One of the best and most timeless songs ever. 2022 and I'm still loving this like the first time I ever heard it in my teens... And I don't give a f### how old that makes me!
I'm seventy and I've always loved great music and these guys were brilliant. Some bands produce timeless music and Del Amitri is one of those bands. My body is worn but my spirit is still young age isn't a sin it's just how we see ourselves.
Don't worry about age, it's only a number, if we cared so much about that we might as well all give up but time is just change & as long as we keep it real to ourselves and we are happy then that is what matters, also I know that my picture is of the Joker but I am being dead serious
It's probably because the narrator in the lyrics 'fessed up to cheating on the girl, and her being the last to know. To me that's the beautiful twist of the story, the thing that makes the lyrics stand out, and it is reflected in the instrumentation too - they bring it down to the somber there. But some people get their knickers in a twist very fast. Not that there's anything beautiful about the breaking of a heart, but singing about it can be - processing it in any way really. Without it, there would be little art left, me thinks.
@@davidhubbert9445 ....been seeing them live twice .....they were fantastic both times ....would highly recommend seeing them if you get the opportunity.
I loooove Del Amitri. Justin's voice is always brilliant. And they have friggin awesome chemistry with each other. 💞 I'm flying from Australia to Scotland in 2 days to see them in December. They're the only band I would cross the world to see. I've never been overseas and I only hope they've got all the snakes off the plane.
I started to read your comment and it's so strange. One of my followers on twitter also did the same, but last week - following Del Amitri to Ireland then to Glasgow from Australia. I remember the song, but in the 90s I was busy surviving and didn't remember the band's name. Had to look them up, and came across your comment. There must be more fans in Australia if I've now seen two in a short time who follow them.
@@VincentPinner Nope. There was a vast difference between mainstream music from 90-95 to 96-99. I mean, suicidal songs like 'The drugs don't work' by the Verve got to no. 1 🙄
The lyrics are superb but very sad in their reflections on a failed love, regret about loss and that revelatory twist at the end- has to be one of the cleverest lines in pop. Not so sure about the middle eight where the song seems to lose its way a little but it's a small point compared to the rest of it. There it is again-the twist just as I type this!
this song makes me feel so nostalgic, me my mum and my gran was having a few drinks last night, and we put this on. all singing our hearts out, just enjoying life. I'll remember that moment forever
So I have loved this band since about 91. They are just wonderful. I recently saw them in Brisbane Australia. What’s funny is Justin shuffled and twirled around the stage like a giddy child. It was really a special Night. The concert was crammed withall the best songs played with perfection with just enough difference from the originals to make them interesting and fun. Plus the new album stuff was just tops. You really can’t beat Del amitri for a great concert night out

Saw these guys last night at Barrowland. Still spine tingling after all these years, this one was their encore which was just awesome but then followed by Be My Downfall which was always my favourite. Unforgettable, truly.
Del Amitri were one of the finest bands to come out of Glasgow. Like many others such as Stone the Crows they never got the recognition they truly deserved. Brilliant music.
Saw them three times during their summer tour in 2018. These guys are still kicking ass on stage, sensational live band. They love what they do, they know their fans love it and it shows. Love the Dels!
Just saw Justin's Parkinson's diagnosis, gutted for him. All my love to him and his family.
yeah, cruel way for a musician to see their years out :(
He ain't gone yet, tho...so savour.
Horribly sad, but it is not the end. Michael J Fox keeps fighting.

Me too. It was an amazing decade. I feel lucky I was there!!
They did invent a time machine. It's called CZcams and we're all here for the music.
