    It reached #5 on the Canadian RPM Country Singles chart...
    Between 1958 and 1989 Mel Tillis had seventy-five records on the Hot Country Singles chart, thirty-five made the Top 10 with six reaching #1...
    Thirteen of his seventy-five charted records with duets, seven with Sherry Brych, two with Nancy Sinatra, and one each with Bill Phillips, Bob Wills, Webb Pierce, and Glen Campbell...
    Lonnie Melvin 'Mel' Tillis passed away at the age of 85 on November 19th, 2017...

    In 1974 & 75 Mel Tillis songs and a good old cowboy to dance with, was the best times ever! lol and a duly truck!👍

    I like hearing this type of country music ...brings back the ole so long ago times .
    Mel was very outstanding in his field....In fact , that's where they found him , out standing in the field

    Thanks for posting! The video is certainly, er, different! This version of "Sawmill" is the original from 1959 on Columbia Records (and written by Tillis.) Mel recorded this again in an entirely different version fourteen years later; the two versions couldn't sound more different. The latter version was a number 2 hit on the country charts in 1973 that was on MGM Records. They're both good on their own merit; this one sounds kind of rockabilly. His 1973 version is totally different; it's practically a different song. But again, both are great songs!

    Absolutely wonderful song. This version is great, too. You can tell he's alot younger here. Should've had some logging and milling going on instead of the city footage but thank you for the upload regardless. Cheers!
