Yep, it's a big sign that a tsunami is on its way. Too many people died because they didn't know. Hopefully, these movies will save many lives in the future.
There was a tsunami and the first thing that happened was all the animals started going to higher land and people were confused. So if you see animals start heading in a direction and not deviating from the route, you might want to follow. There were elephants that were used for rides and they started going to higher land even when they were trying to be forced to go back on the route for the ride.
I saw this back in the late 80s on Sunset Cliffs, in Southern California. It dumbfounded everyone when the alert went out of the raido and everyone stopped. When we looked down there about 4 or 5 surfers in the water and no matter how loud we screamed, they couldn't understand us. Unfortunately, they were not in a beach area with sirens. We couldn't see how they even got down there. When the water pulled out, they waved at us and ran for the water. I couldn't but some watched after they started running. When the wave hit the cliffs, it felt like an earthquake. 😢
@Acroshna No, they didn't survive. I think that is why they ran toward the water. I may be crazy but at the time, I thought that they were going to try to surf the wave. I may be crazy for thinking that. I apologize to their families if I am wrong 😔 It was like I said, I could not watch when they were running it hurt too much because they were trapped 😢
Get in the cabin. Survive the initial impact. Grab a flotation device. Get out of the cabin as quickly as possible. Your chances aren't good, but they are non-zero.
Tsunami, baby. Whenever you see a body of water disappearing, please immediately run for higher ground. I'm 64 years old. I read this in a book when I was 11 years old. That was 50 plus years ago. Why aren't children learning about this today?
Неужели люди незнают , что если вода быстро отходят от берега , то это беда , надо убегать далеко и быстро , на гору или куда то высоко , ведь это ЦУНАМИ !!!!
I would hesitate to say accurate. The harbor master has a warning siren for situations like this, yet there was no prior warning save for the water receding and the incoming wave. The west coast has numerous wave motion and deep water pressure monitoring buoys that would have given hours of warning time. The wave itself, using the Farris wheel (130ft tall) as a guide, would be nearly 200ft tall. The pier, Farris wheel and most of the building along the coast would be scoured off the land, with the wave advancing inland for over a mile and longer depending on terrain level.
This is from the show “9-1-1” The man and the child he’s carrying end up being fine. They get separated after this, and the man, named Buck, is a firefighter so he spends the day looking for the boy, his coworkers son, and helping people throughout the episode. He finds the boy and the rest of the episode is the firefighter team trying to save people.
I've seen that before and it was the most terrifying and awesome most powerful display of nature I'd ever seen up close in my life as a teenager. It was in Monterey Bay, Ca with my friends. We watched the tide get sucked out like that. Thankfully, where we at was an observation deck at the community college. n
@@jamesandrews4217 man you don’t know how fast I can run lol, and honestly I would only need to get under the pier as the pier would take the brunt of the damage, would I come out unscathed? Probably not, but I’d come out alive
Depending on how high it is, people for a specific amount of miles would be wiped out and killed anyways. They whole point is to think of the process your going to be hit with thick water at a specific speed which could knock you out anyways, you will be hard knocked into something of one direction and then dragged back out into see in the other direction. THINK CAREFULLY!
How do people NOT know that it’s a sign of a tsunami? I learned this passively when I was like 8 years old. At this point there have been enough examples in tv, movies, news, etc that you have to be a hermit to not learn this
Those were all tourists. Before the Japan tsunami, most people would not have known, especially those who live inland. The life guard immediately realized what was happening and hit the sirens.
With a wave of this height, 200ft, the entire west coast would be severely impacted. Tsunamis are normally caused by earthquakes with the sea floor shifting up or down many meters in height, underwater landslides displacing huge amounts of earth or a meteor impact. A fault shift of the Palos Verdes fault would be the closest to Santa Monica. If that fault moved enough to generate a tsunami of the height shown, it would have been immediately felt on the coast and the sirens would have gone off within minutes. Rule of thumb, if you're on the beach and you can feel the earth move, run. Nothing along the coast would have been left standing after a wave of this magnitude . The pier, Farris wheel, Santa Monica a mile inland would likely be scoured down to the dirt.
Contrary to the video and many commenters, most of the sea water being sucked out happens in less than 25% Tsunami. Watch the videos of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunamis or the Japan 2011 Tsunamis, it just did not happen, there was no warning. It just came in wave after wave. In most cases a tiny amount of seawater that is not noticeable to the untrained eye gets pulled out. But for something like this video to happen, the earthquake must be powerful & close, plus the seabed of the continental shelf or insular shelf (for islands) must be shaped in a way to allow the underwater portion of Tsunami waves to travel unhindered.
Why does non of them have basic survival instincts. You see a whole bunch of people gaucking in one direction. Like holy shit what is that? You start running, and if you're on the coast, try and get to high ground as soon as possible. Like a mountain or something. Not a fucking skyscraper, or tall building. Structural damage from debry can cause it to collapse.
