Quality wise, TTG isn't terrible. My main problem with TTG is just how often it's been shown. Like two years ago, instead of showing Christmas specials of the classic cartoons like they used to do, CN instead showed NOTHING but TTG. Like literally, Christmas eve through Christmas day was nothing but TTG episodes..

The only issues I have with TTG at this point are it’s continuous asphyxiation on the success of other Cartoon Network series, as egregiously displayed by their hatred to Regular Show’s presence, and how it basically bred conceited writers who think they’re above criticism, which may be why we have an atrocious excuse for subverted expectations and plot twist, as well as glorification of terrorism and genocide in both Star vs. and MLP’s grand finales.
Rant aside, TTG is otherwise harmless in the grand scheme of things if corporate favouritism and executive bigotry didn’t have to be in the way so much.

That's exactly it, corporate favoritism is exactly what's strangling the life out of CN.
If it's cheap and easy and can churn out tons of content with little effort they jump at it.
It's basically the "streaming effect" where they are making more content to be consumed on apps than anywhere else. Small bit sizes non serialized content.

Fun fact about the scene where buttercup gets kissed by an adult woman. I found an interview with Steven universe creator, Rebecca Sugar where she states that that episode aired before the episode where ruby and sapphire, a lesbian couple, got married. In this interview, Rebecca states that the censors were incredibly hard on her because she wanted to treat ruby and sapphire as a legit intimate couple. This caused a lot of pushback, meanwhile the censors didn’t object to the kiss in PPG because this scene where an adult woman kissed a child was treated as a joke. So basically Rebecca confirmed that LGBT scenes where the situation is treated as a joke and/or wrong were let off the hook, while genuine representation wasn’t allowed

If I ended up writing the final season of Family Guy, it'd probably be a succession of executions. It starts when a man knocks on Quagmire's door. Quagmire answers, the man says "Glenn Quagmire?", Quagmire responds "Yeah.", then the man pulls out a gun and shoots him in the chest, then square in the head. He then walks away. The other guys talk it over with Death to try to ask for a favor, but Death tells them "You're done. No more protection, not even for jokes. I've cut you guys too many favors. Your time's up, and you're all gonna get what's coming to you.". They then go to investigate Quagmire's murder, and find out that it was a hitman by someone he knocked up in an unwanted encounter. The hitman and the woman who hired him do face legal reprecussion, but Joe openly admits that Quagmire got off way too easy, and that he should've had life in prison years ago.
Following all that, each successive episode kills somebody in a similar way. No reason to get into other specifics for everyone, but Peter would probably die in a cutaway gag and not come back from it to make clear what Death meant by "not even for jokes.". Brian dies by eating chocolate out of the garbage for continuity, Stewie tries to save him using his time machine, but it malfunctions and while not necessarily killed on screen (not that the show wouldn't do that, Bertram), he's stuck so far in the past that he's never making it back to his own time. Probably the only one to survive would be Meg.
Ya'know, Family Guy - The Creepypasta Season. Maybe even complete it by having unique intros that all run as if they're completely normal, but with the characters that have died gone and their voices today. So if Lois dies before Peter, then it just hangs on the piano until Peter starts his part as if she were still there, but she's not.
Just burn it all to the ground.

And then this happens: Peter: “So what happens now you gonna kill me too?” Writer: “I was. You have no idea how much I want to kill you Peter. In fact every single fiber of my being is telling me to kill you. But then this voice in my head tells me not to.” Peter: “That’s good. Listen to that voice.” Writer: /smiles in a sinister way/ “But then it hit me. No Peter I won’t kill you because I got something so much better for you in mind.” Peter: “Should I be worried? I feel like I should be worried...” Writer: “Well you should be Peter because I’ve decided to let you live the rest of your days as the very last human being on Earth!” /laughs all crazily/ Peter: /not fully getting it/ “That sounds...awesome! You know you had me worried for a second there. What with all your crazy laughter. So does this mean I can watch all the tv I want for free? And do I get to go on a looting spree and get everything I ever wanted for free without risking prison time?” Writer: “Yeah you can loot for awhile, but no tv!” Peter: “Aw well why the hell not?” Writer: /groans/ “You’re not really getting this, are you?” Peter: “No. But yay no more Meg!” Writer: “Really? Did you seriously feel the need to end this on a I hate Meg joke? See this is one of the reasons why I want to kill this show! And also all your friends and family dead. Don’t you care? You know what why do I even bother to ask you that! Of course you don’t! I hope you die a slow, agonizing death all alone.” /starts to walk away but comes back shotgun in hand/ “Oh forget it!” /shoots Peter/ “Wow that was really satisfying!”

      @ThatguycalledJoe Před 4 lety +25

TheVanishing87 To each their own interpretation. I'd probably try to make them all ultimately be self-inflicted, either directly or indirectly. I.E. Quagmire gets whacked by a hitman that was hired because of something lacking in consent that he did to somebody, Peter kills himself for a joke (like at the end of Into Harmony's Way) but Death just tells him "I warned you, not even for a joke.", also explaining in a roundabout way how Peter came back after the various times he's died for a joke, Brian eats the chocolate out of the garbage knowing full well that he shouldn't just to vaguely call back to that Stewie Griffin special, that sort of thing.
Even the most ridiculous thing I can think of off the top of my head, which would be killing Stewie in an over-the-top protracted Danganronpa reference, would ultimately grind back to being his own fault because it'd be set up by him turning Rupert into a robot best described as a war machine, plus Rupert would probably decide to act as a result of Stewie killing Lois, for whom it could be said as being her fault for having Stewie in the first place, though more likely I'd write her as having started treating him abnormally poorly after Peter died.
A theme of "It always comes back to you.", as it were.

As an adult I can see how that would make sense if you only catch a little bit of the show and don't know her character beyond her being the Mayor's assistant, but as a kid I just though it was a joke about her being really tall like Wizard Kelly in The Proud Family.
If her design was a problem the solution was not to remove her; it was to show her face. Not have her be this figure that's only seen from the shoulders down. That it. I'm just gonna say, Ms. Bellum is one of the best executed jokes in animation history. She's the smartest character on the show, has the sharpest wit, and gets the most done of any of the secondary cast just because she knows how everything in the world works. But because she's sexy, that's all anybody sees in her. To get that point across, they intentionally crop every shot she's in so that her head is cut off, drawing attention to her very large boobs. The show is literally showcasing you what everyone sees in her, despite her being probably the most competent secondary character - certainly more competent than the man she works for. It's absolutely brilliant.

Breadwinners and Sanjay And Craig may be stupid and gross, but at least they aren’t particularly harmful. This show has the bad writing that those shows have, and bad morals to boot. And while Teen Titans Go’s “morals” usually feel like parodies of the genre or satire, like they don’t actually mean what they’re saying, this show uses them on purpose, or at the very least didn’t think through their implications.
So debatably it deserves its place in Number 10 for having bad writing with being such a terrible influence on children; and while doing it in such a stereotypical cliche way that it doesn’t even feel like misdirection or satire; but it’s just frustrating. I miss some of his angry reviews, too. However, it doesn't feel right for Mister Enter to just not care if he ever liked any Family Guy episodes before 2010 and wish away all that came before. Michael Amato hates most modern The Simpsons episodes in the 2010s and 2020s, but he never held any of that against the classic episodes he looked at. In It's a SpongeBob Christmas, Enter also would not let what has happened get in the way of what should happen, so it peeves me off that he could discriminate against Family Guy in that regard and say that a SpongeBob-like resurgence is not worth anything it has done. In my opinion, Mr. Enter made it sound like he does not like Family Guy's audience any more than Family Guy does not like its audience at 28:06, but for a different reason than bad jokes insulting us when it believes we will watch any bad joke branded Family Guy. If I had to answer his question, I would say that why anyone watches Family Guy - now or in the past - is because it had a lot of silly jokes that really surprise us. I know that is just how I personally felt whenever I look at it. I know Mister Enter is not the biggest fan of Seth MacFarlane's brand of humor, and I can live without him ever giving Family Guy a positive review, but Enter saying what he said 33 1/2 minutes into this video - at the point in time when this video came up - is a huge red flag when he has not made Admirable Animations for anything period in almost a whole year, and a VERY bad sign that Enter has probably gone crazy and turned into the Caustic Critic he hoped he never would become, because I will just have to assume he does not care about looking for admirable things to review anymore. For all we know, he might not like the concept of decency any more than Family Guy at 34:51. I am still waiting on his 60th Admirable Animation. June 15, 2020, 8:50pm

I have heard OTHER PEOPLE claiming that Seth McFarlane doesn't like FG and he hasn't really worked on it for the majority of the 2010's, he prefered to work on Ted, his Wild West movie, and just being a voice/feature for other projects, if anything a lot of the people that put quality into the show, either went to do other things, or they prefered to work on American Dad, which while not perfect, it's still the best of all of his shows, even when FG was good, American Dad was better.

On top of that, American Dad can at least hold down a plot for an entire episode, whereas Family Guy seems to always have their plot be split up into two parts so the “main plot” does not start until the episode is halfway over. Old Family was good, even great with some episodes, with the Multiverse episodes being the series magnum opuses. They were clever, timeless, interesting, funny, and had great ideas. I personally love the Y2K episode.
New Family Guy is Boomer humor made for kids. It's not clever, groundbreaking, memorable, or charming. Occasionally you can get a good joke, but there are too many that just fall flat, and the stories range from okay to dogshit in their premise. It feels like the writers of old of Family Guy split and the team couldn't find suitable replacements, and they still can't.
It's obvious Seth doesn't care about FG, just like Matt doesn't care about the Simpsons. It's easy money, and I can't blame them for choosing this route. Besides, Seth has 2 successful shows, and all he has to do is what he enjoys: Voice acting. He's set for life.

Ok, the misconception over Jared Shapiro is that the *ARTISTS* who designed the background characters based his design on the writer Jake Goldman. He wrote a character to be a love interest for Blossom, how he looked wasn't his idea. And a dumb thing they liked to do throughout the show was hide names or put faces of staff onto billboards, signs, storefronts, or even other background characters. So the fact that they did it with Jared's character isn't too hard to believe. The show still sucks, don't get me wrong, but as soon as I heard this debunked I hate seeing people perpetuate this notion of pedophilia when it's freakin' not.

Even still, the fact that nobody in the creative process thought to themselves that there was anything wrong with having the likeness of one of the people working on the show as a love interest for an underage character is a huge issue. @@timmyreobed5043 well yeah, I'm not forgiving them for it but also saying "Ugh SOMEONE should have known the implications this would bring!" is pointless too because it's a "well no shit" hindsight statement with no actual solution. like, yeah it was a dumb choice to make but show's already made. in order to fix the backlash from what people THOUGHT his design meant, they would have to redesign him, and re-edit every episode with him in it. either that or retcon him out entirely by removing episode listings with him in it (I mean the show's full of retcons off the original so it'd be up their alley) but either way changing his design wouldn't save the rest of the show's rep anyway. TL:DR there's TONS of other reasons the show is bad but saying it has pedophilic undertones just isn't correct anymore

Whether or not anyone intended this read, the fact that the pieces fall into place such that it has to be clarified shows something seriously wrong with the content. At the bare minimum, Jared should have ceased appearing on the show after that backlash (which they clearly cared enough about to put clarifying information out to the press) and just invented a new character t play the same role without the likeness to a real life adult.
It does not have the intentions, but the content all falls into line that those implications and undertones are present: if they weren't they wouldn't have had to clarify them for people in the first place.
