So in this video I make a tier list of all the country flags in the world. A couple people had requested it in the comments, but mostly I just thought it might be a bit of fun. These are just my own opinions, feel free to disagree. If you like to make your own tier list, go to: tiermaker.com/create/country-flags-218642
Now I know that not everyone is going to want to watch a video that's over an hour long, so if you just want to skip to the end and see the final list or leave comments about your favourite/least favourite flags, that's totally fine. Sometimes what I do for really long videos is I 'speed-watch' them... a couple tips: J/L keys on your keyboard skip forwards and back 10 seconds, the arrow keys 5 seconds, and K is for pausing. You can also click the cog icon and change the playback speed to 1.25 or even 1.5. I've also added quite a few time-stamps in the desscription to navigate the video easily. All countries are in alphabetical order.
This is my first ever unscripted video, so I hope I sound okay. Thanks for watching!

Maybe you should explain the meaning of the colours behind each flag rather than just rank them based on colour and pattern
Yeah, I know this is your channel and your entitled to your own views but even so you've hurt people's feelings. Bangladesh's flag was inspired by the fertile green land and the red dot was the blood spilt in order to gain their independence. You may think it's ugly but it means a lot to their people. Including other nations as well as each pattern and colour of each flag has their own meaning. They inspire something into the hearts of their people and remind them of something important. It seems as though you don't have much respect but base things on colour and design.
In a way you sound a little bit rascist.
According to Wikipedia, the flag of Kyrgyzstan "is a depiction of the first thing one sees when waking up in a yurt [traditional tent], namely the construction of the pinnacle of every Kyrgyz yurt with three crisscrossing laths across the circular opening at the top of the yurt." Yeah, it's stupid. His main argument is that someone made it earlier. But c'mon, every country has it's own history behind its national symbols, and when independent states with no history of interaction have similar flags (Chad and Romania, for example), well, it's mere coincidence at this point.

I actually really like Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 and Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬. I like everything about Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 except the 'staircase' arrangement of the stars (I know they spell out Allah but it still looks a little weird) and the red borders, and if Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 kept the central symbol and removed the ones on the left then it'd be S tier. Turkey 🇹🇷 is really good but a little bit boring. However Turkmenistan 🇹🇲 totally deserved its fate

Which proves that whenever you rank a flag you will always be biased no matter what.
Similar in concept if you described it to someone, but the difference is in execution. It's a lopsided rudimentary drawing rather than a symmetrical geometric representation, it's green, particularly a shade that clashes, the ratios are not great, the tree almost touches the top and bottom bands.

The flag of Bosnia is a rough representation of the country. If you didn’t know what the nation looked like on a map, you’d never know that’s what it was supposed to be.
Cyprus on the other hand is literally just the nation superimposed on the flag.
Copying another flag is lazy. Being the flag that is copied shows that you’re influential. The flag of the Ottoman Empire looks nice. Just copying it’s flag to be yours does not look nice. You see?

Actually the Tunisian flag was officially adopted in 1831 and the Turkish flag was adopted in 1844 so it wasn't copied.
Personally, I would put Japan higher up due to its strong symbolism and minimalism and Turkey because it's basically the father of crescent and star and is well proportioned (different from all the other crescent and star flags) + the red shade is beautiful. I'll think you'll find that majority of the younger generation did not want the flag change at all. We may be a independent country but the Union Jack represents our colonial past and our path to freedom via the World Wars. The current flag and the Union Jack in general is the flag our men died fighting for and still fight for our national identities, the ANZAC identity, was formed on the battlefields of WW1 and WW2. This is all before considering that the vast majority of New Zealanders have British backgrounds or that almost all the electorates in New Zealand voted to keep the flag including all the Maori seats who if anything have the most to gain out of having a new flag to represent our joint adopted homeland and culture

The origin story for the Indonesian flag may bump it all the way up to A or S for me tbh. At some point during their rebellion against the Dutch colonial government, someone got ahold of a Dutch flag and tore its blue stripe off, so Javanese defiance is literally in its design.
The fact that this exists is incredibly strange to me. I never really thought about a favorite flag or anything. It was fun to watch tho.

Since we have done The Little Mermaid for our school musical my freshman year and I am going to a college with a trident-like mascot, I associated the flag of Barbados with King Triton’s rule and the Iowa Central Tritons. But the symbolism behind the Barbadian flag is really nice - one of the best in my opinion, and I’m glad I have it in my collection!

The story with chad and Romania is that Romania originally had the flag but then they added there coat of arms during that time, chad made the blue, yellow, red tricolour their flag and when Romania removed their coat of arms their flags looked exactly the same.
The tree in the Lebanese flag is a cedar tree. We have cedar forests. I mean, we’re not the only country that has cedar trees, but we’re proud of it.

the Peruvian flag's coat of arms has a cornucopia, symbolizing the mineral wealth of the country, a quina tree (where quinine for tonic water comes from), standing for the flora. And a vicuña, for the fauna.
I can say in my experience from drawing stuff based off flags, simpler is often better. The previous flag video said a child should be able to draw the flag, which I agree with, but I'd also add that your flag should be able to be distinct under bad resolutions and so on.
You could put the video in 144p and look at the French tricolore, for instance, and it will look pretty much the same. But do that to flags with coats of arms and emblems on them, and it becomes a lot messier, especially if you're trying to separate similar-looking flags such as Moldova and Andorra.
Yep, simpler is better, but there are some nice complicated ones as well such as Bhutan
