The ref did nothing wrong, she flattened the dent out, put the ball on the spot and he decided not to pot it. Nothing to do with sportsmanship or the ref, just Ronnie deciding not to pot a ball.
Nicely said, glad someone here's not a complete mentalcase trying to invent big problems and drama out of literally nothing.
At no point was the pot ever on, it was manufactured drama by ROS as always.. it was his tip the other day, then it was this, then it was the patch on his waistcoat. Nothing to do with the better man on the day, beating him ofcourse.
she spotted the black so the red didnt pot, then faffed about for 5 mins until she baltantly left it so the red went easily. basically she couldnt spot the ball correctly. is that ronnies fault?. i think after all the drama over it just didnt sit right with ronnie to pot the red, as it may of seemed like he was cheating.
She was useless, she should have replaced it the last time and made a mountain out of it. Once it was sorted he didn't want to pot it because she made him look like he was raging to cheat
@@craighardman8487 Exactly, and in other word, who's better at snooker, her or ronnie, I am talking rules here. the next thing is when the crowd was coming and he refused to play, she asked him to play, he said no, I can tell she's a good ref, but she miss judge some part of the game.
He is in the wrong here for me. She done nothing wrong atal
Weird criticising this particular ref as she always does her job well and fairly
Let's say: She does the best she can.
Not to mention how the hair bounces around when she walks and lean forward. Mmmmm
Not to mention she has a nice booty as well.
â@@balchana3365yeah, she's cute AF.
well she didn't this time cuz the black wasn't in it's spot sooo
as a snooker player hes a genius..as a human being hes a disgrace, nothing to do with sportsmanship, that was all about him once again
His game, is about him
He's not a sport-droid, churning out pre-written, scripted blurb and that is commendable
The HamBingler strikes again!!
Heâs a disgrace? đđ I sense a bit of jealousy because youâre a complete nobody đđ
Ridiculous to say the referee was cheating him. Sheâs one of the best on the tour
Hmmm, not so sure about that! She is constantly dropping balls and knocking other balls out of place, requiring the back end team to revert to cameras to replace the balls. In this instance the Red went if the Black was spotted correctly. Even when it kept rocking she stated she would only try one more time! That is not her decision. The ball has to be correct no matter how many times it needs replacing. When it was placed correctly it clearly potted, so without him queyring it, it would've (and ultimately did) cause an end to a break in a crucial frame.
She certainly wasn't when she forgot to warn him about losing the frame against Selby after his 3rd miss
@@dieantischeisse, sheâs quality is why. What century do you live in?
Women refs are notoriously bad
He didnât like it because she told him âthis is the last timeâ

Lol Not everything has to be addressed all the time mate

It was her that had the horrible attitude twice against him this evening. The way she spoke to him when people were entering the arena while he was playing was disgusting and at such a crucial stage of the match.
Bullying a female ref how pathetic Ronnie is.

A bit of food, a bit of Snooker, a bit of Chill out. WTF. Well done Mr Bingham by doing what you do best by dumping out an talented but Arrogant man called Ron.
Chill dude, O'Sullivan played the stuffed onion this time, I'd say he was more than graceful in defeat. He's got many more in him that's for sure.
@@user-sf7kl9uh7k The simps are going all out
1. The pot was never on.
2. She respotted it 100 times.
3. Ronnie thinks he is entitled to be rude to others because of his fame.
4. He is not mentally stable and always searching for perfection when perfect doesnÂŽt exist.
5. He needs to rest. He looks stressed out, but pretending not to be bothered about it in front of the camera.
100%
People saying that the red would pot using a bit of side is just dumb. Ronnie didn't go for the pot because he was playing bad and knew that it was a a 3 out of 10 pot and if he missed the red would be over the pocket fo Bingham.
But this is classic O'Sullivan. When he knows he's about to lose a big match then the ref and the crowd are going to be in the line of fire.
He always gives excuses.
He's a great player without question but I think he's a totally unlikeable character and I was absolutely delighted when Stuart knocked him out. He makes controversial statements from time to time and he knows exactly what he's saying and doing. This is yet another classic example from O'Sullivan.
Ronnie needs to mature a bit and give the refs a break.
A bit late for that nowâŠheâs just not a mentally stable guy at times

All the embarrassing ronnie fans think its the best piece of sportsmanship they have ever seen.
Get the tongue out his arse.
He is the best player to have lived but his attitude is and antics are pathetic. Tries to belittle referees his whole career, try belittle a grown man down the high street and see how you get on đ
It was blatantly obvious that the pot was never on, he was literally demanding a re-spotted black to try and gain an advantage. He's used this trick many times in the past...his attitude is disgusting.
Thankfully Steve Davis called him out for it.
His behaviour at times really is appalling. He did it again during the evening session when the fans from the other table kept filtering in. I completely understand why he was annoyed at it but he took it out on the ref again for no reason telling her to calm down when all she was doing was to trying to get it sorted. He constantly treats everybody in the sport like they're shit on the bottom of his shoe.
@@lf67hh28 What did Steve Davis say ?.
@mytmt1613 That he isn't convinced it was good sportsmanship, more likely that the pot was never on otherwise he would have taken it. Also said from his POV reviewing the shot, that it simply was never an option to pot it and that he was borderline rude to the referee.
So, the whole sportsmanship narrative is nonsense. đ
@@lf67hh28 It never looked on to me. Cheers mate.
What is McManus ranting about?? Did he see the clip/match at all? He talks about whether the black spot is available or not, if there is another ball hindering it, and how the ref should confirm this. This has nothing to do with the situation here.
Yes it does. Ronnie couldn't pot the red because the black was in the way here. That's basically what the tough Glasgow man is saying.đ
My thoughts exactly. I thought I was missing something
â@@Revolver1981But Ronnie COULD pot the red ....that's the whole point

Guy is a bell end... Retirement threat incoming.
I used to clean tables and have seen tables being re clothed while Iâm stood watching ,you wouldnât believe dust could get under the cloth and onto the slate ,but it does and more than you would think which can have an effect on re spotting balls
Ronnie is my hero when it comes to commiting yourself fully to something to the point it drove him crazy, but him calling the ref out like that is disgusting and so in the clouds its ridiculous, bit of a rubbish situation but the ref is just trying to do her job and she is in charge not ronnie
also telling her to chill over the spectators issue...ronnie needs to chill...ref is boss so tough
Yeah telling her to chill after it was himself that was making a meal out of it - bloke needs a straitjacket.
Fucking bullshit, he definitely did not have the angle to pot it. His own fault for leaving it near the spot. The ball was rolling off, but even when she flattened it out and it stopped rolling off, he couldn't see enough of the ball to pot it. FACT.
100%
Boohoo Ronnie's game playing antics didn't work. Well done Stuart Bingham.
Ronnie looking for a way out. Expect him to lose tonight.
Love Alan but it's nothing to do with whether the ball spotted or not, it's to do with the ball rocking on the damaged cloth.
Love watching Ronnie play; he's the best re the eye test by a country mile, but he's contradictory to listen too.
Bingham has him seriously ruffled. If he plays well this evening, he'll win.
That makes no sense at all! The reason it wasn't spotting correctly was because it was rocking. So she needed to solve that. The ball must spot correctly, no matter what!
The ball was respotted correctly. What wasn't shown was whether the red would pot once it was.
The bottom line is that Ronnie showed fragility by blaming the ref. It was an excuse due to pressure. Ronnie does this quite often when he's really feeling the pressure.
Like I said before, I love watching him play but when he starts moaning, bet against him.
@@waitz27 It wasn't spotted correctly originally, because the red would not pot. After 3 attempts when it went on correctly the Red did pot. Ronnie refused the pot, even though it went, so if he was looking for an edge or an excuse, why didn't he take it??
@@Greggieboy76 If I'm wrong, please forgive me but I didn't see a camera angle that showed the red was available once the black was correctly spotted.
However, my point was really regarding Ronnie's attitude to the whole situation. He sets himself up for failure by blaming the referee, who in my mind did all she could to correct any possible error.
If the red did indeed pot, then Ronnie should have potted it, his refusal to do so is nothing to do with sportsmanship.
My belief is that he already felt very much under the cosh and the result leaves me to feel confident in my prediction that he would lose, which he duly did.

He just called into question the integrity of many refs!! The ref clearly wasn't at fault, it's just the wear of the spot over many days of play. Ronnie as ever absolute disgrace to the game
And now hes out, Kyren will be champion.
Gilbert
No, Kyren has this in the bag.
I hope so . Bingham's not going to attract viewers or interest in the sport.
Bingham
Let's hope not
It appears that McManus hasn't seen the situation at all. It was never a question of whether the black could be respotted, but whether the red could be potted after the black is on its spot. For me this was very tight and they never showed the best possible camera angle, even after the final respot. It still appeared that maybe he needed a trace of side to pot it.
If only O`Sullivan took a lesson from Ray Readon`s manners and sportsmanship
Totally agree with Alan on this point.
he's completely wrong about it. it's not about whether it spots, it's about whether once it's on its spot the white can pass it or not.
@@hicksyfernI think thatâs what he meant, use the ball marker to see if the red goes even you can see the middle of the cross. He just didnât say it like that which is confusing đ€Šđ»

- takes the plaudits as a great sportsman when he's just being a nause.
alan missed the point completely. the black 100% did spot and that was never in question. he went on about how to work out if it is spottable or not. irrelevant stuff from him.

Agree so I do đ
He's super chilled
O'Sullivan is the Lewis Hamilton of snooker. All the talent and ability in the world - but the biggest wingiest, cry baby in the sport !
Ronnie's frustration at not being able to pull clear of Stuart certainly played a hand in all of this.
I've watched Ronnie play over the last 30 years, and I could tell he would struggle in this natch, right from the early stages.
He knows he's far better than Bingham but just couldn't find that touch and flow to pull away.
Good to see Ronnie Wood's grandad in the studio with Alan
He truly has fantastically realistic looking head of hair
I can never stop looking at Jimmy's jet black thatch..... it's a thing of ridiculous beauty
@@nicolanicholson4339 Ha! I thought it was Sharon Osbourne for a minute.
It wasn't an issue of whether the black spotted or not but that it did move alittle towards the cushion when the ref let it go so it was blocking the potential potting angle.
Exactly, God knows what alan was on about
A perfect concise explanation of the situation. Nice one đ
@@wheyayeman404 Yes I agree with you. Ronnie was needlessly making a scene there, just a waste of time. I don't think any ref has anything against Ronnie. He is just making it up.
Id like to know how the fucking doors are not closed after the frame starts. That was really bad crack. If you at the bar and not at your seat when the frame starts then tough fucking shit. Wait till next frame. Never seen that before. That would have put the players off big time. But Ronnie wasnt quite at it, and when Bingham is playing well, he's tremendous. Gutted Ronnie not getting chance his triple crown but it is what it is. Bingham is very likable and a great snooker player, he's surely the favourite now.
Everything apparently puts the players off these days. Someone coughs and they're making excuses... Dealing with normal little distractions that can always happen is part of any sport, deal with it and stop whinging. It's the same situation for all players.
Like sweet wrappers, seriously!? đ
He played like Gilbert O'Sullivan đą
Ronnie eats too much junk food like chocolate bars and crisps, which makes him 'edgy' all the time. Needs to chill out. The referee did nothing wrong both times and was just trying her best. Ronnie doesn't understand that his words will have upset the young referee a lot more than he knows as she will look up to him as a legend in the game.
What is Alan going on about? The black could always spot, that wasn't the issue? It was if the red potted, after it was spotted.
Ronnie a tool the way he spoke to the ref throughout the match.Out of order.Telling her to chill what a knob
0:37 they've got it in for me đ
Greatest player ever
Worst attitude ever
Greatest under acheiver too
great sportsmanship from both players to be honest. Ref asked Stuart to have a look and he said "I trust Ronnie, if he says it goes, it goes" and Ronnie doesn't go for the pot after getting the ball spotted correctly. I don't think Ronnies comments about ref having it in for him were necessarily directed at this particular ref in this particular incident. She is a great ref in my opinion, and also in the professionals opinions from what was said in commentary and in the studio. I can't see why Ronnie would have a different opinion. During the incident he even said " it's ok take your time" and Ronnie hasn't been that understanding or patient with other Ref's that he maybe doesn't have a high opinion of in the past.
There's a very fine line between sportsmanship and gamesmanship that much is clear...
what yous need is a transparent snooker ball that can be placed on any suspect spot to see if its in correct position
What Ronnie is saying here about the refs having it in for him is basically the same as Nottingham Forest saying the VAR assistant was corrupt because they were allegedly a Luton Fan. Both are accusing the officials of foul play and not officiating fairly. Wonder if there will be the same vociferous reaction condemning Ronnie as people had for Forest.
Spot on
Completely out of order. She did not have it wrong. The ball did not move at all sfter she had managed to flatten that divot. You can clearly see that and so could he. It's the same with the door-gate situation. She was telling the people to sit down and telling the person on the door NOT to let anyone in, she was annoyed as Ronnie when people then came in again after she had told him to not let anyone in. Telling her to "Chill" was so disrespectful.
From greatest piece of sportsmanship to being a petty jerk and acting childish to the ref.
I think the attraction of Ronnie is he's different , he plays in Ronnie's world in a world where everyone goes with the flow
Ronnie made a bad call and ended up out of position and then tries to get the ref to move the interfering ball out of the way. The "dent" was clearly where the ball was supposed to be anyway.
That was nothing to do with good sportsmanship. It's just him as usual having to be as difficult as possible, it just so happened in this instance his opponent benefited from it
Angles is always the voice of reason
The ref was SPOT on đ
Red was never on to my eyes.
The misplaced black could have benefitted him in a different situation, like if the white ball was on the other side. We can safely assume that he wouldn't have asked for the ball to be respotted if that was the case.
He's a great player but lacks character.
Stuart was the gentleman here.
Also Ronnie: "Some referees has it in for me..." Childish and not very sportsmanlike at all, is it?
Can't believe the pundits not praising the ref fair play to her for standing her ground she did her job despite being bout under pressure then being told to chill by oSullivan later he completely disrespected her everyone pussyfooting around oSullivan afraid to criticize him bless her Ronnie great player not sure about his attitude
he completely missjudged the position on the red, he was thinking he can pass the black which he couldnt by a mile. he played with the referee to trick them into a incorrect black spotting. the referee is overstained and o sullivan played his unsportslike games with her. he should get a warning but he can do whatever he wants, that was always the case with him. he thinks the ball rolls of the spot. this is new cloth just played a few frames. a roll of is impossible at this point. but even with no roll off he could never see the potting point of the red.
He had it in for the ref more like. He admitted in his interview that he was just trying to prove a point - A power trip if you like. I suspected this when he says "I think I'll play it". She kindly replies "it's your choice (to play the shot or not) and he just says "I know (pause) I know it's my choice". I was rooting for him up to this point
It's not her job to engage in banter with the players. Very unprofessional. As a ref she has to be above this nonsense.
Ron just tells them đ
Theyâve got it on for you due to unacceptable bullying on live tv - during matches
An absolute master of the game, let down completely by his tortured psychological frailty. âThe referees have got it in for meâ, being a classic example and all that nonsense with people coming down the stairs during his match with Bingham. Itâs always been part of mother natureâs forfeit that if she blesses you with special talent in one aspect, she takes away with weakness in another.
This guy needs to grow up.
He runs his mouth at referees throughout the years..âyou should get your eyes checkedâ âthatâs such a bad job refereeingâ âthatâs so badâ⊠he speaks Iâll of other players - Shaun Murphy why he plays and commentates- but he does the same for Eurosport..
Maybe he should take a break - heâll see why he wonât win the acclaimed sportsman of the year
Why donât they interview all players during the mid session? Eurosport PR team probably thought it was a good idea to trying to justify why Ronnie was disrespectful to the ref.
he wanted the eight more than anything else but wont admit it
She was a newish ref , she should have asked for second opinion.
The ref should have had this sorted out immediately, as her judgment is the only one that actually counts. The players don't get to express their opinion on matters like this.
Sportsmanship how?
Imagine walking into his house with dogshit on your shoeđ
damn Ron is exhausted - no wonder he quit
The ronnie appreciation society call this sportsmanship. It wasn't. It was self preservation. He saw the media narrative of "ronnie bullies ref to get his own way". So he played the original shot, he was being passive aggressive to prove his point.
Should we also talk about him telling the ref to "chill" in the evening session....
go on ron
Not sure id fully agree with Ali regarding Ronnie 'snotting' all over the place, (in the final they played a while back) but he certainly doesnt carry himself well around a table. I think its something to do with lack of class
alan is missing the point completely. they knew it could spot but it was rolling off the spot which was the problem. measuring if it could spot was not needed.
Some of the point was that the red was NEVER on if the black was anywhere near being perfectly placed. A better more precise way of spotting balls is needed though definately, why not lazer spot markers from the top shining down ?
â@@muckle8who's paying to install that at every venue?
@djsteves I wouldnât think it would cost much , they would certainly have a light bar they could attach a pin later too and it Is the world championships afterall!

the referee will learn to be more in charge of these types of situations with experience. Annoys me that he cant see the ref is trying her best BUT no matter what happens, ronnie, the ref and stuart are human beings.
Ronnie had every right to tell her to chill out. People were still moving about and she was telling him to play on. 2 seconds later the door opens again and people start flowing in. Disgusting and shockingly bad refereeing from her.

The thing is this: In such a tournament there only should be refs with experience and the commensurate authority. This is not a place to learn. She could be the video ref and help her colleagues respot after a miss.
Greatest player ever is a horrible human being ?
100%
Why put a question mark at the end? Are you asking us or telling us?
'Horrible' human being. Wow for friggin questioning a black respot in a game of snooker. Do you even understand the meaning of that word? Fragile much.
When watching this I thought her manner wasnât perfect. I remember her saying âIâm not spotting this againâ. I donât think that attitude is right. In the end it was rolling off the spot, as a player you simply want it precisely in its place otherwise the shot is compromised.
No point was made. The ref didn't invent the dent on the black spot. Don't know what's more embarrassing, the abuse of the ref or the fact Eurosport will do anything Ronnie says (like agree to give Ronnie this little interview specifically to dig out the ref). A broadcaster agreeing to undermine the refs who aren't millionaires and don't need the unjustified grief. Both Ronnie and Eurosport need to realise the world doesn't revolve around one player; 7 titles in 30 odd years; that means over 20 he didn't win. Get real.
Another sign when ref is not using the full extent of tools and practices available to them in their position. Ronnie sees the ball rocking after it gets respotted and does not want to take an unfair advantage. Good on him. Ronnie could have respotted the black himself and noticed it moving right there, the ref did not.
Gurning king
Well I'm a big Ronnie fan, but he was just being a dick in this interview. Not for the first time of course. Desi is one of the best refs we've got.
Retrospectively, Ronnie played bad for themes of the crucible. Talent can get you that far...Stuart has played a GREAT game. A 25 frame game very very very rarely comes down to a single ball...let alone one that was not "respoted" properly.
