I have about 10 pairs of pants for spring-summer-fall, and I love it. Just bought another pair yesterday with a short blouse. Some of my t-shirts are linen mix and it always looks good.
I live in linen for 5-6 months of the year. I have been collecting linen pieces for several years but there weren't as many options as there are now. ❤ I'm not crazy about the wrinkling but feeling cool is worth it.
I’m not a trouser fan because I can’t get a good fit in them. But, I love my linen dresses, skirts and tops for summer. The first big heat wave is coming this week in the San Francisco Bay Area, fortunately all my linen items are ironed and ready to go (I iron them carefully after washing, then forget about the creasing when I wear them). I can’t tolerate even cotton when it’s 100F, linen is a lifesaver.
I finally found some looser fitting white linen pants that fit me well and are airy and comfortable. I am a total convert! I love wearing them with cotton, linen or bamboo tops during the hot summer weather we have been having in Canada! The natural fabrics make all the difference!

Love linen pants for summer. I found a black pair and a white pair for this summer. Both are white leg, but fitted a bit closer than the one Marie Ann showed. They are still very breathable, but don’t have the overwhelming fabric on the legs. Look a lot more flattering for my body.
I completely agree about the elastic waistband! Not flattering at all and does not smooth out or slim down the waistline. I would also love to add espadrille flats or wedges to the list of shoes to pair with linen trousers 😊 Merci for this video!

Love the olive trousers with the pink v-neck and belt! My problem with flowy linen is my lack of height (5’1”) so I feel overwhelmed with fabric below the waist. 🤣

I'm also a petite (5'1") as well, for my linen items I shop at Anne Taylor in the petite section I have been very happy with the selection and fit.
Same! I am only 5 feet. Linen bottoms, even petite sizing, are always too long for me. I sew and hem my own bottoms. Linen is easy to hem, so that is one of many reasons I love linen. Great tips Marie-Anne!

I like linen blend pants but really don't think the really loose pant legs are flattering. I prefer them a bit more tappered.

I have a big collection of summer linen pants in all colors, from neutrals to bright dark green, russet brown, beige, grey, navy, black, even red, etc... I wear them with short sleeve tailored swingy shirts, some with prints and others in gorgeous colors. I tie them with a small knot at my hips (I have a short torso and long, slim legs, so this brings the eye down from the top. I favor a slightly wide leg that comes just above or at the ankle, and a variety of sandals and even sneakers for a more casual, sporty look. I get a lot of compliments with this combination.

I do love loose-fitted, long linen pants with a low heel slingback for work. Keeps me cool but looking polished! I agree though that for weekends and holidays, sandals and sneakers are great!

And a sewing hack to change 100% elastic waist sewing pattern into a flat front with elastic in the back or sides only. Easy to add belt loops.

I picked up linen cotton blend trousers and love them.
They go over the past rail when I'm showering and that's all they need. Mine do have a side tie waist but they are blousy. I like them and they make me feel a little special.

I love linen! I always feel like I never really know what my 'style/look' is then yesterday I wore a lovely cornflower blue loose linen shirt and felt so 'me', like I'd found what I feel so right in....just have to move somewhere warm and sunny now as Glasgow just ain't doing it 😂
I love it when you compare the creases in linen to 'smile lines.' Summers in California can be really hot. I have both pure linen and linen-blend long pants that I wear to work and to restaurants. For ladies going through menopause, linen may just be the fabric of choice to help with hot flashes while carrying on with their daily lives.

Linen trousers are my absolute go-to for summer. Casual yet classy, you can dress them up or down. I do buy ones with a some elastic in the back, which is a bit more forgiving for me, and as I'm not tall, I buy a straight leg style without too much volume.Thank you, Marie-Anne!

Marie-Ann, thanks to your videos, I have recently fallen in love with linen, and I embrace the creases! Can you advise on the best type of bottoms (skirt or trousers) for a big stomach? I'm sure you have heard this a million times, but I still need more advice. I feel that if I wear structured clothes, they hang from the outmost part of my stomach leaving a large area of fabric unfilled and baggy, if you can picture this. Many of us are the type of plus size that isn't just a blown up version of a perfect size 10, with beautiful curves and a flat (ish) stomach. I, for example, carry all my extra weight on my stomach. I'm probably a size 16 but with a size 20 waistline. If it fits my stomach, it's a little loose on my hips. I can't wear dresses because they hang off me like Demis Roussos (God rest his soul!) Thanks to all your advice, I'm no longer hiding behind leggings and a baggy T-shirt!! (Oh the shame!!) I have realised, that whilst I am successfully working on my weight, I'd rather be chic and overweight than scruffy and overweight. When I shop, I don't necessarily say " Would Marie-Ann wear this?", as we are completely different shapes; but I do say to myself "Would Marie-Ann choose this for me?" and it's genuinely helping. Just a great big thankyou for helping me to stop hiding and stop fearing I will be noticed if I have put a nice outfit together and look good. Right, off to TK Maxx to raid their linen rail 😉

I have always loved linen. I have recently learned a valuable lesson. Linen tailored trousers that I bought in the spring have seemed too big and baggy and remained in the wardrobe. I attended a trouser pattern fitting course in October which taught me that I have a short rise which means that the crotch seam is too long. I took the waistband off, tinkered with additional pleats and darts, renewed the waistband back on without having to mess with the zip. Bingo,they fall better, sit better! Marie Anne, you are so right……Know your body shape for the best results

Very informative and though Linen definitely does have its merits, I do not appreciate its wrinkling properties so prefer to opt for quality cotton, silk or even gauze n its place.

Thanks so much for the additional helpful hints on linen pants. I found a couple pairs of classic linen trousers (GH) when they were discounted. The quality is superb and they are ultra comfortable. You are right that elastic waist linen pants will make the wearer look larger. I made that mistake with a pair of cropped high-waist/elastic linen pants (from another retailer) that within 30 minutes of wearing made me look huge. I don't have that problem with the GH classic linen trousers. I wore the indigo color today and I paired them with a sleeveless cropped one button popover in polyester fabric (shirttail hem). The cropped top still provided excellent coverage for the tummy and derriere. NOTE: I am a pear shape and very particular about how clothing looks from the backside.🤣 In other words, I'm not trying to make my derriere look bigger than it is.😂

This was absolutely perfect timing! I also don’t prefer to show my legs while I’m going through my third pregnancy because of varicose veins. They have not been very kind to me… So I have been opting for linen and long dresses! I have been very fortunate to find some nice linen pants second hand. You gave me some great inspiration on how to where am I sage, green linen pants though! I was only wearing them with black and white, but I see that they would look great with my other colors of teal and blue as well! And I could probably even pull off my yellow linen button down with them too.

I wish I could wear some of the linen pants. I'm short so the huge legs look a bit comical on me. I would have to spend more money to have them hemmed as well. I found some linen shorts and tops at Land's End which I like very much. I am grateful for elastic waists as I am on a weight-loss program, and find myself between sizes. The elastic waist gives me leeway for the time being. Love your videos, Marie-Anne!

I love linen and cotton for summer. I do not want to show legs anymore. I love how you refer to the wrinkles as laugh lines! I really don't care about the wrinkles....the fabric is beautiful, cool, and has personality!

When I was younger and much slimmer I always bought linen trousers one size up to get the fit I liked. Now I am not so young or slim I don't have the confidence to wear linen trousers any more.

Love your videos but most of the clothes don't work for a slightly plumb 5 foot woman. If I was thin and tall they'd be fabulous
It is all about taking inspiration and using your knowledge of your style to make the looks work for you - I did a video sometime ago on this topic I think it was something like How To Dress Like A Model. Just because you aren't the same shape or size as a model does not mean you can't take inspiration from what they wear 😘
