Less than a year after the release of the NES Classic, Nintendo has given the SNES the same treatment. Seeing how well the NES Classic sold and how many people complain about its lack of availability, it only makes sense for Nintendo to cash in on some nostalgia by re-releasing their amazing Super Nintendo console as the SNES Classic.
Now we all know the SNES Classic will be much smaller than the original Super Nintendo and it will include 20 of our favourite games, but there are plenty of lesser known features anyone interested in purchasing the SNES Classic should know. Of course, we can go on and on about how awesome Super Mario World, Kirby Super Star and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past will look in glorious high-definition, but what’s the fun in that? We all know these game will run and look great so in this video, we’re going to be focusing on the he facts you may not know about the SNES Classic.
Unlike in the original SNES, you can save your game at any time using the suspend point slots. If you lost your controller, it’s not a problem. Just use your NES classic controller instead. The eject button isn’t as useful as you think. Take nostalgia one step further and use the CRT filter to get that classic screen blur. These are just some of the 10 SNES Classic facts you didn’t know! Watch the video to learn about them all! Enjoy!

Man earthbound, I love you and I always will. Giygas just not only gives you chills with it's story but it also brings emotion to know that you literally beat him by praying and calling for help. After playing undertake and now this. It's so clear to some things and earthbound is a cult classic I love to this day.

I'm also one of the few that prefers the NA SNES design. The Euro one is basically a water downed Super Famicom that runs on a lower electrical frequency. The NA version also allows you to play Super Famicom cartridges with just an easy modification by snapping out the two tabs.

1:06 I haven't played those games on my SNES classic mini yet, but if they save like in the original then I remember Super Mario World NOT keeping track of your score and reset your lives to 5 every time. In fact I know that it happened with Donkey Kong Country. I farmed about 20 extra lives before saving on my first playthrough, then when I loaded up the regular save I found that I was back to 5. I'm sorry but I'm using a suspend point along with the regular save so that whenever I go to the next area I can do so with all my accumulated lives because I really will need them. I tried the first level of Kremcroc Industries a couple days ago, and lost over 10 lives just trying to get through it. I've got 96 lives so I'm just going to start again and hope that it's enough to get me past the first 5 levels so that I can get to Funky Kong and go back to Jungle Hijinx for more lives.

There is one piece of nostalgic hardware from the past that I would love to see re-introduced officially for the NES/S-NES Retro. It was known as the NES Satellite. Since both Retro consoles use the same plug, it would be perfect for this bit of hardware to work with both. It basically acted as a remote base for the wired controllers to plug into. Then, (somehow) sent the controller data across the room to a remote plug in receiver on the console...without lag issues. (Modern Chinese knock off consoles use LED wireless controllers...and those tend to have bad lag issues. Why, a fair number will also include actual ports to plug the real controllers into.) In essence, the perfect roundabout option for playing some super early wireless. Now, this modern version could use Blu-Tooth (or whatever RF mode) over the original's LED transmission to improve data flow. And, it would perfectly solve that short cord issue while literally printing more money for Nintendo. Win-Win. I'm sure some super cheap adapter could work with the different placements of the player one/two ports between the two systems.

I think Nintendo royally missed out on a perfect opportunity. Functional mini cart slot to work with 'Upgrade carts'. These mini carts would have housed more licensed games to buy in the coming months. It would have been like Nintendo printing more money for itself.

A note about the EUR/JAP version of the SNES Classic versus the USA version, the library is a little bit different. Five of the games are different between the two versions. The EUR/JAP version doesn't have Earthbound, Super Castlevania IV, Super Punch-Out, or Kirby's Dream Course, and it has a different version of Street Fighter II (It has The New Challengers, where the USA version has SFII Turbo: Hyper Fighting).

What if Nintendo combines NES and SNES Classic Edition? It would be called “(S)NES Classic Edition” and for Japan “(S)FC Classic Edition.” It would look like the redesigned SNES and use SNES controllers. It would include 9 more SNES games, to make it 60 games, and Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3 would have both the original and SMAS versions built in. The Legend of Zelda would have option of a BS Zelda style version as well.Y and X buttons would work as B and A buttons respectively. Kirby’s Adventure would also get that treatment, using the assets of its GBA remake Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland.

GameStop put me on the list for the NES Classic, I was first to ask. No call, have to spend $250 on eBay. Ask about list for SNES Classic. Only 2 on it before me. Less than a week, I go in, they say he's given guy enough time for one, do I want it? YASS. I even got a call because I was still on the list.
