    Knee hitting the ground meaning you're tackled is only a thing in American football. In rugby it doesn't make a difference. You're tackled once your momentum stops. It's a fast, flowing game so there's no time for analyzing whether your knee touched the ground or not.

    No combine as such but using Jarryd Hayne as a benchmark, he did an official 40 yard clocked at 4:54 when switching from NRL to NFL in 2015, he said he was heavy as well ( 230) and at his sharpest would be 4:40 Inglis over 40 would be 4:40 when thin 4:50 later in his career when weighing 250+ , Greg was 6' 5" so those long legs got him moving pretty quick and he never slowed down over 100

    Origin is the equivalent to an #AllStars NFL game, where the best players from 2 states face of in a best of 3 matchs (midseason) spread over 2 months. Because a majority of professional Rugby league players in Australia are on the east coast of Australia, 2 neighbouring states clash in the event (QUEENSLAND VS NEW SOUTH WALES). The state of origin series. And because Australia has the majority of elite players, it is the hardest games on the planet to participate in. Greg has the most tries (touch downs) in origin history. That in itself gives you an indication on why an argument can be justified in saying he's a #GOAT! Strength, speed, agility and God Given Talent..... Greg had it all. In terms of player roles and position, he's evolutionary. I've seen, played with and against a lot of great players in my day, but G.I. , he's the best I've ever seen.

    Rugby League is more similar to NFL than Rugby Union.
    In Rugby league each team has 6 ‘downs’ to attempt to score. Each ‘down’ starts where the tackle is made. After the 6th down they hand over possession. Usually teams will kick the ball down the field on the 5th ‘down’ for territory, similar to NFL when they bring on their punters.
    In Rugby Union the plays are not broken down into ‘downs’, rather play is continuous with both teams fighting for the ball at each tackle.

  • @FNlah
    @FNlah Před 4 lety +2

    Rugby is a non stop sport and unless pinned down to the ground no ruck will be formed and can still take off even if you fell

  • @Calvincenz
    @Calvincenz Před 4 lety

    In rugby a tackle is usually considered complete when the player is brought down onto his elbows, arse or torso, however it's a bit different with league compared to union, and in both types of rugby the referee calls when a tackle has been made when it might not be so obvious. even when a tackle is made, unless the tackler keeps the player down or a ruck is formed, then the player in possession can get up and continue, it's a fairly complicated area of the sport to wrap your head round as a new fan because there are so many rules, but there is a great and quick youtube video that a great English player made called: 'James Haskells introduction to the rules of rugby'. great for the understanding the basics of the game.

    Honestly, this video you watched of him kinda sucks. There's a far better one that gives a much better look at his highlights whereas this one cuts out a bunch of his best plays. Good job on the reaction though. I personally think league is the better sport, even though I played rugby union. Enjoy the discovery of yet another new sport.

      It’s when the arm holding the ball touches the ground, if he advances the arm with no momentum it is a double movement and a penalty

  • @docgonzales
    @docgonzales Před 4 lety

    Yeah, as mentioned this is rugby league, possession is not contested at the tackle ( except 1 on 1 strips are allowed) , and plays end when momentum ends rather than knee grounding. Each team gets 6 plays to score ( not go 10 yards) . It is a much more structured game as a result , a cross between Rugby and NFL. Its all about yardage after contact in this game, thats why the defence is more brutal and the attackers are more kamikaze than in Rugby Union.

  • @thedonfonz2481
    @thedonfonz2481 Před 4 lety +1

    Hey mate, this player plays 1 of the 2 main codes/genres of rugby.
    1. Rugby Union
    2. Rugby League
    Greg Inglis plays Rugby League.
    A faster pace than the Rugby Union you have embarked your journey on. Ruby League has 13 players aside, and limited ball possession each time they have the ball - Like how the NFL have 5 downs to get a new set, Rugby League - you have a limit of 5 possessions for the length of the field, so you have to get a point or turnover. Otherwise, if the offending team disrupt play by touching the ball or by infringement, the set restarts. But more often than not, the ball gets booted to the other side like in NFL to gain territory and field possession.

      @thedonfonz2481 Před 4 lety +1

      Oh - ORIGIN ! maate..
      "State against State, Mate against Mate" - the NRL season has a 3 match series tournament, that is between 2 rivals! Queensland and New South Wales ! During this, its the biggest thing in the Rugby League calendar besides the NRL final! Often, youd have team mates from the same club, play against each other in the Sate of Origin!

    @handsolo1209 Před 4 lety

    There are no rucks in Rugby League. After a tackle the tackler must let go and retreat 10m and the tackled player rolls the ball backwards to a teammate. You get 6 tackles before you have to hand the ball over. A tackle is only complete when a player is either brought to the ground and held by an opponent or he is held up and his momentum has stopped by opponents. Every team will 99% of the time kick the ball away on the last tackle as either an NFL style punt to get the ball away from their own goal line or to hopefully score if your team gets the ball from the kick if it's near to the other team's goal line. You will sometimes see a team running and passing on the last tackle to keep the ball alive. In league once the clock goes red and the time is up, any tackle ends the game. In Union the play will continue until the ball goes dead (either a knock on, forward pass or out of bounds). Union cannot end on a penalty, so the penalty will have to be taken.
