  • HOW CAN WE MAKE A TURBO COMBO BETTER? IF WE HAVE A TURBO, AND HAVE MAXED OUT THE FLOW RATE OF THE TURBO, CAN WE MAKE THE COMBO ANY BETTER? LET'S TALK TECH.

I think I've seen a common internet theory that pre-turbo water/meth causes the compressor map to dynamically shift due to the cooling characteristics. I suppose it makes sense due to the fact that compressor maps are just flow rate in relation to pressure over rotational speed, and since Pressure> is a function of air density >which is directly proportional to air temperature.
However, I don't have any personal experience.

people need to accept facts . if you want more hp then a gt45 can do change turbo .im hoping mine stays together to max out the gt45 . ill be happy there

If you plan on running it at the max output and impeller speed all the time, it won't last long-better to step up to a bigger turbo

I just realized today that for the poll of this stream some guys (me too) suggested cam timing might make more power if a turbo is maxed out without remembering that every cam is a turbo cam. lol. But would a "turbo" cam do it with less boost and maybe live longer because it's trying to make peak cylinder pressure at a different spot?

      would what live longer?

@@richardholdener1727 A motor might be able to run more boost before lifting a head and maybe less strain on crank/pistons cuz the peak cylinder pressure thing and I'd imagine a "turbo" cam has slightly less aggressive intake lobes so it's easier on half of the valvetrain.

Why not just 2 gt35's? Wouldn't you get pretty fast spool and potentially 1200 hoarse

Im sure youve gotten this question but im having an issue sizing a turbo for a ford 300 inline. Being such a low rpm motor, ive had a difficult time deciding.

@richardholdener1727 I've been working Mechanics for 25 years but I'm new to the turbo game. I know the 300 heads/intake have low flow issues. I'm EXPECTING tops I can get is somewhere around 350. 450 would be better (as always lol)

@richardholdener1727 you know, after watching a bunch of your videos I realize your definitely the guy to test a 300. If you ever have the chance, I request it with utmost enthusiasm 😉

Is there a good chart for starting HP vs maximum turbo size for... "respectably" low lag? That'd be the 2 most correlated things, right? Like yeah, some turbos are just made better, but beyond that.
Water injection into the exhaust before turbo? Colder gasses require less flow. Well, i guess that's the same as waste gate being open; that was dumb and I'll blame it on being tired.
On the subject of just adding a second turbo, what if the second turbo is supplied exhaust THROUGH a waste gate, so first turbo has low lag? Same with cold side, through a blow off valve.

you start by getting the compressor that will supply the power you need and then pick the hotside will spool where you want it and thats as good as it gets for a compound you pick the second turbo based on total airflow of the first turbo and engine

why dont you demonstrate what happens when you run simple charge pipe plumbing compared to one with many bends...do one with 3 bends and one with 8 bends. that would be cool to know. are short radius bends allot worse than long bends- data like that would be cool.

I’m building a LY6 with ring gap. I have a T4 78mm turbo with a .96 ar exhaust housing. Will it be responsive and will I have back pressure issues.

As long as the tune is on point... u need a bigger/better turbo.
If it flows 800 hp u only going to make 800hp at best.
More than likely it wont even make the full 800😂😂

Test drove a 2015ish Buick Encore with the 1.4 turbo. Charge pipe disconnected vs connected... they must be cramming a lot of boost into that little thing... well, that also fails the MAF, which is a second variable... maybe limp mode kind of thing.

heres a question when we want to make more power out of the engine we dont accept the fact that the engine is only capable of 275 hp. We modify it and it makes more power and in some cases even more torque. What happens if you go in there wiith a die grinder and start porting the compressor housing or the exhaust and get more flow out of the turbo, since it’s no longer on the engine that it was designed for to make 800 hp let’s modify it for the application

Is 10.5 compression on 10 psi boost is the limit of e85?
So, your fuel ultimately is the limit and your exhaust dump, of course, on boost.
