I lived in Versailles and worked in Paris for 9 years the best combi ever, then move to Bretagne and wow life is so much better la vie est belle!
I don't know where you encountered businesses closing between 12&14:00, but most of them are open during lunchtime in Paris. They are closed only sometimes in much smaller towns outside of Paris
I’ve spent time in Paris. Right away, in the airport, a gentleman in a suit put his entire leg in front of me to prevent me from walking by. He was talking to other men in suits - clearly they all worked at the airport in some capacity. He never looked at me.. he just kept talking to the other men in suits, arms folded while he put his leg in front of my suitcases as I tried to walk past. Instead of stopping his conversation for 10 seconds and turning to me and telling me that this direction is no longer accessible or I must go around to exit the airport - he felt it was best to keep talking while not even looking at me and just put his leg in front of me each time I tried to go around him. He literally would put his leg even further and further out in front of me as I tried to go around him…never looked at me once. A taxi driver had to tap me on the shoulder and tell me that “sorry ma’am, that way is now closed”…Otherwise I would’ve never known. It’s this type of thing that has me mind blown about basic decency. On top of that you will get completely blown off and deliberately told the wrong directions by some less than friendly Parisians. I almost missed my flight back to LA, even though I arrived to the airport two hours early. Airport workers were sending me back and forth across this busy street, 4 times with 70 pounds of luggage to and from the wrong place! I broke down in tears at Charles de Gaulle…. no joke.
My google translate was totally not working in France. Verizon did not have my back out there…Dietary restrictions? Too bad! Oh sorry… since we don’t understand you and you don’t speak French…here’s a huge 5 inch tower of raw salmon for your dining pleasure! I pulled a lighter out of my purse and put it next to my plate and they waiter told me “we’re closed”.. in English. May I mention that there is dog poo all over the streets…The Louvre was amazing ❤️the architecture was amazing ❤️.. ambiance was very good 👍 I had a high rise on the 16th floor in front of the Iron Lady ✅❤️it was spectacular. Monoprix(the French Target) was cool.. excellent French pj’s and cosmetics. The manager was super rude to me.. didn’t want to show me where to find almond milk.. he basically told me to F off!
Next stop Almafi coast and London. Excited about London as I believe and English speaking country may be a “softer landing” for me. I heard Amalfi coast even though Italian speaking is much more laid-back than parts of France. I will try Paris again as the shopping is 10 out of 10 💫 and in all honesty, if I would have know a bit of French, my experience would have been better.
Well damn, they are called snobs for a reason.
Hi I'm Somali and Taiwanese I was born in France and it's sad that locals are unkind to tourists and visitors I'm very sorry you had a bad experience. France looked nice on Ratatouille but it can be racist and especially very classist unfortunately.😔
@@belltowndaisy I don't like to create boundaries for myself. I am free to explore the world and I will of course always have my own opinions about a particular place - some good some maybe not so good...however, what an injustice to oneself, to limit your travels and or experiences based on cultural differences.
@@belltowndaisy an essay? .. this is a public forum and I was merely expressing my thoughts and experiences. Best wishes to you...
I am assuming you are vegan/vegetarian from your post. If so, any tips on navigating Paris as a vegan?
Great video, answered a lot of questions I had in my mind. Thanks for posting.

Really enjoyed the video Victoria. It was great to learn more about you and your experiences of living in France. You're an amazing lady Victoria ❤️❤️
Thank you so much! Grateful that I could share 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for this ❤ I have been educating myself on Paris ALOT . I want to spend atleast 1 month there
You are welcome 🙏🏽
The French Administration will bring out a you that there has never been seen 😂
Speaking from experience ! This is the most challenging thing though!
You should move to the United States, we would love to have you here.
I visited only three times Paris and stayed in each time about 1 week, I loved visiting Paris but that’s just it, I wouldn’t come to live there mainly due to the crowdedness and small living spaces in tiny apartments, plus I simply don’t enjoy taking metros anymore around a lot of people.
@@belltowndaisyI thought about going to Mexico or Japan . I live in Georgia right now and I hate it here! I'd like to become an expat but I don't own a business so I'm not sure how to make money in another country. Right now I'm getting my bachelors degree but I dont want to be a teacher which is what I mainly here foreigners do when they leave from America or their retired military. What do you do? If you don't mind me asking.
because you can easily rent an affordable and big apartment in NY city ??? or in London ? I have worked for a UK / US company for more than 20 years, it was impossible for me, even with a good salary, to rent anything in the center (or just in) of these two cities ... you have nothing decent under 3 to 4 k $ or £ / month ... Paris is like any other big city, expensive ... talking about the noise and smell and dirt, NY is just a nightmare, no matter if you have a room at the 50th floors, you still ear constantly firefighter and police siren 24/7 ... roadworks are permanent since my first visit back in ... 1983 !
Thank you this was very helpful
She so sweet and kind
Thank you girl! I appreciate you watching !
Asante sana kwa kushare nasi experiance yako toka Tanzania mpaka Paris. ❤❤❤❤❤🇸🇪🇸🇪🇹🇿🇹🇿🙏
I’m looking to move to Paris within the next 6 months but I’m stuck in how to get started.
Can you name some nice places to live in the outskirts of Paris, and what's the average rent in those places?
Yes. That’s what I’ve been watching for. To learn about jobs, the areas to live and work in etc. sadly I’m not finding too many that actually share that info.
Hello! Safe areas in the suburbs could be Neuilly sur Seine, Versailles, Saint Cloud, Saint Germain-en-Laye and depending on square feet, with a decent garden or terrace could start anywhere from 900€ per month . So many factors can determine the price, like space, bills, etc
@@erykahhoney588that will require its own video 😊 especially for work related info
I want to come this year
I speak french well...
Honestly I’ve never had a strong urge visit or live in Paris but I’ve always wanted to live in the French countryside or French seaside smaller cities/towns. Any suggestions based upon hospitality and affordability?
I think the soutwestern France meet your requirements.
I'm getting ready to move in about 2 months and believe it or not, my biggest anxiety is making new friends as an adult if you are not a student. Anyone with ideas on this 🙈 How do you approach meeting people excluding on dating apps
Best advice for adults (no longer in the student stage) is to befriend your local neighbours. From your bakery lady to signing up for local activities within the community , will really get the ball rolling. You will also learn the language faster and meet new people 😉

Hello.
Can someone change visit visa to study visa/language.
Yes , but you should return to your own country and apply for the apropriate visa at the consulate.😀
I don't understand your surprise for having to learn and speak the local language in a non English speaking country in order to being able to live and work there ^^
Even in Sweden, where English is much more spoken by locals in France, they require you to speak Swedish at work.
How would you react if a French would expect french being spoken in the UK or USA?? 🤷
As a black person you have most likely felt like home in Paris
I hear Paris dirty AF
What part of the bush in Africa are you from ?
What racist did you crawl out of ?
@@ibrahimabarry4937 😆 🤣 😂 I'm no racist
Leonwoods, you come across uncultured.
Omg,even here discrimination is definitely apparent
