Keegan is a phenomenal actor. The quiver in his voice as he gets more uncomfortable is incredible. Hard to make it sound as natural as he does
It's genius because you first think it's a look that he's giving just because he is uncomfortable at the ludicrous display from the shopper, but on a re-watch, you know he's actually uncomfortable because that's actually him that he's mimicking.
Who wouldn't be uncomfortable in that situation though...? Lol I think he tried to envision about what it would be like to be the mattress salesman and then just executed it as if it was a real life situation.

Key is an incredible actor, it’s crazy how he embodies every character and becomes the character he’s playing!!!
He plays the straight man in 90% of key and peele sketches. Peele is the one that actually becomes the character he plays. Key is playing the same character here as he does in like 20 other sketches, I don’t know why you there’s such high praise for that

Jonah because when his neighbor is fucking, he can’t get any sleep because his bed moves everywhere. That’s why he went to buy a new one so the bed wouldn’t move. He was basically testing the beds in the stores to see which one didn’t move.

Yea Peele is also a great actor but some people don't know that Peele is a more talented writer then he is an actor, the man could be a top notch director/producer in Hollywood. Key and Peele both have their strengths and Peele will be the first to say his acting skills are good but key is a better actor. His roles flow better, seem more natural.

The mattress salesman is the guy who has all the sex, and the customer is his neighbor. The neighbor is pissed because the salesman is having a ton of loud sex that ruins his sleep, so he goes to the salesman's place of work and allows him to comprehend how uncomfortable hearing all that sex makes a person feel.

Clearly it's an early, maybe mid 30's man-child still living at home with his mother, and he's traumatized by her having some dude over every night (most likely a stepdad) giving her that good D. He's looking for a new mattress that sturdy enough to handle all the commotion. Or possible his mother made him go buy a new one for her and her lover, since apparently they are performing some high intensity action, thus wearing out the old one. Him wearing the footie pajamas clearly indicates this theory is highly probable.
