    expecting v8 sound quality out of a v6 is the key mistake. you should try to make it sound like a good v6, not try to get the volume of the v8. AFE and borla make great kits that enhance the natural sound of the motor without making it sound like a ricer.

    Hey I will say the MBRP cat back performance in black has really been awesome. I can talk normally at highway speeds. The loudest thing I have are the tires. If there is any drone, my MT's tires must drown that out.
    What I have found, is that when I regeared its has a lot of low end torque now, I can attest that the exhaust sounds a lot better. It even grumbles when its downshifting which is really awesome. The longer I've driven it the better it sounds...and no its not a V8 but ive driven enough V8's in my lifetime to know what the sound difference is...but the sound thats coming out of her now is really nice...it gets compliments on its sound all the time...especially that cat back grumble. I actually roll the windows down so I can hear it even better but u can hear it in the cab with them up too. But I do think having more low end torque like the truck has now...does make a difference.

    My 2006 v6 4.0 l Tacoma sounds great to me, it's stock all the way back and has a TRD tip, I installed an XDI Extreme Duty air filter intake, It's a big can with the filter in it and it has a nice low rumble and when I Hammer down it has a really nice sound, nothing like the tacos I've herd with different exhausts, the intake changed the sound so much compaired to the stock one, lots of people asked if it's a V8 before.

      @@RobMotive Oh i don’t know, because its cool. But you know, i think you are right. Think i will do a single, a quiet one! But if the performance goes way down i am gonna DYI sound proofing it. Going down the freeway we cannot hear each other talk in person much less on the phone. My performance shouldn’t change much i have enough other mods that increase horsepower. You talked me into it, not hard to do when it comes to saving money and precious time. Now do video “dont get a cold air intake WARNING YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSTALL A SNORKEL” Like i did. Funny thing is, my cold air intake and exhaust were the first mods i did, DYI. Then I bought the OME BP51 complete suspension lift, all with out doing any research. Then i started researching thing because i wanted to add things to it. I found i installed mid travel suspension, not what i wanted. 2 years ago I did this. I just ordered long travel front coilovers and total chaos LCA’s. Long travel is going to be way better, or extended travel. I already welded on total chaos LCA cam tab gussets and steering knuckle gussets and i have TC UCA’s. Also welded on rock sliders. I wish i had rock sliders on every vehicle i ever owned. I got stop tech big brake kit on the front end. After i do the long travel all i have left to do is bypass shocks front and back, master and back brakes and the differentials and probably have TC axels installed. I already have skid plates, back bump stops and hellwig back sway bar. I have front and back bumpers with 12,000 lbs winch and all the recovery stuff. I bought a 9,000 lbs winch that i can put on the back, just in case. I have clam shell roof top tent, bed stiffeners, and a really nice bed rack. I have LED’s all over it. • @wravennft7843
    @wravennft7843 Před 2 lety +1

    So your personal opinion on the sound of the exhaust warrants a title that this ruins a Tacoma? if you don't want a louder exhaust or want to change the sound of it don't do it, wouldn't say this ruins the truck... it just changes it, at the end of the day this is personal preference and research is key here. Some sites are good about providing a scale on how much the volume will change on the exhaust you are looking at but it is something to absolutely keep in mind. But in my opinion a good exhaust should have no drone and pairs nicely with a good cold air intake. I personally have a K&N cold air intake and a MBRP 3" cat back and love the sound of it, I don't find it interrupts or drowns my conversations with others or interfere with my ability to hear in the vehicle what so ever. So really this comes down to how sensitive you are to sounds and if you're someone who thinks kids play there music to loud and need a walker to get around then maybe stick with stock exhaust.

    Amen brother! Did virtually the same thing on my new 21'. Put the stock back on and that's what's on there now. Had the TRD exhaust on my previous 13' and was a little better than stock but not by much. I believe if they would put on a true dual exhaust (two mufflers, converters,etc) the sound would be a lot better. Ever hear a Pontiac Grand National with the factory V6 and duel exhaust, was very nice.

  • @ajackinthebox99
    @ajackinthebox99 Před 2 lety +1

    TRD pro catback and Borla will be the most mellow exhaust. ( Borla will have a little more sound ) Magnaflow, MBRP, and Carven will be the loud raspy ones. Magnaflow usually isn’t loud but they are on this truck. R4T is the best in my opinion. It’s deep like Borla but it’s a turn down so you’ll hear it better, and the ones who go off-road have more clearance with the R4T.
