thanks Jeff, I'm always very honored when you talk about Magna Roma and that you liked it!
Hegemony is something special for sure.
You are gifted in your way to describe your opinion and perspective so well,
And there's nothing obvious about it..
Loving Jeff week so far! There are some fantastic picks on here- we really enjoy Weather Machine too. Also, I didn’t know you were from Ashland- that’s where my husband and I live too! Small world!
What?!?!? I need more gamers!!! :)
@@TabletopToolbox We're always looking for new gamer friends! :) We should totally get something together!
Great picks!
Thank you Jeff. Enjoying this series (especially the 90s-style animation). Thus, I am curious about the contents of the red Board Gaming Toolbox behind you ;)
It's just filled with hopes and dreams!! :)
Jamey Stegmaier recently did a video with Stonemaier ambassadors where he chatted with several after having all of the ambassadors who had played all SM games. Tapestry ended up #1 on many of the lists and was a top 3 game. It’s really interesting to watch.
Loving the series Jeff
Thanks!!
Love Boop and BOOoop! And of course, anything Star Trek. Thanks, Jeff!
We playing the CCG together after Panic?!?! Please please please??? 😂😂😂
@@TabletopToolbox Absolutely! If you teach me. Trekkies need to stick together. Star Trek Road Trip! 😅
great picks 😊
Love Boop
JEFF WEEK!
Woot woot!!
Wow. 😮 If Weather Machine is Lacerda's least thematic game then I really need to check out some of his others, because as a former research scientist is it the most thematic science based game I've ever played. I've seen many other scientists voice the same opinion. Plus it's a great metaphor for our current environmental situation. Although, given my dislike for cars and wine perhaps I should avoid Khanban EV and Vinhos 😂
But at any point do you FEEL like a machine is causing havoc with weather across the globe and that you and your fellow gamers are actually gathering the data and components to build a new one? I mean, scientific - sure - as scientific as it can get with a machine that controls the weather, I guess... But all you do is collect resources from one part of the board to them place them in another, and all the weather machine does is add tokens - and thus extra costs - to later actions... I guess I'm glad that "scientists" enjoy the game (I'd love to hear from more of them) but all the "gamers" I've talked to have said it feels pretty abstracted from its theme...
@@TabletopToolbox I do get that and I am starting to wonder that it basically emphasises how little the average person understands about what being a scientific researcher actually entails. I've always taught this game thematically because that is what made learning all the myriad rules in this one rather straightforward. It just all makes sense. The "weather machine" is actually a stand-in or metaphor from all the human effects we have inflicted upon out environment. We are in a race to learn as much as we can about how our climate actually works and research the best way to alleviate these deleterious effects. At the end of the game hopefully we have learned enough that we can transition our research to the institutions who will implement and solve the problems created by the "weather machine."
And as I mentioned I'm a former scientist, but currently count myself as a gamer. ; ) And there are quite a few scientists who have popped up in the comments on BGG who have the same feelings about the implementation of scientific research in WM
They say that 1 out of 12 homes has a copy of Monopoly. One of them could have been mine. Really makes you think.
You don’t need to apologize to owners of Foundations of Rome. It’s not your fault they blew a paycheck on an inferior game. 😊
Chocolate Factory is a fantastic game. Great pick.
Shots fired!! 😂 Cheers!
Disney is dead to me.
I won't argue that!! To each their own. To be fair - I couldn't care less about the company or even most of their library. To me it's seeing my daughters reaction when she pulls out a favorite character, event, etc.
Actually he has been dead to everyone since 1966. He’s chilling out right now.
