Hey Everyone,
My name is JRO Lights and I have been collecting Zippos for over 10 years. My collecting themes include: limited editions, Collectibles of the years, and any unique/ special designs.
I am not a film expert or editor, however I have a passion for Zippos and I hope to bring a variety and diverse range of Zippo information.
My mission is to bring knowledge to both new collectors and more seasoned collectors, and also bring more knowledge to myself.
Feel free to email me at jrolights@gmail.com for questions, suggestions or anything else.

THIS! This is what Zippo enthusiasts have been begging Zippo to start branching out into to get those that don't smoke and don't even have a need for flame into Zippos!
As a non smoker too, I’m always open to new insert ideas, any ideas you would like to see them come out with?
@JRO_Lights They need to reintroduce the ZipLight, but with a USB C rechargeable lithium battery and a high CRI (color rendering index) LED emitter. Do that and they're guaranteed to sell like hotcakes.
A zippo flashlight for the modern era!
What type of Zippo insert would you like to see Zippo make next?
Also, I forgot to read the fine print on the box, the entire insert is made in China.
Have you done a video on the arc insert yet? That may be a good one.(?)
I would definitely like a revisit to the Zippo flashlight (or zip lights), only this time with a way to make it possible in today's world
@ArthronOfFir3 with the better batteries and bright LEDs, we now have, a new ziplite would be amazing. They can make it rechargeable just like the arc inserts
Keep your BIT SAFE LIKE A PROFOLATIC KEEPS YOU SAFE WHILE YOU ARE GETTING SCREWED !!! HI FROM NH. !!!
Good Morning Jon. What a really informative Video once again. When this insert was first posted as a new addition to the regular items, I did wonder if it would be of interest to UK collectors? My PM answered that with several of my friends asking if I could get it for them. Result of that was I have about 12 coming over the pond. The fact you showed that the bits are able to be swapped out has certainly helped answer another question. The Armor case looks best to use from what you said. It would be awesome if Zippo did come out with a Ziplite insert as once again I have a couple of friends looking for that insert for their collections. Keep the videos coming Jon. You learn something new every time!! Take care.
LED Ziplights would be awesome!
Yeah I didn’t mention the types of bit just because you can trade them out for whatever you need!
The only reason I can think of for why Zippo says it won't fit the Armor cases.. (Bear with me, this has a bit of a long preamble...)
The lid on Armor cases are technically shorter than regular cases. Not from the tip top of the lid, but along the shoulders. The Armor cases have a more rounded lid. In other words, same height internally at the very center point on the inside, but as it slopes away from the shoulders it's actually a little shorter.
Ok, so what, you might ask. This is why Zippo says that single and double torch butanes won't fit. The tall, square edged chimney on a butane will actually *just* catch on the inside of an armor lid. The lid will not fully close and will leave a very slight gap. Now with production variance you may come across a combination of butane and armor that closes perfectly, but I tried several combinations of armor and butane inserts and sure enough, on average there was a tiny gap.
Now you *could* take a file and just ever so slightly round off the top of the butane chimney and get it to fit just fine, but the main point is, as it comes from the factory they can't guarantee that it will always clear every armor Zippo.
So what does this have to do with the Zippo Bits? Truthfully mine are still on the way, probably arriving tomorrow and probably after I have to leave for the whole day. What I suspect is, depending on which bit you put into the driver part of the insert, and possibly what orientation (Try inserting one of your bits into the insert "backwards" at the chimney part, so that the thick hex bit driver is sticking up.) it's possible that the bit orientation may possibly be *just* tall and wide enough to prevent every armor Zippo from fully sealing.
It might be no big deal to the average person, but you just know that there is going to be someone out there who is just the right combination of character traits that will want to benefit form blowing this all out of proportion, or try to demean them for putting out a "faulty" product when all they're trying to do is innovate a little. Even if the answer is easy (put in a Phillips bit driver side up) you may still find complainers, that the bits should *always* allow the lid to close regardless of orientation. There are people who complain about the tiniest gap or tiniest wobble of the lid on Reddit, so for the sake of covering as many bases as possible, Zippo probably just decided best to make this declaration, that way if they get any complaints they can just cite their official position on the matter.
Anyway I rambled on long enough on the subject. Probably more than any human being should be writing about something so ridiculously trivial.
Awesome break down, people will always complain.
It’s crazy how some people “love” zippo but all they have to say about Zippo is negative. (One reason I started this channel)
There’s been some things I don’t like as a consumer, but it is what it is, I’m not in those business meetings. I really do think Zippo has been listening to us when it comes to product offerings.
@@JRO_Lights Well I tested my idea with the bit reversed in a couple of armor lighters... No fitment or lid gap issues with my examples. But it's definitely really close, closer than with regular sized Zippos. So who knows.
@@jinkim5785 yeah I looked at it closer after your breakdown and it is close, it could also depend on which bit you have in there… the flathead seems to be alittle bigger, so I could see that might get caught up if the insert isn’t snug in the case.
Great video! I would also love to see an LED ZipLight insert!
I'd also like to see zippo remake the ziplite with the bright LEDs we have nowadays. I need an original one for my inserts section of my display
Never heard of it. Thank you for sharing. I'll definitely buy at least one to try.
Absolutely, it’s such a cool product!
Riley66 has it for 14.95 on his website, definitely worth it.
It’s great that zippo is trying new ideas. For now I’ll be keeping mine to make flame
Why not carry two? Lol
@@JRO_Lights good idea but instead maybe I’ll get one to keep in the car.
Believe I'll get a few. Thank you for the demo.
Didn’t mention the price point but they aren’t bad for $15
Love your style of review 🔥 thanks for trying out the armor case
As a guitarist that has a need for Allen and a screwdriver this could be a handy item to the guitar Case
Oh yeah that’s a good use for it!
I think once people see how cool this idea is and get over some of the minor cons, I think it could really catch on
thx for armor info
Got 2 ordered. 1 for the display and 1 for work
Being in the UK are there any bits you’ll use other than what Zippo has?
Simon will be able to give you the best info Jon as he uses these style of bits a lot with his job!!
@JRO_Lights I'll probably only swap out the no.1 Phillips for a no.2 pozidrive. The t20 is the most common size of torx we use. I have a brushed chrome wurth advertiser zippo which I'll use for the bit safe, we use wurth for all our fixings and chemicals(foaming glue, lubricants and such)
@@alastairlonghurst I'd hate to think how much I've spent on bit sets throughout the years.
Great video!!! Mine is suppose to be delivered tomorrow 😊. Really like how you demonstrated it with the armor and 35 replica cases.
Would love to see you do a video on some of the points I may have missed!
I’m going to order one from Biskethead Knives, great fella and he sells Zippos too at a great price, seems like nobody puts up the price on anything, anyhow it’s US$13.95 for this product. (B.K also have the acrylic Zippo Display Stands 10 for $20)
Excellent video Jon, like always.
Thanks!
Yeah I forgot to put in the portion where I unboxed it and talked about price point.
You can grab it various places from 13.95-15.95 (on Zippo.com).
Im sure all are reputable sellers, but I gotta stay loyal to my guy Riley66 😂
Love the idea and will definitely be adding one to the collection. But I carry a leatherman and don’t see the need to carry an extra zippo.
So I have heard many folks keeping this Zippo/insert in guitar cases, cycling load out, workbelt. I really like the fact you can put this one just about anywhere and it will be available when you need it.
It’s sad it’s not entirely metal but it’s ok. One question: the tools are connected magnetically or just by friction?
Magnetic
So is it fine to use it while its in the case?
You can try, that lid may get in the way though.
I’ll pass….Zippo has been a staple in Pa for all these years and now they are outsourcing to China…. No thanks…rather unAmerican if you ask me…
