Nice job with the review. I have the Hypsos/Oor stack. I bought it to use in a setup put together specifically for and around a Susvara, so my use case for the Ferrum stack may be narrower than most. That said, I could not be more pleased with it and how well it synergizes with the Spring3 KTE and Susvara, and it didn't send me into a second mortgage situation. I could go on and on - let's just call it as, I'm a fan.

I was fortunate enough to get a Soloist GT and the Ferrum stack at the same time. Soloist GT wowed me, but Ferrum stayed with me. I keep it in 22v and use it mostly with Susvara and Holo May. It does everything really well but the masterstroke for me is the balance of nuanced detail and transparency with an inoffensive and slightly warm sound and powerfull bass. It does burn in as well, quite a bit actually, especially the bass opens up.

Are you still happy with it? I've been totally blown away with my Gus X26 Pro since I started feeding it HQPlayer-upsampled DSD signal, I'm re-discovering my Focal Utopia yet again. But I'm still using my A90 and there's so much choice in amplifiers, all of which quickly get very expensive, that I'm not sure if any of those purchases would be worth it. I remember you recommending tubes for the Utopia but I also have the HEKse which I might one day upgrade to the Susvara and at these prices having one amp per headphone sounds a bit too expensive... :-)

@@MistaLova-Lova still on Ferrum, HA6a and May. It's a totl system for Utopia, Susvara and TC. All pieces are amazing with their own character. I would still recommend you to try HA1a, and probably Soloist 3xp as a SS option. Roll tubes and op amps, have fun :) People say Gustard R26 is also amazing, haven't heard either just yet. My mext pieces will probably be Holo Bliss and Woo WA5LE ... but this is going into kilobucks 😱

@@krisrudecki9477 Thanks mate, I think I owe it to myself to try these products. The experience I describe above has once again made me realise that my Utopias are so wonderfully transparent and keep scaling with every change I make (they're so great at showing differences between different HQPlayer filters, for example). The HEKse cannot keep up with them so I'm considering getting the Susvara at some point or waiting for more ZMF Caldera reviews to come out.
I'll definitely need to try the tubes to see what they bring to the table. I've also been thinking about the Soloist since it should be powerful enough for the Susvaras. As for other headphones - is the difference between the 3XP and the A90 significant enough to justify this upgrade?

@@MistaLova-Lova Burson amps have their own character and are generally good value. I was not a fan of the GT due to active cooling etc. but still a good amp, but for me wasn't as good of a proposition as Ferrum, Volot and now Bliss. I haven't heard the A90D, but if it's anything like THX amps Soloist will be a lot more lively.

@@krisrudecki9477 Thanks, I'll give the Soloist a try, I think it might make a difference at this level when I'm even hearing differences between different HQPlayer filters (try gauss-long - its depth is unmatched!). Is the Soloist good enough for the Susvara too so as to make the Sus sound decidedly better than the HEKse?

Your take on the Ferrum stack reflects mine. The "wow" factor is missing but overall I'm still happy with it as it seems to do almost everything very good sonically. I'm hoping you will have the opportunity to review the new Ferrum Wandla (the standalone DAC) this year.

I’m glad I bought the Burson Soloist GT after watching your review. I wanted a wow factor and huge stage for that kinda money. This was the other amp I was considering. I have an A90, that’s plenty “right down the middle” and cheaper.

I can’t comment on if it’s worth the cost to you or not but what other power supplies let you change the voltage with a knob to tweak the sound? Personally I think $1000 for a streamer can sound equally insane on paper when you can get a WiiM mini for $99. But people find ways to rationalize anything like this streamer has a screen or a high quality dac, yadayada.

I feel like this topping stuff is bordering on cult tier. If you like your cheap Chinese toy box that all sound the same then good for you, but it’s weird people have a problem with others who like nice sturdy equipment that lets you tinker around and play with the sound. At the end of the day it’s a hobby, not a science project. There is a time and place for neutral sound but most of the time I want to have fun.

I apparently didn't stress enough that I like the Ferrum stack quite a bit. I tried to stress it's not boring, but it is a jack of all trades master of none kind of product. That's OK! Not many products go for that in the hi end so that aspect is its outstanding feature. That's just hard to pick out by listening and I'm trying to help manage expectations on this stack. Add in that it drives everything with relative ease and the hypsos offers some interesting fine tuning options and this stack very ably fills a niche not previously filled.
