  • We decide to run a water resistance test on this 4 materials used on cabinet manufacturing.
(Plywood / MDF Ultra / MDF / Particleboard)
We left all samples into a 5mm water plate, simulating a leak under the sink for example.
After 2 hours we can see the results and how each material behaved.
The materials used, had no finish on the edges. We can assume that when a finish is applied to the edges, all materials, will last longer.
    Disclaimer:
Please remember that no matter how good is the material, if you have a leaking for too long, none of these materials will resist the water damage. Not even solid wood.

Thanks for doing this so i can see the result without actually doing this. Truly

very educational, it just whicks it up like a sponge! maybe whick is a good name for a disposable cloth. :)

The green MDF is specifically designed as water-resistant - and marketed as such (well, here in the UK it is).
So I'd be surprised if it _weren't_ water-resistant!

it is indeed. But if exposed to TOO much water, for too much time, it will damage for sure.

When the cabinet door has expanded due to kettle steam is there a way to flatten it back? Material is mdf like the middle materials in your video. Thanks

Not really my friend. After it expands, there is no way back.

Thankfully with humans there is a way back when they expand.

OSB is one of the best. You should include it.

Can the water damage continue even after the water source is removed?

It will not continue expanding, but for sure the piece will loose it´s mechanical / strenght property.
