- This is the intro from ABC Sports of the 2006 BCS National Championship Game between USC and Texas - arguably one of the greatest college football games in history. It was the final game for legendary college football announcer Keith Jackson, who called the action alongside Dan Fouts. This was also one of the final broadcasts that was branded with the ABC Sports name, as "ESPN on ABC" took over later in the year.

RIP Keith Jackson. The voice of college football.
Amen
Nobody will ever call a game like Keith Jackson. College Football will never be the same.
Again , This was Keith's finale and as they say If you're gonna go out, Go out on a high note and Keith did but this is how to end a Hall Of Fame Broadcasting career
If college football was a person, they would sound like Keith Jackson! RIP the GOAT
Before the 2005 season even began, everyone knew we would see USC vs Texas at seasons end. The star power, the buildup to the game won't be matched for quite sometime. Truly a "Game of the Century" like few that came before it. I miss ABC Sports, and Keith Jackson!!
Florida vs Oklahoma national championship 🏆 was good
If this don't give you chills.. I don't know what will
This will ALWAYS be the single greatest college football game that I have ever seen.
Correction, single greatest FOOTBALL GAME I EVER SEEN!!!
@@RocBoys2328 Miami vs Nebraska 1984 Orange bowl might have argument
The greatest fix that's all it was. usc would of blown those fog horns off the field
This is one of my all-time favorite college football intros. I loved the theme music ABC had for the Bowl Championship Series so the first 8 seconds or so really did it for me.
Same
Is there a video for this theme? I couldn't find it.
AnJuan Thomas oh yeah that’s the same for me also.
ABC Sports proudly presents the National Championship Game! The Grand Finale of the Bowl Championship Series!
Keith Jackson’s final game called. This intro showed that he was, and still is, the best in college football. RIP, sir.
The best voice in broadcasting.
Rest In Peace Keith Jackson!
BayTongan amen
The game misses him
The greatest college football game of all time being broadcasted by the greatest college football commentator Keith Jackson. RIP to the 🐐.
I actually cry every time I see an ABC Sports intro for College Football. Especially this one. Good times!
When ESPN ran this during the COVID sports doldrums it was incredible. Reopened peoples eyes to how good these teams were and how great the game truly was.
Farewell and following seas my friend. I’m so glad I was able to hear your voice for last time in this epic classic. Also, John we miss you too. Lookin up in the air☝🏾
This theme song should be resurrected by ABC immediately. This intro gives me goosebumps whenever I watch it.
This still gives me chills!!!
Oh my goodness, this introduction is just magical...
Dan Fouts is a very good announcer, underrated. College football's loss is the NFL's gain.
Thanks for the memories, Keith. We miss you. RIP!
i just got chills. "The weather is perfect, the field is fast"
Best college football game I’ve seen
The BCS belongs back on ABC!!
The Southern California Trojans and The Texas Longhorns. The Granddaddy of them all. The greatest national championship game of all time. To be honest was the last great championship game.
PS ABC Sports trumps ESPN's coverage of College Football.
Texas vs USC was a great game but I would put FSU vs Auburn National Championship game from 2013 up there with it too.
Johnathan Jenkins Miami/Ohio State and Auburn/Oregon were great too.
Johnathan Jenkins Your right I forgot about those games.
I think you can throw Bama vs Clemson from last year in as well. That was a magnificent football game.
Keith Jackson is the greatest sports commentator of all time.
This was such a legendary game with some of the greatest players ever. This is easily the greatest game I've ever seen.
An awesome intro to what was one of the greatest college football games ever played. Thank God for the BCS!! Little did anyone know that it would be the last football game for Keith Jackson "Mr College Football". That whole night was just so surreal to be true.
Keith Jackson was such a pleasure to listen to no matter what sport he did; Baseball, NBA, College Football. He was absolutely fantastic. His voice was great!
Oh My Goodness!
Beautiful!!! HOLY COW!
LOVE IT! Miss it so much.
Jackson does it right...
What a great game!!!
Thank you keith jackson
Keith was Legendary, thank you sir.
RIP to one of the best announcers ever ... Keith Jackson
“THE ROYALTY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS IN ASSEMBLY”
Greatest game I ever saw
Greatest game I've ever seen.
GO BADGERS!!!!!
this intro still sends chills up my spine. One of the happiest moments in my life was seeing Texas beat USC for the national championship
Wish they never got rid of this intro
As an OU fan this really was the end of an era of the late 90's and early 2000's era.
The only broadcaster who would always refer to USC Trojans as Southern California. Miss this guy
The ABC Sports BCS Theme music package would later be reused by Net 25 for the 2008 IRL IndyCar Series season. The intro of the 2006 Rose Bowl National Championship would become the basis of the intro of the 2008 Indianapolis 500
UT vs USC was probably the best football game I had ever watched. Each team answered each other with a quick drive or defensive stop and it went down to the wire to determine the national champion that year. I recall jumping and yelling like crazy when Vince Young glided into the end zone. Makes me want to watch the replay again!!! =D
Amen--I'm a Florida Gator fan born and raised and love watching the Rose Bowl every year! I hope we can make it there this year and watch it--hopefully to play the Longhorns! That'd be an epic match.
RIP Keith Jackson the voice of CFB
one of the best games i ever saw.
Coming from an sec fan this was the best national championship game because it wasn’t a blowout... instant classic!
The BEST ever.
I'm a Gator fan, I'm envious of any team that was involved in a classic like this. Hope the Horns make it through this season to play the Gators...I think that'd be the most exciting match of the season.
Keith Jackson was the best! Whoa Nelly!!!!!!!!!'
Keith Jackson's the dean of college football announcers.
We’ll be lucky to have 2 playoff games like this in the same season. 🌹 🏈
From what I understand, the BCS Championship Game is now completely separate from all the other bowls and their names. So when the Rose Bowl is the site for the national championship game again, the Rose Bowl will be played as usual (on ABC) and the big game will be played in Pasadena a few days later (on Fox), but it will be referred to as the BCS National Championship Game, not the Rose Bowl.
I like the 0:04-0:16 part in the beginning, not to take anything away from the game itself
Very fitting that this was Keith Jackson's last game.
Anybody who was into college football in the early 2000s remembers this game!
god i wish i could watch sportscenter from that night.
This was college football was all about. Keith Jackson, better yet "The Great Keith Jackson," called his final game here. What a treat for us college fans for him to call one of the greatest games of all time on his last game called.
Texas fans. You guys are loyal to the extreme. Its not only high school football you guys have a passion for. The 2 times you have come to Pasadena you have presented yourselves as loyal and nobble as possible. I feel bad that Colt Mc Coy got injured on that play and it changed the whole ball game. All of us will never know how this 2010 championship game would have ended. However, you guys have a great team and coach and I believe you guys will be back in the mix in a heart beat.
I got chills watching this.
Keith Jackson has no equal in College Football. He is the voice of ABC College Football.
Musberger is great, but Jackson is in a class of his own.
Greatest College game I have ever seen along with the Boise St. Oklahoma game in 07.
yeah i loved that song
YES!
The royalty of college football is in assembly, at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl 2011. Ingram. Richardson. Pryor. And their legion.
i really want to hear that this year
2006 was a sad year sports TV. Keith Jackson retired, Al Michaels went back to NBC along with John Madden, Musburger and Jim Durham would work their last NBA Playoffs on tv and Durham would work his last NBA Finals on radio, Monday Night Football would move to ESPN, the BCS would move to FOX and Dick Enberg to #3 on the NFL on CBS just to name a few things. Some good came out of it like James Brown going back to CBS. In 2007 the only bad was the NBA's contract with ESPN/ABC/TNT extended to 2016.
College football on ABC...Please bring it back.
Just like Vin Scully is the greatest to ever call a baseball game.....Keith Jackson is by far the greatest to ever call college football.
Keith Jackson is the best sports announcer ever.
Yes, a one man team who single handidly beat a great USC team that was so potent on offense. His performance was one of the greatest ever.
I'm a huge USC fan but this was probably the best n'tl championship game I had ever seen. I still am bitter about the 4th and 5 thing but VY is a damn beast. The build up was awesome and they lived up to it every play
This was keith Jacksons last game that he called? Man he was the greatest.
As USC trojans fan this was one of the greatest BCS title game ever! It was hard to watch them lose (still questioning Carroll's play calling going for leinart going for it on 4th down should've punt it and back up texas) but give credit to Texas they played with swagger because it was felt like them vs everyone because they knew USC was the team to beat and they wanted to make a statement of their own
Yes Keith Jackson is the best
@RockyTop4Life 2005 National Championship game was USC vs. Oklahoma, where USC obliterated the Sooners 55-19 in the Orange Bowl. However, Auburn was ranked 3rd in both human polls and the computers (and a rather distant 3rd in the computers at that). But yeah, that was one of those years that just shows why we need a playoff.
greatest game ive ever seen in my life
This is the only game I've seen that actually lived up to the hype.
the best game i have ever witnesed
Rest in peace, ABC Sports.
Please come back Keith Jackson PLEASE!
Bring the national title back to ABC!
And put the NBA on NBC!
Rest in Peace Keith Jackson🙏🏾
My childhood , oh the nostalgia
Good Video
My tape of this game was ruined about a year ago, I will pay for a copy of this game.
This game marked the end of college football's golden era.
It was that one touchdown where Young pitched the ball as he was going down, but his knee was down while the ball was still in his hands. Everybody saw it and it should have been reviewed, even the announcers said should have been overturned.
Legendary game!
You got your whoa Nelly an the big house and touchdown calls by Keith but when I hear him say "the young sophomore " I live it.i do a fairly decent Keith impersonation an if you say whoa Nelly or touchdown Michigan or the big house ppl smile but when I throw in the young sophomore my boys go crazy.....the two most iconic booth voices hands down Howard cosell and Keith jackson.a this is Howard cosell or a whoa Nelly will always be synonymous with football. rest in peace Keith you will be missed
Probably best game of all time
Damn I miss that voice. Keith Jackson- whoa nelly!
Keith Jackson a lucky guy. His last ABC Sports event was one of the great events of the year, Texas Vs. USC for the National title. Al Michaels' last ABC event may have been the Super Bowl, but it wasn't a great matchup: Steelers vs. Seahawks.
The game that lived up to the hype...
Yes. Yes it was.
Thanks! I saved this video with savetube :D
I could live the rest of my life without hearing Dan Fouts say "It's time to get it on."
Keith Jackson was the man
They did release a dvd of this game
As much as I'd put my hope into it, I seriously doubt the intro's will be back. ABC Sports only concentrated on two things in the 1st half of the "Aughts"; College Football and Monday Night Football. ABC Sports was soon integrated into ESPN (and "The ESPN Family of Networks".) There have been no "cinematic" intros for regular season games that are of the style (they do not even use the same score as the ABC Sports ones) of ABCS. I do not believe this will be resurrected.
they are a growing powerhouse they showed that against the hor in 05' and 09' in 2005 they lost by 11, and in 2009 they lost by 10. You watch it coming soon.
He's the man
Doubly sad to watch - as this was the final College Football broadcast with the ABC Sports brand and the final broadcast for Keith Jackson!
i think abc is going to do both the national championship and the rose bowl this year thank god
R.I.P Keith Jackson
They forgot about them because it was the 2004 season when Auburn went undefeated. USC played Oklahoma for the championship at the Orange Bowl.
Amen my brother! Fox's coverage takes for stinking ever!
R.I.P Keith.
biggest college football game ever!
@gsloehr Whats up man. Tell me what do you think if Texas does go to the Big 10?? Honestly, it makes alot of sens for business purposes. If they can keep at least some of their rivalries alive then I dont see why they shouldnt make the move. Your opinion please. As here in the Pac 10, we are considering getting both the Utah schools in BYU and Utah in here.
