  • The San Francisco City Attorney's office is investigating why a police officer from Marin County dropped off a homeless and mentally ill man in San Francisco, leaving him alone in a residential area with no resources.
In a video shared exclusively with ABC7 News, a police officer with the San Rafael Police Department is seen dropping off the man on 14th Avenue near Lake Street in San Francisco early in the evening on Saturday, July 30. Full story here: abc7ne.ws/3AhZMLH

So what? The state does nothing to discourage this. Homeless camps are popping up in even the most affluent cities. The cops and officials say they can't do anything about it in most cases. Sometimes, the camps are cleared out but they move a few blocks over. Meanwhile, taxpayers are moving out of state because of the cost of living and perceived high crime rate. Illegal and legal migration here isn't discouraged or stopped. Tell Gestapo Gav to close the state's border to prevent "undesirables" from entering and residing here. That will never be allowed.

@@ertfgghhhh you totally missed the point of my post.
It’s not for or against bussing it’s about the hypocrisy of white liberal elites.
      But to your point…
Being Latino, grown up in the projects and going to inner city schools from K-6th grade, then a foster kid and going to a 99.9% white school (that had bussing) from 7-12th grade, I can say with confidence that the contrast between inner city and suburban schools is astronomical.
The main reason is lack of parental involvement and support.
As an adult, I tutored inner city children in math and reading for years. We would sit in the back of a classroom and it would take the teacher more than half of the period just to get the kids to sit down and be quiet.
The kids who wanted to learn were bullied and called Oreos, Uncle Toms or coconuts.
The outcome for kids who are bussed is much better than those who are stuck in underperforming schools with kids who tease them for wanting to learn.
Rather than allow school choice they keep lowering the bar and grading them on a different scale in some areas.
Democrat run schools of course. Billions have been spent on inner city schools in my state and they’re all still underperforming. Dumping money into the schools will do nothing if the children don’t care about learning.
Money is not the solution. Parents instilling the value of education is!
I’ve seen the results of bussing and they’re promising.
The black folks I still keep in touch with who were bussed to my school are all successful adults, married and stable.

I can’t recall ever hearing of a cop giving someone ride, let alone across county lines. That cop should be fired!

The cop's job is to protect and serve the citizens of San Rafael. By taking out the trash, he did his job. He will not be fired.

Up in Canada they used to take natives "Stargazing" during the winter. Which means they dropped them off outside of town, during the middle of winter, far enough that they'd succumb to the cold before making it back to their families...

Think again. Look at the mission district and your policy. Change your policy and allow your police department enforcing the law aaaand prosecute criminals . Then it will no longer be a dumping ground.

San Rafael and other cities that every dropped off homeless/mentally ill individual into SF should answer and pay. This has been going on for decades. San Rafael is only apologizing because they got caught.
