- I thought we'd make an attempt to show something a bit different in this upload. Open tuning is not something you see folks do everyday, so thought a light dive into it might just do the trick for some of you.

Hello Randy, thank you, Sir, for this video. I hope some guitar players will be inspired to play open tuning as well. After playing it on a friend's guitar I never looked back.
Mr Paul, you were one that I had in mind when I mentioned those on the channel that took constant advantage of these open tunings. You’re certainly the master of it and admittedly it’s just beautiful. Thanks for the great advice to everyone and the constant kindness 👍🏻

Another gem of a video Randy! Open D minor is also nice, but worlds apart with only one small adjustment. F# becomes F on the 3rd string. God Bless.

I have the video paused, ill come back at the end but i didn't want to forget. When you said open tuning can save strain on the fret hand , a light bulb 💡 turned on in my head. Work definitely is taking its toll on my hands and seemed like I just wouldn't be able to do it eventually. Now im thinking, just maybe not in standard all the time.
I like the advice on just noodling on your own in the open tuning. I've only tried open g so far. I realize that I learned just parts of songs in that tuning to learn where the chords are before wandering off on my own but you showed a few chords in this that just shorten that journey up. Maybe next time I can save myself some trouble And just look up where the cords are in the open tuning. I might come up with something more creative than just pulling from the past. Great advice Randy! Hope all is well brother!

Brother man Trevor, great to hear from you, my friend. It is most assuredly a beautiful open tuning. While I’ve never played around with the other two alternates of D, you’ve motivated me to doing so. I’ve heard others do it, including your good self I think, but I’ve yet to work with those. Great to see your smiling face and hope the gigging is keeping you occupied. Any TV spots coming up?

Sounding really beautiful Randy.
I played my arrangement of Scarborough Fair on the Excellente tonight in drop D and capped on the fifth fret with a beautiful singer. The noisy pub fell silent, it was wonderful. The combination of her voice and the sweet tone (which almost sounded like a 12 string at times) of the Excellente was mesmerising. Playing with her tomorrow with the guitar stereo miked and panned left and right. Really looking forward to it.
"Randy" is living up to her name, my friend.
Everyone who see's, hears and plays my Excellente absolutely love her.

Great video sir. I've used C standard tuning a lot, but not much in open tuning. I've even dabbled a bit in drop D too.
When I put my 65 Texan away, I usually tune down to C standard, to keep all that tension out of the neck that would be there in standard E tuning. Open D sounds great. I may have to play around with it more.
Hi David, not a shabby idea at all, tuning down for storage. All of these open tunings allow for some great arrangements that may prove more difficult in standard tuning. Always appreciate you, brother man 👍🏻

I also love the bassey sound you get when you tune down to C standard. It's basically what The baritone guitars are tuned at. That's another guitar I would like to try out, a quality baritone guitar.
