MCU proper had many moments similar to this with starlord yelling at his father for putting the cancer in his mothers head, and loki saying he wants his friends, even black panther where they carry on his legacy thru his son, many beautiful moments in the mcu, its just fashionable to hate on marvel now, so people forget, that said, this episode was peak xmen and as a Remy stan, i was so happy, ive done so many thing for others by sacrificing what i love so others can be happy, i felt for Remy so so much, great episode
This was a great episode to be sure. The funny thing is Gambit has the potential to be a Omega level as his powers kept growing. He had to get a surgery to limit his power so he doesn't reach that point. But yea Gambit is much stronger than most give him credit for. Fucked up thing is Gambit died thinking his girl picked the old man over him. Glob is a fan favorite from the comics, it is kinda of just a fun cameo.
His power was a detriment to his life, similar to Cyclops and Rogue but worse. And Gambit is no slouch in the Danger Room, he trains, but his original power was way too volatile. The surgery nerfed him but in a good way. He can live without blowing any and everything and eveyone around him because of it. So he's somewhere at alpha-level but a f*cking powerful alpha-level.
Bro I watched the first time I almost cried twice then i tried to rewatch the episode and bro I cried! A couple of days back, while the first 2 episodes were released, Gambit's voice actor told some people that this episode was going to Be Crazy!
It’s so funny to me that this show is considerably more mature than all of the MCU shows they were trying to sell us as being mature. Like I saw the trailers for Echo and immediately knew I wasn’t going to be able to take that seriously because violence does not equal maturity. Meanwhile there’s X-Men and I didn’t really know what to think because it was a spin off to a 90s cartoon I had never seen And now here it is actually making me feel things with only a TV 14 rating.
If there was one good thing that the X-Men the Animated Series had done back in the early nineties was always have the great scenes and story lines from the comics that they based their episodes from. And this is no exception especially for Gambit when he is probably jumping the gun between himself and Magneto and the southern belle for the South Rogue in a three-way love triangle. Even still though the comedic moments that were delivered in this episode were very great. Plus I have a feeling somewhere down the road they're going to incorporate Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier's half-sister, who caused the devastation of mutant kind to happen. I do like to return of cable and that they have a nice little touching moment between himself and Madelyne Pryor.
It was so good, i def teared up a couple of times(for gambit especially). Gambit stole this episode for me!!!! I also liked the drama too ngl it was really good. Fantastic, and great review Unrooolie i need something happy now too😂

Growing up in the 90s Gambit was my favorite X-Man but as I got older it was Storm and Magneto as favorite Marvel villain. X-Men fans hurting in a kind of ways after this episode. Didn't expect Logan to turn away Jean's advances. And did y'all catch that Uatu cameo before the devastation started? (This why we needed Storm back. No one to bring the forecast.)
Hot damn....I wouldn't be surprised if Rouge was a mess for the rest of the series. I was not expecting this....at all. Not only did they kill off Magneto, but they also killed off Gambit.....and man did they go out like G's especially Gambit.

Bro Gambit has been by far my favorite X men all my life, and this man was getting done DIRTY at every corner in this show, and now they just KILLED HIM?! I knew this was gonna happen as soon as they were giving him some story and epic moments. But at least they gave him a badass way out if this is how it ends
The morbid part of me wants this stuff to stick but Cable is fixing this stuff. Maybe it will be a Cable-centric episode(s) seeing him in the future getting ready to warn his mom and then trying to get back there. I don't think no one is ready for who is coming and possibly behind the attack. And the pink guy is Glob Herman and his body made up of living wax.
Episode 7 “Bright Eyes” I predict will be all about that. Make it like Groundhog Day, having Cable go back over and over trying to make things right and having to come to terms with that fact he can’t save everyone without losing the future.

Pure Soap Opera, Beau Demayo is a masterclass writer imho. Season 2 is by him too, I can't wait for the finale... like are we ready for what he has cooked for us 😅
Out of all the episodes I saw in X-Men 97 so far, Episode 5 is definitely my favorite one and is the absolute best one so far despite everything that happened in it and it is a must watch for all X-Men fans. Also, I can’t believe that it’s only the halfway point of Season 1 and Episode 5 made me cry too.
Watched it with waifuand we are in our feels. So deep. And she's starting to love Gambit. I did not want this to happen to the Cajun. And when Cable said, " Not again.." I was like. "OH SNAP! WE GOING INTO THE APOCALYPSE WITH THIS!" 😢 I do love the drama they are bringing from the source material. It's just. So good.
I won‘t lie, this episode made me hate Rogue. Gambit has shown nothing but true love to Rogue for 5 seasons (which we can assume is a few Years) and she returned thise feelings to him. And she threw *everything* away because she cannot sleep with him and immediately jumped into Magneto‘s arms. She didn’t even try any alternatives, no toys or tech from the future Bishop could’ve brought her to supress her powers, she just broke all those years of building up off. And sure, she changed her mind and admitted she does love Gambit… *after she broke his heart, danced and kissed Magneto in front of his eyes and played with the emotions and feelings of both of them.* I expected the worst when i saw the tease in Episode 2 and they still managed to make it worse.
Marvel hates Gambit and im sick of it ! Been my favorite character since literally the original 97 show and theyve done nothing cool with him, the movies were lacking. And now theyre gonna kill him off in his beat irritation?
This probably isn't gonna happen, but imagine if this episode leads to an all-out Human-Mutant war and X-Men 97 ends the series with the war raging on and then fades to black. Then, the sequel series gets revealed, set 102 years later, and it's called "Spider-Man 2099" or "X-Men 2099" or heck, "Marvel 2099" 🤯 Remember that the world of Marvel 2099 is a post-apocalyptic world set after a Human-Mutant war, and one of the reasons New York got renamed to Nueva York during Miguel's time was that it had to be rebuilt from the damages of the war. If you think Mutant treatment in 1997 was bad, it's worse in 2099 post-war. Not just mutants, but mutates and anyone with powers. The police has a fricking shoot-on-sight order for Spider-Man, ffs.

X-Men has been my favorite soap opera since I was 13. This episode absolutely delivered on that front and then some.
