    Paul- Your skill set is second to none... Watching you evaluate, design and fabricate has inspired me to improve my own humble skills, and I want to personally thank you and Kathy for taking the time to inspire and educate us on so many levels. God bless you both...

    Wow look at that smile!! Kathy, you made his week, Flu and all!!
    Happy birthday Paul! Enjoy your new toy!
    I thought at one point you broke a shear pin when you were going into a snow pile. Evil wet snow. Good equipment makes everyday chores tolerable, even fun. Now go get some rest or you will never get rid of that cold.

      Craig Baillar
      Man I'm never getting rid of this flue. I've had that blower on two tractors since 2008 and I've only broken one shear pin. I was blowing out a compound and the officer said there was nothing under the snow. Well he forgot about the concrete block that got sucked into the impeller. I won't tell you what I said at the tie because I'm sure your to young to hear it but I put a new pin in and got paid for doing it lol. It's a great quality blower. Built like a battle ship.
      Take care.

    Boy Kathy, you sure do know how to make your man happy. I mean at the beginning of that video Paul is dragging through his work, hardly any smiles and then PRESTO CHANGO. Once you guys got back from his birthday outing, he's all as happy as can be!! Way to go!
    Looking forward to those Drone videos.

    Good one Paul. I've had my Quadcopter for over a year now myself. Carbon fiber blades and practice, practice, practice a must. Took mine up in the clouds I couldn't see it. Had to hit the Return To Home button.....thought I lost it. Lol. Safe flying!!!

    • @7863348
      @7863348  Před 9 lety

      George A. Woods I've got a lot of experience with RC planes but this is the first quad. With GPS and compass it should be fairly easy. Did the firmware updates last night, red all the manuals, looked at a lot of video's. I'm familiar with the unit now but there's to much snow down to really want to try it. This is the new V3.0 model so It should fly nice. Not a nice feeling when you think you lost a craft. Glad it worked out well for you.

    Those farm trucks take quite a beating but it looks like this one will be back to work in short order. Good job. And Happy Birthday too. It should be quite interesting to see what you get up to with that new toy. After Kathy has her lessons on the BX, point her to where the new fish-pond will be and tell her to have at it.

      So true on the farm trucks and just about everything else on a farm. That's my plan with Kathy on the BX. She can do the digging and I'll do the flying ;) Some how I don't see that happening though :(

    Happy Birthday Paul! And kudos to you Kathy for taking him out and getting him a gift. I'm glad you're getting some better Paul. Thanks for the video. Kathy must think we're a bunch of dim-wits for not just wanting to see someone pushing snow with a tractor but liking it too. :-) To try and justify it I have to say I learn something every time. Even if it's something I'll never use. I get it stored in my feeble mine so I can have more to forget as I get even older. There is a method to my madness. Anyway, hope you enjoyed your birthday and Kathy as well. Take care and God Bless. Levi~~

    Kathy did a very nice job filming this one. And you did a very nice job plowing that. It didn't look that wet on camera. I kinda figured that the drone was coming since there had been a few videos you liked on it. Good luck with the drone. Maybe drone is definitely on my want list for myself to get but its way at the bottom. They are trying to make them illegal here so I'm not spending almost a thousand dollars on something I won't be able to fly. Hope you had a great birthday!

    Happy Birthday! So sorry you are sick and having to work. The metal items look to be off a rotary hay mower. Not sure of the brand but I myself have worked on more than a few. Would like your opinion of what kind of metal they are made of? They seem to be a very hard steel and weld like crap. Or at least I do on that steel!

      Thanks. It's been a rough flue. Even my doctor buddy was laid up with it for a week. Yes the parts are off a rotary mower. I don't know the brand name of them but they are only common 1/8th plate and are not hardened. These weld up really nice. I guess it all depends on the brand of the unit.

    • @harrisonjeff70
      @harrisonjeff70 Před 9 lety

      The reason for welding would be a quick fix until a new one can be ordered. I maybe have contaminated steel from miles contact with the earth. It really seems like a opposite forces are pushing back on the puddle and cause lots of spitting and popping. Is this how magnetized steel acts?

    Greetings Kathy and Paul, Please forgive me if you answered my question in a previous video but I was just wondering if Kathy ever wanted to learn how to operate the 5740? Furthermore, have you ever changed the cutting edge on the plow or is it the original cutting edge from 20 years ago? And if its not the original, how long does a cutting edge last, for you, on the plow? Also, have you had the blower on the 5740 clog up from really wet or slushy snow? I watched a video and the person cut up a rubber mud flap from a truck and screwed/bolted it to the impeller fins to close the clearance between the edge of the fin and the housing, and the blower went through slush and wet snow and threw it a good 10 feet like it was dry fluffy snow and that impressed me. It was a two stage walk behind blower but I assume it can be done to 3 point hitch unit as well. Additionally, what is the small black rectangle at the bottom left of the small overhead door on the shop? Also, what brand tire inflator with the built-in air gauge were you using on the GMC's tire? The cheap one I have is 35 psi off and I would like a quality one that tells me the correct reading. I got what I paid for unfortunately. :) I apologize for influx of questions, I really enjoy watching your videos and happy belated birthday. :)

      Jon Rushing
      Hi Jon. No.Kathy really never shown any interest in the 5740. She says it looks to complicated and says I do ok with it. I'd rather she get interested in doing shop work lol. I've owned the Arctic Poly blade since new in 1994. Its been used commercially all that time. The cutting edge is reversible and if you do it right and watch how it wears you can flip it over for a few years and use it again then go another few years and do the flip all over again. I got 15 years out of the first cutting edge before I replaced it. It's just a matter of knowing your equipment and keeping an eye on it.
      No. Clogging hasn't been an issue for mine. It's a 60 hp unit and can move a massive amount of slush and snow. I've seen home made impeller kits like you have described though and they do work.
      The rectangular black item in that door is a handle that was intend to open the door. It was never used because our doors are remotely operated and they don't even need to be touched.
      If you asking about the compressor in the shop it's made by Techquip. If your just asking about the gauge /air chuck its a Milton unit.You'll find that Milton builds about the most reliable pneumatic tools in the world in my opinion.
      Thanks for watching our video's. We really appreciate it. Great to hear your enjoying them.

    Hi Paul and Kathy, We purchased a Kubota 2301 last Spring and have used it for mowing, hauling, landscaping and more. As Winter approaches I have a question for you. Our driveway is over 300', 12' wide drops from our house to the road 30'. We have a 52" bucket and I'm wondering if we can plow snow with that or should invest in a plow blade. We have a Honda track driven 30" snowblower but with warmer winters can only use for 50% of storms. It's not so much the investment but hate to buy something to sit in the yard thats not needed. Look forward to you input, Thanks!

    • @7863348
      @7863348  Před 3 lety +1

      Plowing with a bucket is not my idea of a fun time. It takes to long using the bucket. Buckets are only good for moving snow not plowing it. Get a good blade like I have in the video. Where it has the poly skin on the front and snow won’t stick to it and you’ll be able to angle it making a very fast efficient job of moving your snow. Yes it’s an added cost but because of the efficiency of the blade you’ll do your driveway in 1/3rd of the time meaning less seat time, less fuel, less wear and tear on your machine and more time for you to do what you want.
      Well you asked and I answered 😂

    Nice Job on the video. Have a quick question for you if you can. I have a John Dare 1023E, front bucket movement control level moves in all directions side to side up and down but the bucket and cylinders will not move. Sorry to say my tractor is outside covered up but I think it is frozen with the weather we have here in Michigan, at night around zero days in the low double digits right now. Tractor starts fine let it warm up for an hour still no movement in bucket. Tractor will drive forward fine and a little slower in reverse. What do you think I should try and do to get movement for bucket cylinders? Oh ya for the backhoe no movement of any of the cylinders. Not sure if I can get a way to heat any of it up or not out side. Can’t move it because the way the bucket is angled into the ground. Thanks, love your channel and the things you work on. Take care, be safe, later. Oh ya Happy Birthday there bud. Love your birthday gift, just getting into the drones myself have a smaller one just beginning I love it.

      Wow. You got a weird one there. Ok. First question. when you move the lever with the tractor running do you hear any whining or hear any change in sound?
      The next step if it was mine would be to remove any quick change couplers and plug them back in again then try your controls to see if that made a difference.
      Personally I can't see anything being frozen. Those systems are designed to operate in most any condition. A work shop manual would be your best friend at this point. The fact that there's nothing operating on the back hoe has me concerned.
      I put a link over on Tractor By Net in the Deere section for you. Head over there and if your not a member sign up, Its free and post the question there. someone may have ran into the same issue and might be able to tell you first hand the problem.
      Let me know what happens please.
      Thanks for your kind words.

      Thanks buddy. Kathy always tell me I'm always pushing the envelope looking for new ideas. I've been like it all my life. If I commit to something I see it through and this CZcams thing is that way right now. I thought the drone would add a little more spunk to the video's and I think folks will like them. Time will tell on who runs what. the drone can be set on weigh points and once set don't require an operator. It will take off on it's own and do what I programmed into it. After the mission is over It will land it's self and shut it's self down.

    If I ever have the money, I'd love to use a tractor similar to that one for plowing snow instead. Sucky part about using a pickup is that you can't put any downward pressure on the plow itself to scrape anything up or drag backwards effectively (plow just rides up on the snow.)
    How would you say it performs in these two situations?

    I just saw the first of your videos, very entertaining. I used to plow my driveway and a couple of neighbours with a 1994 2.4 liter Toyota 4x4 (5 spd standard). It was amazing how much that little truck could push with a 7' blade. If I could buy a new pre-2005 4 cyl Toyota 4x4 (standard) I would do it in a heartbeat. Great little rigs with a solid drivetrain.

      OK, sorry, I didn't know. I got new video notice almost an hour ago and watched it right away !! It was the one where you made, installed and painted a spill-over top extension for a new BX25 bucked. You do very nice work !! Good tips too. It's evident how much the two of you enjoy each other, it's heart warming to see ! I've watched a nice few of your videos so far and am really interested in the Kubota tractors. If anything they should be paying you commission !! You're an ambassador for them..!! I was the same way for Toyota till I bought the (then new) 2005 larger mid-sized Tacoma. I drove those little 4x4 Toyota trucks since '79, that new one was a total disappointment. I wish they'd allow the Hilux in. :(
      Anyhow...I have a Kubota diesel in my boat and never had a second's trouble with it. I was surprised to learn (from you!) how inexpensive those little tractors are. I have a long driveway and clear all around my garage which was a pleasure with the old truck and plow. Takes me three hours with a snowblower and half of it with the wind in my face. I don't have enough room to store a tractor inside my garage so maybe I'll pick your brain on those zippered shelters you use...and, for a lead on a good used BX !!
      I know, I talk too much !!!
      Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you both...

    Big tractor in a subdivision? Are you compensating for something Paul?

      I’d hardly consider a 60hp tractor big. Anything over 100hp I would 🤨

    Paul what kind of battery life is suspected out of the drone?

      Not sure how long the life span is of it but a flight can last up to 24 minutes. That little battery cost $179. I guess you can tell I'm not at this CZcams stuff for the money lol.
