo much safer. I have used it on 8 foot drifts on my roof after some blizzards. It's all aluminum and is extremly strong. get one and stay alive. I think your wife would approve. Whole set up was less than $75 with ship, a whole lot cheaper than a hospital bill. Was useing it for 20 years with my snowplow company I had.

Oh my. As an insurance agent I am cringing about 2 things here. Seeing him scrapping his shingles (breaking, tearing them) and most importantly waiting for him to fall off the roof! 5 years ago I had a client doing the same thing. He slid face first, fell on his head. Died instantly. Terrible. Awesome Kubota's though.
You treat your machines well - I'd hit that snow bank a little harder with the BX25.
I don't mind using them rough at times. It's the repairs and the cost of them that I don't enjoy lol

Boredom haha If I had the knowledge you had in just one finger I'd be better off haha it truly is an art form how you design,fabricate,and execute these mods I get all kinds of crazy ideas for my equipment after watching your vids haha. We have a foot to 16 inches coming tomorrow into Friday so I'll try and get a plowing vid up gonna be heavy wet stuff so the bx is gonna sit this one out the case is plugged in and ready for battle

Sounds like your in for a messy day. We're supposed to have snow then rain Friday. I only use our BX in the winter to do a little video or two. It's really our summer tractor but fun to use. I'll look forward to seeing a video.

I am located in WV and we have our share of snow. I sold all of my ATVs this summer but i did not sell the WARN Snow plow and mount that mounted on my 750 Kawasaki 750 Brute force.(Now Sold). .............. October Now.... .So now I am wondering if my BX 2350 with my LA243 Loader would move the snow from my parking pad and 200" driveway..
I watched you video with Great Interest .. Your comment as to the bucket being a very inefficient way to move snow got the wheels turning in my "Very Old" Brain.
I bought a radiator guard 2 years ago and had a 2x2 Receiver,(Harbor Freight) welded to the bottom of the Guard to push trailers rather than try to back them int a tight space.
Long story, Short.... I am welding a 2x2 Tube to the Warn Snow plow (Mod# KA12748-70954)& (Plowbase Mod#KA12748-6100) , mounting plate (Mod# KVF750-015) ... The mounting plate will now attach to the front of my tractor with the 2x2 tube and a 1/2 " hitch pin. ... I am installing a stainless Hex bolt 7/16 x 4.5" through the bottom half of the center bucket ram support flange to provide a lift / attachment point for the "lift chain" to lift the plow. I bought a 48" Trailer safety chain with hooks that have latches Harbor freight item # 95021 ,appox $9.00.
If anyone is interested I can take some photos after everything is install and working.
If anyone has an ATV plow this is a 50.00 conversion that make a quick install and disconnect that should be less than 1 minute and leaves you buchet in place.

Nice vid but seems like a huge investment in expensive equipment to clear a suburban driveway. I do everything I need to on my 66 acre farm with a John Deere 790 that cost a fraction of the big Kabota. But to each his own. Again, nice vid though.

No one uses a roof rake here. The snow is to wet and heavy. That being said I haven’t been up on that roof since this video and this is an old video.

Very inefficient, could never make a living moving snow this way. Pushing it out to the road, and then scooping and hauling it back to a pile to blow it over the fence,,,, seems like pushing it there in the first place might cut the time and cost in half. You have nice equipment, but certainly not the most effective. Happy scooping.

I think he more or less is just demonstrating and enjoying the use of his equipment. I know for myself that once I'm on my tractor, I wanna stay on as long as I can :)

I plow my driveway with a L4150, the bucket works great. So I'm not sure what you're talking about.
It may work great but it's the most inefficient way to move snow. Put an angle blade on that tractor and do it 1/3rd the time.

it might be a good idea to obtain a roof rake, so you do not have to risk your well being (and the condition of the roof) by walking on the roof.
Paul, I just recently came across your videos and find them full of information and inspiration. You and your wife are both extremely talented. I'm in the market for a Kubota tractor to take care of our property needs. Our driveway alone is 1600ft through the woods of upstate NY. I had thoughts on a hydronic snowplow and some sort of spreader on the rear for a sand salt aggregate. When I tell this to my Kubota dealerships they look at me like I'm nuts. They shy away from have a 3rd function to the loader and don't have any knowledge about a direction I should go in for the spreader. I was curious about your thoughts on the spreader. The reason I would like one is we have a very steep hill in the beginning of drive about 300 ft long and we are paying a lot of money each winter to sand it. Anyways thanks for your videos your the first channel I subscribed to on youtube all because of your kubota knowledge. Lol.
Chris I can't see why your dealer is acting like that. You have a great game plan. I wouldn't own a tractor without a 3rd function valve set up. With it you can do so much more with your tractor such as using the snow plow to angle the blade or use a grapple in the summer months to move things around. As for spreaders, It's common to see them in our area. Just Google "3 PT sand spreaders" and you'll see plenty of them. That my friend is the advantage of having a tractor so you can do anything with it. Your only limitation is your imagination.

Do you do a lot of other driveways with the 5740? It seems to me like it's a bit overkill for just one driveway. Really liked the video and the setup.
He used to do a lot more as a commercial and residential snowclearer. He's out of that business now but still uses the 5740 for residential landscaping and snowclearing his property as well as others who might need it sometimes.
If you had 50 drives to clear in the morning a bigger machine is gunna help you get done in good time...
I dont know if you did... BUt you should really consider installing accumulators on your 3 point hitch great improvement on the hitch and it saves from breaking the shoulder bolt on the upper arm
Philippe Bélanger No I never. As a matter of fact I've never seen a tractor around here with them but I know out in Quebec they are widely used. That being said, I've never broken anything off the blower either.
Yeah well around here some people are very hard on there equipment that's why we install them... When drived correctly they dont break
Philippe Bélanger It's the same everywhere. I use to operate large Caterpillar equipment in Labrador City,NL and they could beat them up as well. I guess the accumulators are installed to absorb the shock?

if you want to save your time going up on the roof get a 30+ foot paint brush handle and attach a puller onto the end of it so you can pull snow on the roof from the ground
You'd work hard doing it that way. That snow is well packed in with all the wind we had. We really font need to do it often. Maybe once a few years.
You should get yourself a snow rake to take the snow off the roof of your house. It is much safer and are sold at the Depot.

The reason was that there was a lot of rain coming and we wanted the snow off the roof ASAP. We would normally leave it there but not with rain coming.

So much risk is taken by people removing snow from a pitched roof such as that ...experienced roofing engineers would strongly suggest leaving the snow vs the statistics showing the uninformed people falling off and seriously hurting themselves or possibly death in some cases!
Hey Paul, do you think the new BX23s is worth the additional $2500 over the outgoing bx25D the dealers are currently asking? Also, what do you think about the comparable john deere compact tractors. Anyone else feel free to respond as well...Thanks!
Honestly I do think it's worth it and they'll probably work to get that cost down in a few months to a year. They're all great machines if you ask me, but I've never used a Deere. I'll tell ya this though. I think a Kubota diesel is way better than a Yanmar diesel will be for a while, and I don't like the amount of plastic on the Deere machines. I don't care if it's composite, if I drop a tree on it and it breaks in half it'll cost as much as replacing the dented metal hood of a Kubota, which I can just pull. You can't pull a plastic hood, unless you want to make the damage worse. Deere charges quite a bit for the green and yellow, but it's up to you. Hopefully this helps. Don't know if I got to your comment too late or not.
You're making me nervous Paul as to how you are scooping that snow off the roof opposite of how the shingles are laying. Did your scoop catch any of the roof shingles??

Very nice video, I bought the 25D myself, was wondering if I should go bigger and get a blower here up in Canada. Wanted to make sure it could handle the big snow blow drifts around here... pretty sure it can.

My friends I did this.on His kubota before he totaled it. we painted I mean we used the sprayed on bedliner (Blk) and it was very cool it made it pop its a lot better then that silver.. it give's it more depth ..
I hate to bother you, but where did you get the two new mirrors in the Bota? They look like they might save my neck on long snowblower passes. Also have you seen the all new 6060 yet? Thank-you for your time and videos!
Never had a guy from Iowa bother me yet so it's not a problem. I put those mirrors on the BX last spring because I was used to having mirrors on the 5740 and missed them on the BX. Check eBay. They are golf cart mirrors and run around $25 a set. Get the ones with the two steel brackets, they are the best ones. Yup I've seen the new 60 series tractors. The verdict is still out on them for me with the new emission system though. I do like the look of the new Kioti's.

My plow on the 5740 is perfect but for a project I might build a pusher for the BX. It might make for a good video.

Ha. You got a good eye. That old truck is a 1993 GMC 4x4. I bought it new and it's mint. Never painted and no rust, still looks new. Most see it and think its Newley restored but in actual fact is it's never been restored. Look for my video titled " my old truck" and you'll see it. You'll also see it in our dump trailer videos.
Paul Short yes by! thats what i thought was done, you had her restored. but for the age of her she looks mint, and you dont find many trucks of that age with no rust from around the shore. have to check her out when i comes the summer!

How the heck did you keep your footing on the roof? I use a snow-rake as they call it, yes it is slow, but you won't see me falling off of my roof either.

Na, Kathy isn't a tractor gal. She likes them but will not try one lol. Ya I got a long list of chores. I think she's a slave driver lol. Hey it not the fall that will kill ya. It's that sudden bring up :)
Good idea on the rake but I'm to impatient to use one. To many toys my friend means more work to look after them. I still say a guy is better off with nothing:)

Also, all the toys do take a lot to keep in tip top shape, I know, I have about eight oil changes to do, but I am waiting till the weather is warmer. Winter got here too quick for me.
Funny guy, I'll have to take a chopper up there to visit! When it warms up, I am going to do another 1 hour session & see if I can do a takeoff & landing plus smooth up my hovering skills.

As always, Love to watch the machines working. I stumbled across an interesting innovation on youtube; doesn't let me post the link, but if you search for "Kubota Auto Hitch with snowblower & blade" I think you might find it interesting. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on this setup, whether or not it would be cost effective, efficient, etc.
That's some great engineering in that quick hitch. Seems to work well. I do have a few concerns and one of them would be ground clearance and I think the cost would be interesting to see but it sure is quick.
I was wondering if I could get your opinion on something, what do you think about putting fluid in the front tires of a compact utility tractor like the BX that you have from Kubota or the 2032r that I have from John Deere. I have asked several dealers and some say it's fine others say it's not. I think most of the time they're just giving me their opinion, I would like some factual basis for this should I do it or should I not do it? They tell me that putting fluid in the front tires will cause problems with the axle and the drivetrain for the 4 wheel drive, however some dealers tell me that that the front axle will handle plenty of weight and it won't cause any problems and it will help greatly with traction. I have fluid in the front tires of the 4110 johndeere that I have currently and I've had the tractor since 2005 with absolutely no problems at all, but I wanted to see if you have encountered any issues with it. I just don't want to purchase this new 2032 and have problems with it due to my negligence, however I do require the added traction because I do plow a lot of snow in the winter and I do a lot of mowing on uneven ground. I'm not a fan of loaded tires in the front. I'm also not a fan of chains in the front. If you need weight temporarily you could use weights but not full time. In the rear it's not an issue. I'm running 1000lbs in wheel weights on the rear of our big tractor and no weight up front.
Our BX has no loaded tires. It will and do put a strain on components that weren't designed to have that added weight.

Well I like green as well but there are no green dealers on the island plus a friend of mine owns the Kubota dealership so you have to support your friends.
I gotcha. Kubota makes a great equipment. When i was a kid we had a jd 955, and a 355D. Now the 355D is in my hands and its getting some new paint this summer.
I've had great service from the Kubota products and I'm happy with them but I'd like to have a different product to add my own ideas too and that would be the only reason I'd switch. I bet the 355D will look fantastic with a new flick of paint.
What a tight area you have to pile snow . Do you. Plow your neighbors drive to be nice?
Hello Paul, love your work. I have a question about the yellow caution lights low on the ROPS on your BX25. It looks like there are protective frames around them. I am constantly breaking the right side light on my BX25 mowing. What is the best solution? Cheers from a New Brunswicker (living in Ontario)

Doing great Mike, hope it's the same for you. We use a number of different cameras. Three are Sony's. One of them is a Sony project camera. We also use two POV Drift cameras and one dash camera. We try and give the best possible quality to the videos and these cameras do a fairly good job I think.

That's what I used to say back when I had my BX2230 with a loader. Now I realize a plow is the handiest and quickest tool to use for my operation. It all works, just some work better than others. 😉

Paul Short I guess your idea of poor is different. Those "tools" are VERY expensive. Most of us couldnt buy one attachment. Hope Kobuta is paying you well for their advert.
Paul, my Kubota BX2230 manual says to check valve clearance after 800 hours (I have just under 800 hours). Your thought about how critical this is?

Yes. Do it. If it were a gas engine you'd hear if they were out of adjustment but on a diesel, nope. You'll have a greater peace of mind knowing they were checked.
If snow loads on the roof is a problem in your area, why not just build the roofs steeper and to a stronger standard ?
Not really an issue but if it gets to much and then the rain comes it can be very heavy on a roof. We've never had an issue and to be honest we don't want one. It's a bit of preventive maintenance. We only need to do it once every few years.
i'm pretty sure his house can handle the load of the snow, its just a precaution. here in Quebec, you have to plow your roof on older house... and steeper roof arent always nice to look at (a 11-12 slope isnt always good looking... ) some new house are built with 16" center trusses but they arent easy to build.

why do you have so many different types of tractors I notice you have big ones and small ones, do you have some type of commercial snow blowing business where you may need that type of equipment or do you just like to buy tractors, which i think is fine as well. Thank you

Because they are for doing differant jobs that we need to get done. Like sitting down with a knife and a fork. They both are needed but they both do differant tasks.
