In today’s guitar lesson we learn how to play “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits including both the rhythm and lead fills throughout. I cover this song in a beginner friendly acoustic arrangement which will allow you to play the song quickly at any level. By using a capo, both the rhythm and lead parts are easier to play.

RIP to this track.....you killed this! Sounds so good. Always a quality lesson. Thank you.
Haha nice one, thanks!
Once again, you knocked it out of the park
Dr. MT strikes again. Super easy to follow
This!
Great lesson, I have messed with this Am pattern before but you have really clarified a lot of the fills!
Great playing and lesson ! Thanks !
You're guitar George, 'cause u know all the fancy chords, amigo. Love it, from BKK. Thailand
Wow, that was beautiful. Good voice too. Thank you.
Great ! Perfect right hand… Thank you !
Wow just brilliant 👏
super cool! thanks a lot for sharing
Excellent !
Wow - nicely done, I liked it.
Great lesson. Thank you.
Thank you, 🙏 This one is a must learn!.
It just became my new goal. I’m not a music reader but I’m going to try to notate this as I go in the hope that it helps me remember all the tasty fills , double stops and arpeggios and put them where they’re supposed to go. Great job and thanks again.
One day I hope to learn how to spell rasciatto.
AMAAAAAAZING!!!
Wow, thank you! I never thought of capoing up to learn this in A minor or simply transposing to A minor. Thanks, very helpful! Thanks again! 👍
Thanks!
wow. you are so great!
Great! Just Subscribed!
Nice ❤
Wow!!! Thanks
Nice.... Great job ...
Best cover i ever heard. Respect man
Wow thanks!
Great video!! Thank you for this! Also, wicked psyched about your followers, man!
Thanks Frank!
Brilliant, you've got a new fan! I only play acoustic, so it's great to have an excellent sounding version with the licks and fills, too. Well taught and explained. Excellent job! I'm usually not a fan of changing the key, really liking to do songs as they were originally done, but this key works great and sounds very mellow, and there's the option of doing it in the original key, too. I love these long form, detailed tutorials. More Dire Straits and Pink Floyd, please! Pleae don't forget the solos for "Sultans" on acoustic - looking forward to those! Much appreciation, keep up the great work! 🙏👊😁
Wow, what a voice!!! 👋👋Thank you for this great tutorial and the beautiful performance!!
Thanks :)
I've got blisters on my fingers ! Nicely done bud 👍
MTG, Sincere thanks to you for taking the time to put this lesson out. My first MTG lesson attempt was your "Friend of the Devil" acoustic lesson and it was huge for me! This is my next to tackle. (still going back to brush up all those tasty Jerry Garcia fills on the aforementioned also) Thanks for the value you provide to the community!
That's great to hear, glad I can be of help, best of luck on Friend of the Devil as well!
Love this! Really great to have a solo guitar arrangement option for this absolute classic.
hours and hours for great 2 minutes 🥲 (my fingers dead)
If this becomes the only song that I ever learn to play publicly, then it will be. Committed !
Awesome! Looking forward to digging into that! I don't play 'songs' but it looks like you're gonna make me! 😉🎸
Thanks!
JAMES SCOTT NICHOLSON,ONTARIO, CANADA 🇨🇦 41 YEAR GUITARIST, YOUR VOICE IS SPOT ON BRO,
I KNOW THIS SONG, BUT YOUR VOICE KEPT MY INTEREST. AWESOME 😎, I WILL SUB. JUST TO HELP OUT. ♥️♥️✌️🇨🇦🙏🌎☮️🙏♌️2🖐🦁🎸✍️🎼📝
Wow, I REALLY like this arrangement! I love playing the original like Knopfler does it, but you're right that the fills appear SUPER easy in this arrangement. Well done sir!
I appreciate it!
Your playing is great, mister!
I learned war on drugs - Pain from you and it was the first time I actually even combined rhythm with fills. Took me some time.
I can only even try to tackle this one (sultans of swing) because I learned from you earlier. Thank you!
That's great to hear, glad combining rhythm and fills is working out on "Pain". Thanks!
U R Great 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thanks
Sickkkkkkk
This is awesome. So glad I found you. Just the right amount of detail and pace for me to learn. Thank you so much.
Do you have a breakdown of the solo's?
I appreciate it! No breakdown of solos yet, forthcoming hopefully soon
You mentioned another video with the lead....is that available yet? If not I am looking forward to it after this great lesson, together a show stopper for sure!
Solos are upcoming. Thanks!
WOW 😮 is all I can say
Great sir!
"Some thing in the way she moves" James Taylor song tuto, please 🙏
"You ve got a Friend"was exceptional
Thanks
Thanks, and "Something in the Way She Moves" has since been posted, hope you enjoy!
Great cover totally nailed it, great ,the riffs an licks in cover were awesome additions to the rhythm, time to expand my skills and learn all these licks, can play the rhythm and some licks of this song but never tried them all so be fun to learn this from start to finish, will just learn bit at a time till master each section 😁👌🙏🎸👍
yeeeeaaaahhh
My dad loves this song , my new goal will be learning it and playing it for him as good as this guy does or at least somewhat close 😂 I'll update y'all when I do it
Did Mark use a capo ? Sounds great.
No he didn't, this is my arrangement. Thanks!
@@MTGuitar I really like it and the lesson thanks !
I really appreciate this lesson but the techniques involved ignore the reluctance of my sausage fingers to obey !
😂😂
