Just started to learn how to fish with my kids 😅 teaching myself , as I try to teach them too. Didn’t catch anything our first time . Gotta learn as much as I can 🙋🏻♀️!!
I agree, a method feeder with a quiver tip rod is a very easy set up, no need to plum the depth of the lake if you were float fishing, very easy rigs to set up and can be set up within 10 mins and you're fishing
Caught my personal best carp yesterday, as a relatively amateur angler it's really nice to confirm I landed it using correct methods shown in this video :)
I usually do pike fishing etc never looked into carp fishing until now and it takes a lot for me to be able to sit and watch full videos on people talking about tips and stuff like that because they usually just babble on but you my friend explain perfectly and tell me everything I want to know down to a T! Can’t wait to get my set up and get fishing hopefully catch myself a carp thanks keep it up
Super excited for this video! I've been struggling with the bigger fish in my local lake because there are just so strong! Thanks so much this is going to really help me!
Again another really helpful tutorial! Always loved you and your brothers fishing videos, it was you and him that made me take the leap into the world of carp fishing! In a world that seems dominated by older anglers, it was always nice to see you two breaking the norm while at the same time really helping everyone else with your teachings 🙏 thank you both 💙
Its nice to hear someone who can relate to anglers from all levels, I'm not sure if this is a good tip, but I tend to have the drag set tight enough to give decent pressure to the fish constantly, but leave a bit in the tank, that way I can use a finger or my hand to hold the spool if I need to apply more pressure to the fish to prevent it reaching a snag or to tire it out a but quicker.
Ive been getting done on a regular basis by the the carp heading right into the lilies around the swim at my club lake Watched this yesterday and successfully got one out today priceless info mate! Nice one!
Carl, this video is truly amazing. When I started fishing i had a shitload of hookpulls. And found out that it was my rod, not bend with enough pressure at all time. This video Will help a lot of new anglers, good job 💪💪💪💪
Absolutely excellent videos simple tips that both new and seasoned anglers can appreciate and learn from Also I love playing fish on the back wind I find there is so much more control but you'll definitely end up with a huge tangle as a beginner when you cast out and again and forget to click the back wind off again 🤣 definitely learned that lesson the hard way
Would love a indepth video on the rods and reels you use for carp fishing 🎣. I just recently ordered a diawa black widow reel and a 10ft diawa black widow rod. I'm hoping I bought the right combo. Also as a USA carp Fisherman with no access to tackle shops here with carp tackle. A good website recommendation to buy gear would be awesome! Great content guys! I am from Connecticut and carp fishing here has grown in popularity, we even have trophy carp waters here designated by the state. The state record being 43 pounds!
I grew up fishing very regularly, and went on fishing holidays every year until my late teens. I only recently joined an angling association and started fishing regularly again after about 20 years of only fishing on the odd occasion. Watching this video I just realised that most of the things you are advising I actually do without even thinking about it. The only thing which is taking some getting used to is modern methods and tackle. I was nervous about landing my 1st carp since coming back fishing, but once it got on the hook it just felt like the last 20 years had disappeared and I was a young lad fishing again and it cane back so naturally to me, which was a pleasant surprise.
thanks Carl ive only just started fishing my great grandad used to do it and when he passed away my great nan gave me his rods and ive caught perch and thats it but ive got all the kit for carp so im going to learn to try and catch carp cause im going a fishery after chrismas so thanks Carl for the tips and by the way if u could for a video around my area is doxy marshes a good place and it has a big lake to fish in holdes good carp and pike so if u would go fishing just giving you a idea anyway thanks alot :)
My dad has caught several carp to 20lb on 4lb line, size 12 hook and on a light float rod... its the angler more than the tackle 90% of the time Personally I use slightly heavier line, but it is just preference
Great video again Carl, really helpful. I must admit I prefer the backwind method (Taught to me by a wily old angler on the Kennett in my younger days when I was losing too many Barbel) but as you said in the video, personal preference. Will be sending this over to my brother who got back in to angling last year and has lost Carp on a couple of occasions through over exuberance
learning how to juggle ur way to reel in a big fish definitely takes practice although in some situations it can be difficult to match a good balance like snaggy areas
Carl what a fantastic video, some great tips along with flawless presentation. Just come over from watching your brother loose his bees from his video! 😂 keep up the great work
A clear and concise Summary to guide Beginners, Well Done! Some explanation of Bait Preparation and Carp Fishing Weather would not go amiss either, just as long as the delightful Omi is involved to add a touch of Glamour!😉 I've come over to the Dark Side to watch your Video, I'm actually a Roach Angler so to me a Size 18 Hook is Large!🤣
Caught my first carp (USA) last week thanks to you and your tips! Largest of the day was 27" and smallest was 24". You're a beast and keep up the great content!
Hi Carl, I don’t do a lot of big carp fishing so normally use a feeder rod and have landed fish to 18lb using this technique. However when I do use carp rods and reels and bite alarms I like to use bait runners and currently have Diawa Emblems BR 25s . What’s your take on bait runners? Informative video by the way👍
I lost a pangasius fish today and broke the tip of my rod. I watched this video and learned many new things. I'll try again tomorrow. I hope I can finally land a big one.
6:00 i just reel normally, even if the fish is taking line, if the fish suddenly turn towards me and starts swimming i have no worries. It does get a bit more difficult. Once i went trout fishing HOOKED A MONSTER and jsut kept on reeling and reeling and reeling... after a couple minutes fight i caught a..... 5.2LB (2.4kg) Rainbow trout it was a amazing 52 cm, suprised a 11 year old like me could even reel a trout like that in since trout are very big fighters, it was my 2nd time trout fishing, i was used to pike fishing since thats what i did for like a year straight. Welp yeah thats just a story, love your vids btw
Hi Carl, what a great video! One of my pet hates in fishing is seeing people who appear to have no idea of how to play fish. One example being Bob Mortimer on Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. Bob often hooks into a fish of whatever size, and all he does is wind in and appears to take no notice of what the fish is doing. I know it’s a tv programme and he might just be doing it for effect, he’s supposed to be a fairly experienced angler, but it really winds me up OCD style lol. But I have seen people out and about with little fishing experience doing the same, personally I find it very difficult to explain to someone how to do it, but your video is spot on for anyone who doesn’t know how to do it! 👍🏻
Thank you Graham. So pleased you enjoyed it :) Haha yes I know what you mean! I think Bob is supposed to know nothing and Paul is trying to help him. Hence that automatic reeling! I help my partner with that as new anglers can have that reflex until they learn not to, and learn to watch the fish, which does take a bit of practice. But that's fishing isn't it! Lots of practice, and getting that feel for it, which yes, can be really hard to explain.
I guess my question to you is what strength line is best to put on your spool? Carp fishing in a lake that has various high end 20lbs and a number of 30lb + , what strength line would you use? Is it right to get a 40lb Line so then you know you can catch or is something like 10lb line ok?
I learned this about barb less hook's the other day on the river Thames when I was playing a monster fish. I let the tension off for split second and lost it. I will be using barbed hooks from now on. 🙏🙏
Ive had it quite a few times when you get a violent take where the bobbin cord or bead wire fraps up around the line then you pick up the rod an everything else on the pod is in a heap on the floor an im left trying to untangle my bobbin from my line, any suggestion on how to avoid this?
5:00 with drag.. i like to put it on tight but ones i get a bite.. i will open it a lot and just put my finger on the spool and create my own ''drag''. i like te control that it gives me. its direct and you can really feel the tip of the rod and the line that its taking. its right under your finger.
How do u set up the rod and line lay when u fish on the raised rod tips carl . I always fish down but not sure it's right any feedback would be grateful . Another cracking video as ever mate
How could I prevent my hooks from coming out when using pop ups, alot of time when I get it close to the bank to land it it'll pop off randomly.im gental when fighting the fish so I know the hooks isn't ripping out, usually I keep my hook link around 5 inches
Hi carl I’ve been carp fishing for about 6 years I’m 17 now but I want to start going to bigger lakes with bigger fish etc and I want to get a real set up that can land big fish can you make a vid showing us some or the ones you use thanks
Hi mate, I recently did this video about settling up a carp rod: czcams.com/video/t2pv64sLFGY/video.html (I use a Daiwa Crosscast 10ft 3lb testcurve rods with Daiwa gs 4000 reels)
Love watching your videos I haven't fished in At least 10 years since I killed a fish by accident float fishing it swallowed the hook and it bled out and I have no idea how that happened I couldn't fish after that
I went out today and I lost every fish I hoked. I dont know why? I used barbless size8 then I switched to barbed and still lost them could my rig be an issue? Bait too far from hook? I am baffled... I couldnt land 1 to save my life...
Have watched the channels for a few years now and both you and Alex always create great content for all anglers and I'm sure a lot of us viewers have improved our angling because of you guys, I know I have. Keep up the good work and don't stop doing what we all love. Tight lines bud.
I went fishing a couple of days ago. I don't fish for carp. Always float and maggot. With a telescope rod Caught a lovely carp 5+ lbs, it was a proper battle with my cheapo rod and reel. Loads of fun struggled to get it in the net
Might be good to do a tutorial on balanced tackle If a known fishery only has up to 20lb Carp a lower test curve rod to take any lunges lighter line and the importance of the hooklink strength so any breakage will be only the hooklength I use a 10lb colmic teck stream line of .185mm 5.4 kg ( just under 12Lb for hooklinks ) and a 15lb feeder mono mainline usually a size 10 hook fishery rules dictate hook size Carp up to around the just plus 20 lb I use a Preston feeder rod which is very through action .I see people using 3.5lb test curve rods that have the action of a broomstick then wonder why they get hook pulls
Hello dear we are from other part of world , English isn't our mother tounge and some times difficult to understand when you use it fluently ,we love your videos so much ,please add subtitles or speak a little slower ...❤️❤️❤️ Loads of love ...
Nice tutorial. I lose a lot fish by head shaking and use the lead. Im going to try the helikopter-rig instead of the lead clip i hope that wil help. Do you have any tips ?
Trying to teach my lad how to fish. Whilst not really knowing how to fish myself. Only ever caught 3 carp. 1 at Hackett lakes Nottingham and 2 at belvoir castle small lake. Now small peach. Roach I catch all the time. But I enjoy being outside all day so no bother if I don't catch a monster.
Can you tell us more about your setup(reel, rod, etc.) and where to buy it? I'm looking for a good rod and reel. My budget is 100-120 pounds per rod setup(I need 2), I need i spod rod too. I'm a amature so I don't need anything professional.
This is a Daiwa Crosscast 10ft 3lb testcurve rod with a Daiwa gs 4000 reel :) they're decent! and might be more around £130 per set up if you can stretch to it? Well worth it and for the quality too at that price.

Just started to learn how to fish with my kids 😅 teaching myself , as I try to teach them too. Didn’t catch anything our first time . Gotta learn as much as I can 🙋🏻♀️!!
Try using method feeders mate if your only just learning. And small well stocked lakes to begin with. Hope you catch a few with the kids 🤞🏻👍🏻
As said above, it’s hard to go wrong with a method feeder.
I agree, a method feeder with a quiver tip rod is a very easy set up, no need to plum the depth of the lake if you were float fishing, very easy rigs to set up and can be set up within 10 mins and you're fishing
Try float fishing with maggots good to start off don't go for carp with kids unless you're fishing a well stocked lake
Start with small rudd and roach on a wagler float. Remember dont set the hook to hard
After a few years break from fishing I really struggled playing larger fish, wish this video had been around then. Great advice.
Caught my personal best carp yesterday, as a relatively amateur angler it's really nice to confirm I landed it using correct methods shown in this video :)
Congrats! That's awesome :)
Well done!! Amazing to hear that :)
I'm an experienced angler and I still enjoy these vids. My advice is go with people you know who fish and enjoy
My second year fishing, I'm going night fishing for carp this Friday and thanks to your videos I feel more clued up now, thank you and happy fishing 🎣

@beany118118 every now and again I don't get as much chance to go now cause I have a full time job :( haha
@@TrailBlazingTalesTV good to know , same here I work 50-60 hours a week but get 5 days off every three weeks which is ideal for fishing weekends :)

@@mulletmanpete from what I’ve seen with a lot of Americans, not all, is they always fish too heavily tackle-wise! Not very sporting!

Are there specific pegs for right drag? Or would a stick work
What lb line would you recommend for carp up to 27lb but mainly around 20s 👍🏻
Just learning.....I enjoyed the video....can I ask why rods are pointing up in rests and not level like I see at lake.
Post a video about how to use a cobra for baiting up, would be great help😁

I haven't fished in At least 10 years since I killed a fish by accident float fishing
it swallowed the hook and it bled out and I have no idea how that happened I couldn't fish after that
Can you explain why reels have a switch on the bottom to make it spin backwards and forwards?
Love your videos... Where can we get drag line like yours?
btw at around 6:40 you where talking about "pump and wind" which is pretty self explanitory and helpful
Glad to hear it Charlie :)

my personal opinion on barbed vs barbless. barbed for catch and cook, barbless for catch and release.
12lb carp line size 6-4 work perfect

Some good tips there for beginners how's your koi pond doing I have just finished my one 15ft long 15ft wide 4ft deep hopefully fish end off week 😀
It's good thank you! Glad all has been sorted and have started to really enjoy it. That's great to hear! All the best with yours mate :)

When I clicked on this, I thought it would be all review for me. I was wrong!
That’s nice to hear! Good luck with your fishing :)
is a 20 pound carp clased as a big fish
great channel! Thank you!
You're welcome, thanks so much!
Size 4 & 6 hooks seem so small. I caught a 18 pound (8kilo) carp with a 1/0 octopus hook with anchovies.
