I love boardgames, but the chemistry and fun that these three create make me watch these videos. I dont really have time to watch youtube and especially youtube videos about boardgames, but look at Zee's smile 37:56... These are good people to watch because they are good people. The only content I support, keep up the good work guys
One of last year's Top 100 videos autoplayed after this ended, and it was the one with the People choosing Marvel Champions. Tom said the exact same thing last year about going into the store to demand your favorite character, right down to using Vision as the example character. Consistency is key.

I own both Scythe and Expeditions. I’ve only played Expeditions and have only played it solo. But I immediately said to my wife and others that I would play it MAX at 3. I’m ok with that, as I mostly play 1-3.
Also, great to have Mike and his sassiness back at Dice Tower headquarters. 😂

I’m not shocked that Zee has Arnak higher on his list than Dune. I think they are both very good games (I personally like Arnak more), but we know Zee likes cards with powers, and I think at its heart Arnak is more of a card combo game and Dune is more of a tight worker placement game. If I was asked which game has more interesting card play I would definitely say Arnak.
Mike, you are 100% welcome to have opinions on Dune Imperium. I bet it hits different for you though, because you play SO MANY games, that you probably weren’t playing Dune Imperium 3-4x/month. I have friends who do, so for them, 2 years for a new game in that series is a great timeline. If you’re playing it 4x/year, yeah, 2 years is going to seem fast.
just played Tapestry recently, and was reminded how fun this game is . Some of the aspects such as the central map seems boring on their own, but as a whole, this game really works well when all the gears are moving.

Had not played 7 Wonders for years, then we played with a large group at my brother's house, and all that greatness came flooding back! Modern classic!!
Saint Petersburg is one of the best games ever made... and I LOVE the old artwork... Time for Vasel's Law to come into effect.
Shadows Over Camelot and Small World are both good Days of Wonder games that seem to not get mentioned much anymore.
Hasn't Shadows Over Camelot been out of print for a good while, or was I just not looking hard enough?

Had the pleasure of playing a custom Cthulhu DMD scenario designed by Richard Launius that he ran for us at the recent CMON convention in Minneapolis. Really nice guy and a fun game of CDMD.

Scythe used to be my wife's #1 of all time. Expeditions is now there after 1 year. It's so good!

Lots of my personal faves in this list! Marvel Champions, my personal #1 of all time, just a game that was a dream come true for a kid that grew up wanting to play CCGs and never had a playing partner. Love the fact that I can just grab a hero and a villain, and get the combo-tastic card play whenever I want. Also, Raiders of the North Sea is my favorite pure worker placement game of all time (especially with expansions), and Star Wars Rebellion is the best game of my favorite franchise. Sleeping Gods, also up there in my personal top 10. Love these games!

Great set of videos guys!! Thanks!! Got to say that I still enjoy basic Carcassonne. It works well as an introductory tile game for nongamers. For me it's just a comfort game.
All the comments about Earth (a game I have yet to play) remind me of playing Revive. Every single turn I'm doing something fun, and it just feels better and better as the game goes along. There is almost always a way to do what you want to do, if you can just puzzle it out.
How does the AI for Heat compare to Flamme Rouge? That game was the one that came closest for me to enjoy a game solo. It's amazing! Still, I miss the meta game and table talk of playing FR with people.
On the Garphill topic: How does Circadians:First Light always get overlooke? Every one I have ever introduced that one to has truly enjoyed it.
The LOOP is another great game that Mike has been championing for a while. My personal favorite of what I consider to be the “Pandemic-like” genre of cooperative games, and one my wife’s very favorite games ever, if not her #1.

23:56 I literally downloaded Dominion to my android and started playing already when this happened. After years of iPhone - only apps it's nice to see android get priority once.

I loved Zee's comment about Lost Ruins. It always seemed a strange criticism to me that you couldn't ignore the research track, Every game has something you can't ignore. And this made sense thematically as you would surely take some notes and research what you'd found if you went exploring these things in real life.

Zee, you need to play Wayfarers! A lot of people hate it but it’s my favourite Garphill Game so far (though I haven’t played Viscounts or Scholars yet)!

La Isla is now Vienna... and the "basic game" is basically the same as the older game, but they now have an advanced version that I'm excited to try.
Finally some praise for Riftforce! This game is so addictive...

I'm with Mike on Carcassonne, it's "okay" but never been more than that for me. Never really got why people love it so much.
Throw me in with the people who don't like expeditions. It's so polarizing, though. My friends love it or hate it. I'm glad to see it landed with Zee.
I so appreciate someone recognizing and appropriately saying that Calimala is a quality, dare I say amazing, euro game! It is a top 10 for me and I don't hear enough people talking about it.

I agree with Tom about Azul. My friends and I adore Azul, but never played the others. Might have to really get Stained Glass to see if his claims are really true.

Onirim -- unplayable in person or on the app if you're red/green colorblind.
I got rid of my copy of tapestry because I was the only one in my playgroup that enjoyed it. Everyone else was hung up on balance and production issues
Thunderbirds is so good, even better with Tracy Island and Above and Below.
Finally someone at dice tower giving arnak the recognition it really deserves. Zee hit nail on the head about the leaders expansion being fire. Such a great game
Azul is higher up because it is on BGA and the other one isn’t.
My issue with Arnak is that, even with Leaders expansion, things have to break your way or you need to be a much stronger player than your opponets, to win without focusing on the temple track. There aren’t really multiple paths to victory and the explore path is a noob trap. The temple track gives bonuses that cause the leader to snowball to victory. Still a solid game but not as good as Dune in my opinion.
My 5 year old daughter loves Onirim on our iPad. So I bought the actual card game and we only played it a few times. The amount of shuffling is just silly.

I have said before, but I will say it again. Quacks is for me what Wingspan is for others. Just baffled at it's popularity. I'm glad it brings so many people joy. I just vastly prefer a lot of other push your luck games. I'm obviously wrong though cause like Wingspan Quacks is a modern classic. Just based on how much people love it.
I've played all the Azul games and still think the first one is the best for sure
I still don’t know why they think architects is pricy they say that every year and it is always way cheaper than 7 wonders classic. I think 7 wonders classic is overpriced ( right now on amazon 48 arch vs 60 classic )

I have all the Azuls and the only one I disliked and didn't keep what Stained Glass of Sinatra. The gameplay fell completely flat for me. My ranking would be Original, Summer Pavilion and then the Queen's Garden.

You know Tom, why you have hard time to remember what happened in Pandemic Legacy season 1 until september? Because NOTHING have happened in up until september! It was just 9 Games of normal pandemic, without action cards (as we havent lost a single game we were ask by a game to get rid of those...)
I know its probably expectation issue, and the fact, that all four of us knew Pandemic that well but... it was such a dissapoiniting experience... 9 plain games of pandemic...
We didnt see much of a legacy (outside tearing cards appart) as we had one city exploding through the whole 9 games... just... one of my top disappointmence in a board gaming :/

I Agree with Mike, Uprising should've been an expansion, and not a FULL version that's just slightly better than the one I bought 2 years ago. It's a scummy practice, and sadly the board gaming hobby is filled with these moments. Allow us to buy the parts that change separate
You can't make in an expansion, everything is changing... It's improved, retrocompatible and pretty cheap, there's nothing else more they could have done to significantly improve the game in a more honest way... Keep Dune Imperium and play it
I don’t think it’s too scummy, because everything in Uprising is new and can be combined with previous material. I do think a lot of us had a collective sigh when it was announced, though. Luckily, they ended up bringing a quality product to the table.
@@stefanopaolini1345Pretty cheap seems like a pretty big stretch, are we really considering 60 dollars for a slightly updated version of an existing game cheap? I can agree that it’s a better product, and that if someone hasn’t owned Imperium it should be the one they get, but it does absolutely feel scummy to me overall. For all the people who have bought the original and really like it it’s a tough pill to swallow that you have an “inferior” version if you don’t want to shell out 60 more dollars.
It’s just weirdly stuck in the middle. It’s a little too much to be an expansion. It’s not different enough to be a traditional second edition. But it’s basically being sold as a second edition, and for that cost.
@@stephenball2108I would argue it is more different from the original game than a 2nd edition would be. 2nd editions are usually just minor upgrades. Dune Imperium Uprising has a ton of new/altered board spaces, different combat cards, different intrigue cards, different deck, different character mats, spies, worms… it’s quite different. More different from the original than Ticket to Ride Europe is to original Ticket to Ride.
I’m sure not everyone thinks it’s better than the original game, especially if you add expansions to both. I have the new one (and no other dune imperium stuff), and I would have no problem playing the original game, especially with expansions.

Hamburg's box is larger and the main board is enlarged compared to Bruges... probably entirely so Queen could use their generic square board size. It's annoying and doesn't aid the gameplay at all.
Every year you guys say there isn't a Dominion app and I have been playing for years now on Android laughing at you guys 😂
Everdell Farshore EASILY replaced Everdell for me.
Hamburg mechanically works better than Bruges and the board has grown on me.

Tapestry didn’t need 10’s of 1000’s of plays to reveal it is grossly imbalances. The imbalance became apparent almost immediately.
Balance just isn’t Jamey’s priority. He cares about messaging, aesthetics, and mechanics that feel satisfying. Tapestry got flak because the imbalance was obvious and it actively hindered the fun of the game.

I feel the same way about 7 Wonders Architects that I do about Trails. These games pale in comparison to the originals (7 Wonders and Parks). I don't actually think either one of them (the successors) are very good at all. There really aren't any meaningful decisions in 7 Wonders Architects.
I agree on Architects. 7 Wonders is such an amazing game and has massively withstood the test of time. People constantly joke about the “Splendor Killer” thing, but how many times over the years have we heard “this is the new 7 Wonders, this replaces 7 Wonders” and those games always end up fading.
Architects is just not it for me, I was interested to play it because both 7 Wonders and Duel are among the best games ever for me, but it was just so blah. Also a tough thing to play multiplayer 7 Wonders without it having simultaneous turns.
I have never played 7 Wonders, but I actually just played Architects for the first time last night. We did have a new-ish person to board games (she’s been to game night 3 times now and is getting the grasp of things quickly) and had 7 players, so it was a good game to play all together before we split up to 2 groups, but I don’t see myself ever having an itch to play it again. I didn’t know how different it was to the original, but if it is very different, then maybe I’ll give the original a chance if I see it available at any conventions since I don’t think any of my friends have a copy.
@@gabthang8 Architects is a lot different than the original 7 Wonders. The regular game of 7 Wonders has card drafting and much more decision-making space than Architects. We have the Cities expansion for 7 Wonders too, which adds spies and sort of a corruption element to the game, which is really cool too. I haven't tried any of the other expansions though.
As someone who was involved a bit in getting a whole host of Stefan Feld games reprinted, I am really, really tired of the "city name" jokes by the Dice Tower, which are more tiresome because they refused to review the games. We get it, you don't like the choice, but in the end a whole bunch of Feld games that were not going to be reprinted by their original publishes are now back in print, which is probably a good thing?
You could have come up with better names if they really did need to be reprinted and the original names couldn't be used for some reason.

I dont understand the attraction for 7 Wonders Architects... I found there is barely a game in there, you either get the obviously better card or you draw blind... So boring.
