- This is my first Renaissance Faire trip of the season, and PARF's opening weekend! The theme was faeries so got to break out my wings and had so much fun 😊 We tried lots of food and rated the turkey legs compared to Maryland RenFaire, LA's Renaissance Pleasure Faire, and Disneyland lol

OH HI!!!! I'm the blue flower fairy that gave yall bubbles!!! (around 3:50) It was great to meet yall!
My fav part about the PA rennfaire is definitely the real bathrooms. Absolute game changer from the portipottys from MD. I also found there are WAY less wasps at PA VS MD
Yes definitely saw fewer stinging things! Though one of the clothing shops had a wasp nest in the rafters 😭 I left very quickly
PA?
@@estherlynch7160 Pennsylvania Renaissance faire in Manheim, PA
yeahhh my local faire!!! i’m going later in the season and i can’t wait! looks so much fun :)
It was so much fun! I’ll be going again later 😊
I was PRAYING the whole time that you guys got an invite to Robin's show. It's one of my favorite parts of the PA Ren Faire. There's a man who does a raunchy comedy/bard show and he walks around looking for people drinking and slips them "secret" invites and it's so cute.
I kept pausing and looking at all the things! Everyone's costumes were really cool. I'm looking forward to hopefully more vlogs from you as I love watching them. Much love 💚
Aw thank you so much!🥰
Hey! I love the PA RenFaire. I think if you come back, you should definitely go to the joust at the end! It's super fun and the fireworks were during the theatrics in the joust.
Oh that’s good to know!! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@moth.faerie if you end up back there in October, we'd love to give some trinkets! Also, don't sleep on the wine shop or spirits shop outside. They have some really good deals.
Wait! Those are legit my friends doing the fight your friends thing with the balloons!!😮😂
All the Fairy Wings 🎉 I assume we should look for wings that are as vertical as possible for ease of movement at a busy faire?
The fireworks that you saw as you were leaving were from the final show they have. The shows are fun you should have stayed to see it.
Oh my gosh, a faire with REAL bathrooms?!? That sounds magnificent. Oregon Country Faire (not Ren faire but Ren faire adjacent) has one area with real bathrooms. Would love more with permanent buildings like PA. Also good to know about the vendors. I like when they are strict about no resellers. OCF is strictly hand made, would recommend giving them a visit one year, especially camping nearby is always a hoot.
Definitely want to visit PA if only for the cool buildings.
It’s the only one I’ve been to with real bathrooms! I’ll have to add ocf to my list!!
@@moth.faerie Definitely give it a try one day. A lot of people dress up for it which is great. There's live music, shopping, food, all the permanent structures are in the trees (ground level) but still feels like you're in a tree house. I haven't gone in a few years, but I recall lots of shaded areas and there's a bathhouse? (I never used it, but I think it was called the Ritz?). They don't sell alcohol there which is a bit of a bummer, but I know people party back at the campsites (depending on which campsite you choose as there is a party all night one vs a go to sleep early one etc etc).
@@moth.faerie oh another one that I just found, haven't attended but the idea is fun. In OR there's a weekend long camping excursion that's pirate themed (themed clothing required) the Seadogs Refuge. It's an immersive experience. Looks like it would be quite the interesting time. It's now on my list of potential faires to visit. (Note you don't have to stay for the whole weekend, but it is not priced for day trips).
Thanks for showing all the items they sell!
I actually work at the Bread and Broth stand here!! It was fun to see my friends in the video when you went there. I hope they were nice :) I do apologize about the Turkey Legs. If you would have went pre-covid you would have loved them!
They were very nice! And no worries haha I like all Turkey legs even if they’re just ok
Very very cool! I’m looking forward to what you think of Maryland Ren Faire this year!!!
Love this! If you go back this year you should check out the archery range by the jousting fields, real arrows, very safety conscious and you can definitely stand and shoot! The other one is geared more for the kiddos
I'm glad you had a good time! I won't be going back to PA RenFaire.
The Security was so mean to me last year >< the guy actually laughed at me crying. I was having a panic attack and couldn't breathe.
Oh wow, I'm so surprised about how *not* crowded it is? My home faire is Bristol and the main paths become a standstill by afternoon. PA also looked so... clean?! No dust anywhere! Must be because of the paved road!
It's a paved road around the entire center then branches off on the grass/mud depending on the weather usually really grassy, and my favorite was riding the elephant before that closed down
GA renfaire has the same problem with the archery range. I'm not tall (5'2) and I had to kneel to shoot. I love archery and I'm very disappointed that the GA faire doesn't have a good archery rage. Sorry to see you had the same problem in PA! Other than that, it looked fun! Definitely having Renfaire envy
I am currently getting ready for the Northern renaissance fair 😜 can’t wait. Do only the fairies give out trinkets or is it a new thing we’re all supposed to be doing now? 😅
Did you go on Saturday? My friends and I went on Sunday and it was so hot, I wish we'd been able to go on Saturday instead. :') We're going to the MD faire tomorrow! I've never been before so I'm very excited! (also your videos are so fun, thank you for all of the fashion, costume, sewing, and faire content!
I went on Sunday and I’ll be at md tomorrow too!
I love the pa faire! We went this year in the fall for my school, and I’m working on convincing my parents to take me and some friends back next fall for my birthday, I’ll be going as a vampire hunting werewolf if I get to go. It was so cool seeing things I know in a video by someone who makes things a bunch of people see.
Where did your friend in the green/earth tones get that top/vest? Do you know? It looks almost like the embroidery on saris and exactly what I'm looking for for my costumes!
Hey, glad ya'll had a blast at the PA ren faire! We loved being there: ))))- and yes- Ohio still has good soup and breadbowls ^ ^ (Indeed)
This is so lovely :)
Such an established area, everything looks so...clean? too clean. but definitely looks like a fun time! it's easy to see what everything is.
This was so much fun to watch, thanks for bringing us with you
❤
Always enjoy watching your renfaire vlogs! I really need to get myself to one in the future.
PA renfaire looks quite modern
PARF is very visually aesthetically pleasing! you and your friends are fantastic, love your costumes and energies!
I love making and eating pierogi!!! They're the best! Glad you had fun!
The PARF has so many good showsand they always have a yearly storyline that varies slightly with the weekend theme. I miss that when I go to the MDRF, as it seems like the exact same "story" every year.
i love seeing your reviews of different faires! would love to see your thoughts on VARF at some point. and YES MD SEASON SOOOOON
DANG IT!!! I'm going tomorrow so i just missed you!!!! ah well 🥰
Aah I’ll be going again sometime this season 😊
@@moth.faerie COOL!! If I see you there I’ll say hi 🌱🥰🌱
I'm definitely biased where i had so much more fun at penn renn faire compared to Maryland renn faire even though maryland is my local faire! But that's probably because i was there with local friends who knew the fair inside and out so i felt super engaged in the story and with everyone since they knew my friends and they knew what to check out! It felt like there was more to do and see also! But the Maryland one is also really lovely I love going every year!
I'm curious if you've ever been to, or thought of going to the pittsburgh ren fair, it started this weekend and will runn each weekend for the next month, It' d be a blast to see you here, or next year if you need more time to plan. love your channel and have a great ren fair season!
I’ve been before and I honestly had a kind of bad experience, one of the workers at a shop was really rude to micah about having long hair for some reason? But that was probably five years ago so I’d be willing to give it another try 😊
@@moth.faerie you should,it's grown and added more stuff, plus venders change alot so it can be a whole new experience!
Good to know the md bread bowl soups are universally hated 😂 they’re the worst
They’re so bad! One of our friends has gotten food poisoning from them 😭
@@moth.faerie omg so did i!! at least I'm not alone 😂
As someone who used to go to both faires? It was nice reliving and learning the new layout. If anything, the Witch's Hut is non-negotiable. However, as noted below, Maryland... sucks. Aside from Badger Blades and friendly staff? There's nothing. And if you go to Kansas City, you can actually meet Badger from Badger's Blades. So, for me it's PA and KC. Maryland is .... yay?
Edit : Actually, I can add one thing that PA has over MD. Canes Enable. If you're never spoken with Mark, you should. If you want to learn self defense from Mark, he teaches in Hanover. If you ever questioned how old old wood was? He knows.
next year you should try and come out to the colorado ren fest! i think that you would really enjoy it! dressmeupscotty came this summer and made a video about it (:
I’d love to go to that one!
Great video. You two are a wonderful couple & your friends seem so fun !
Like how you could deconstruct your outfit for the ride home.
Thank you! Haha appreciate it, i am really thankful for everyone in my life 🥰 and yesss taking half the costume off for the ride home is the best feeling haha
PARF is my home faire and also the only faire I've ever been to! Me and mine go every Saturday and we really love it. We're basically Disney adults for PARF
I do agree that the drop shippers do suck, but I'm friendly with some of the artisan and bespoke store owners and they definitely deserve attention. I also really love the cast, I feel like they really give it their all.
Loved the paved paths, real toilets and mermaids❤. No jousting though?😢
there’s two jousts per day!
We have Jousting at PARF (Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire !!! You should come see the Jousting and all the shows, vendors and the wonderful Cast!!!
I loved The Cloisters. I called it the Secret History but with a sense of humor which I much prefer.
Haha that’s a really good description of it!
I love your Renaissance Faire vlogs. It's exciting to see different faires; there's only two close to me and one of those is only one weekend.
If you get a chance check out the Barely Balanced show; I was at their premier show when they first started performing at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. It's a family tradition to watch them perform every season.
Thank you for watching!! I just looked up their schedule and I think I have other non renfaire commitments the weekends they’re here unfortunately 😢 but maybe I can catch them at a different faire!
SO FUN! I'm hoping to go to a ren faire next year! (just no time this season) would you say that opening weekends are usually more or less busy than the middle of the season?
Love this video! I'm enjoying all your faire reviews. Will you come to Texas and do a TRF Review?
Not this year but hopefully next year!
I was there dressed as a highlander! I wish I saw you there.
Have ya,ll been to Minnesota rennisance festival yet?
I love ALL of the fairy wings! Where did you guys get them?
Mine are fancy fairy wings, I think the others are hello fairy
They have a more “adult” style archery range by the joust field it’s amazing and me and my group always try to go shoot there ❤️
And the arrows are real lol
Oh that’s good to know I’ll try to find it next time I’m there!
Ok I need to know what crotchy mac and cheese is 😝
Cronchy!
Paved roads at a ren fest. How tragic. MI Ren fest ftw
Agree that the MD soup in a bread bowl feels too soft and commercial… not that homemade-preferably-whole-wheat texture you want in a bread bowl
Working at Amazon is basically a sweat shop ! Worked there 6 months and almost ruined my body.
Will you guys be going to the Sparta Ren Faire again this year?
Probably not 😭 unfortunately the dates conflict with conventions and birthdays and family this year 😢
@@moth.faerie My GF and I are guest artisans later in the season at PARF after we do Sparta. We love your videos!
The walking paths look bigger and smoother than Ohio's renfaire
Looking at the background people the entire video hopping I made it in and there was no sign of my mushroom hat🤣
Did you leave before the joust?!
I did, but I'll be back at the end of the season I'll try to catch it then! I don't usually go to the joust bc I hate being in direct sunlight and they all are very in direct sunlight 😅😅😅
That's understandable. They put on a fantastic show! More than just a joust!
ETA: there's also a couple trees on the bank you can sit under if you don't mind sitting in the grass.
lots of mentions of mermaids but very little of the display ... but looked like fun!
There were a lot of kids and I didn’t want to get in their way but I also didn’t want to film them 😅
@@moth.faerie them being the kids. oh, well ...
It is a shame this fair has become what it did. Over priced, expensive food and drinks and no imersable entertainment for the money. This fair when it was at 18.00 was packed and this was the place to be, now its 32.00 a person and you get nothing for that money. How sad, and amazed they are still open, dont know how. They chased out the pirates, which is what made that place awesome, and now I see its deteriation and all for greed. Beautiful video though.
