What area of you life feels to complex?
My work demands drains 100% of my energy.
We're expected to answer emails and text on nights and weekends.............even joins teams meeting on days off.
Other than that, I live a simple life and no stressors outside of work.
Work can be, but the remedy is effective time management, which, after the unexpected arises, I pause and remember and enact it.
Otherwise, the only other complexity was family but since relocating and setting and maintaining boundaries, that is not an issue. It's all about self-care to me, and one can practice such and not be selfish. This is as far as I am going to go with you 😉
Always work if everywhere stopped trying to kill everyone with skeleton crews that would be great
@@Beijaxol don't even try to stop thinking. The goal is two-fold: minimize being dragged along as the thoughts arise; and enjoy the space between the thoughts, that space there but you are missing it because you are so focused on thoughts and not wanting them as you are meditating.
I particularly love the social media detox. When I observe silence, it's the first thing I notice, how much time I waste on social media. I try to observe silence for 3-4 days every 3 months. I wish I could fit it in more often! ❤
Reducing complexity is the way for me.
Just got rid of over half my clothes, lots of books, some furniture, and cleaned out the garage.
It feels so much lighter with more open space.
Got a very short hair cut-not yet monk-length but that could be next!
Cut back my work hours now that I'm commuting to work 4 out of 5 days a week.
Meditation, rest, walking, yoga at home, cooking and housecleaning are my main activities outside of work.
My husband does most of the grocery shopping these days.
Less screen time.
And my sleep is better these days.
Wow that’s amazing Susan! Thank you for the update. Keep it up 😊😊
@@nickkeomahavong01
Same to you, Ven Nick!
Keep up your great work!
You're an inspiration!
Still working with all the things I learned from you.
I applaud you, Susan. What an inspiration.
Woww sounds good..u are actually applying all the teachings in your life ❤
A special thank you Venerable Nick for your teachings. My divorce has been extremely difficult, your kindness by reminding us to get to the core of our suffering is sincerely appreciated. You have helped your subscribers understand that despite achieving great merits suffering and impermanence are to be expected and should be dealt with in a natural and positive way
Thank you so much my friend. I’m glad the videos are helpful 😊😊
Bless you on your latest “difficulty”.
May you be well and at ease.
Im sorry, your going though this. Your not alone. You will come out stronger. Iv grown spiritually most in those challenging moments in life. It's just hard to see when you're going through it at the time. Much love
May you be well!
Simplicity is a virtue. This has to be learned . It's wisdom.
😊😊
Knowledge may be learned. Wisdom needs to be comprehended. You cannot 'learn' wisdom. Either you have it or no...
"Less is more, small is beautiful, simple is best"- Papae philosophical proverb from your introduction to the Papae meditation retreat.I committed it to memory.
While not everyone has the strength or the situation to live such in totality, it would behoove us to determine where changes must be made and implement a structured plan so that we can remain healthy, free, and light.
Since the world is not getting any better, we must 🙏
Oh wow! That’s so great that you remember it 😊😊😊
@@nickkeomahavong01 Oh, yesss! It's a childhood gift. I draw from such wisdom to remain focused and encouraged, especially when difficulties arise. It serves as a mental anchor.😊
Be it known:
Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit!
I tell ye, truly, Jesus of Nazareth is the propitiation for the whole world's sins. He is the anointed one, for he is, Jesus Christ. God the Father has raised him from the dead; who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God! Angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes to the Father, but by him. They who believe and are baptized with the Holy Spirit shall be saved; but they who believe not shall be damned. For they who believe not on him, shall die in their sins!
I tell ye now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father!
There are *NO* sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you!
They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God...
Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask:
"Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen."
1 John 2:2 KJV
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Acts 13:26-33 KJV
26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, *and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.*
27 *For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.*
28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.
29 *And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.*
30 *But God raised him from the dead:*
31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.
32 *And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,*
33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
1 Peter 3:22 KJV
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
John 14:6 KJV
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Mark 16:16 KJV
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
John 8:24 KJV
24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
Acts 2:38 KJV
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Luke 11:13 KJV
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
John 14:21-24 KJV
21 *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.*
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.*
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.*

I love this!
Your video comes at the right time for me. I’m trying to reduce stress and anxiety. I got rid of a lot of things and am starting to simplify my wardrobe. My phone is a hard one for me. I’m addicted and have a hard time leaving it in the morning, even though it gives me anxiety and starts my day wrong in every way. It’s a process and I am excited about going back to a more simple life.
Thank-you for your videos, I really enjoy listening to your wisdom.
Yayyyy! I’m glad you’re taking the steps. Yes some things are harder to detach from and it will take some time but you’re doing great! Keep it up 👍
I am in a very difficult phase if my life right now..your words and wisdom give me reassurance and hope...
I read your book today, The Buddhist Cleanse. I want to tell you and others that this book opened my eyes about myself for the first time in 67 years..Your book is so powerful. Thank you and Phra
Michael Viradhammo for writing it.
Thank you Venerable Nick. Your words resonated so much this morning.
As a teacher of 10/11 year olds, I describe life in the 70s and 80s. They tell me, "Whoa, that must have been soo boring." 😂😂
The thing is, it wasn't. We all had time and head space. I tell them, how, if we wanted to talk to our friends, we would have to arrange a time to meet. Or just knock on the door and ask, "Is x coming out to play?" If the answer was no, then trot back home, read a book or rearrange my room or sew some clothing for my doll etc
Boring, never.
Simple and easier, definitely.
I often consider how much time everyone seemed to have back then and I do put the difference down to mobile technology. Of course it has so many uses but I definitely need that simplification. Thank you🙏
Wow thank you so much for sharing that. I do remember knocking on the door. Haha. That’s such a great example of how simple it was 😊
Yes the 70"s -80's was a much simpler .
Needed this, especially today after several mental breakdowns. Pain and suffering has been the theme all week. Thank you for posting. ❤
I’m glad it’s helpful 😊
Sending you love.
My need to look successful, special, togeather has driven me. As long as l was looking for peace, groundedness, my true self in externals...l was lost. I am lonely for me. Huge suffering.
It reinforces and confirms the way that I live my life: less is more, small is beautiful, simple is best.
As always, thank you. Blessings to you and your family.
Take care.💪
When I am not stressed I see how less I need. But when I'm stressed and there's still a lot to do, I sometimes feel like I cannot care for me anymore. I cannot come down .. And in these moments I stroll social media and online shopping. I think it is to 'keep going' even when I'm exhausted.
It's better to be healthy and alone than to be unhealthy with someone. That's why I keep my distance from family, yes, family. They are definitely a drain for me.
😊
Love this….
Since I have become minimalist and simplified in my life, I am calmer and much more content and happier 😆🙏🏻
Wonderful! I’m so glad to hear 😊
🥰🥰🥰🥰
You don't need to be the exemption to succeed. We always look at our goals but fail to pay attention to the journey. If you don't spend time to slow down and take a breath, you're bound to miss lessons that will ultimately make you a better person.
😊😊😊
I would say my life feels complex when I believe I need to solve all my life problems etc in a unrealistic short amount of time. Realizing there is a time and place for everything in life and my recent trip to Hawaii to visit family, helped me to slow down and be in the moment.
Take care venerable Nick
Wonderful wisdom my friend. Yes it does take time to un-tie the knots. Just do it patiently and gently 😊
Thank you Venerable Nick. It really makes my day. a hidden source of our suffering I think is also our Expectation. We expect a lot of things in our life. How to cultivate No Expectation is still a long way to learn.
That’s a very good point coco 😊
Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu, Venerable Nick!
Thank you so much 😊
"Less is more, small is beautiful, simple is best."
You right they say we listening and watching then they get rich we get poor and depressed and sick in mind
Inspirational teaching. I will stay on the path that I am on- few worldly cares, few worldly possessions, and freedom.
Wonderful! 😊😊 thank you
Absolutely 😊
Video dropped at a good time, thank you
Oh wonderful! I’m glad it’s helpful 😊
Complexity is fascinating to me. I enjoy technology but I realize how much work it took to achieve the technology we have. We stand on the backs of giants ! However I do not think everyone has the mental facilities to really sort through the chaos the internet has brought us. However for those with higher IQ we seem to be able to sort the chaos and make use of it in positive ways.
The key is ... Desire... Desire causes suffering. That's the root. To face this "complexity" you must remove yourself from feeling that you need to be as those on social media.
Desire nothing and you will find suffering is optional.
Yes!!! You hit it on the head 😊😊
@@nickkeomahavong01 I must know something. On your path to share and teach, is it not painful to wish to do so?
Sometimes we choose how we suffer, but is it worth it?
Personally I think that improvement is suffering but the kind that is worth it. Growth pains maybe? Just something to consider... How much self sacrifice is too much?
Not to exaggerate, but this video was life-changing for me. Thank you, Ajahn Nick.
I hope you have a safe and good time in Singapore, where I am sure you will be very well-loved. Sadly, I cannot attend your talk, but please know that you've made an impact on my life and I really love your videos.
Seeking forgiveness from you, Bhante, for any misdeed I may have done to you in word, thought, or deed.
"Who are you around that drains so much of your energy?"
Great and thought provoking question.
I live in TN and my family in MD.
Need I say more?😊
The way he laughs at the number of problems we have 😂😂😂
Amazing message
Beautiful messages once again Venerable Nick. Love from from Melbourne Australia
Thank you! Greetings to you my friend 😊
that is very true, that is my main source of suffering... im working on making my life more simple, removing material objects from my life and activities that just drained my energy like social networks. i rahter choose to watch your videos teacher, rather then social media... you talk about very importent topic that are improtant to me.. i always love buddhism.. my goal is to be maximal minimalist two weeks im working intensively to remove objects i that dont serve me from my home .. and also 3 days ago i lost my mobile phone so i decidet to give up social netowrks entirely
Yes continue to surround yourself with positive things 😊
Beautiful my Brother🙏
Hola Nick! Great message! I just realized how complex our lives are with technogy. I grew up in the 80's and we didn't have cell phones only house phones. One line to talk every body in the house. I totally resonate with you. Social media takes my time but not so much, I only use them for texts and for information and also watching k dramas that I love them as most of the times they give me beautiful feelings ❤️💜 Sadhu! Namo Buddhaya 😊
Thankyou so much Venerable Nick. I have looked forward to your videos so very much, and I have noticed my life changing because I take your words to heart. It has been for at least a year now, perhaps more🙂
I journal about your teachings and also meditate ( and look forward to that) I consider your teachings to be an anchor in my life. Every single thing that I do in my days feel so different now- I feel so much gratitude and hope one day that I will be able to meet you, or go to a retreat that you would be teaching .
This will be just a wonderful experience someday. Now, I have wonderful contentment in my days, in large part because of your merits. Thankyou always, Nancy
Aww that’s wonderful to hear Nancy. Thank you for taking the time to share. I think your journey will inspire others. Keep up the great work 😊😊😊
Ven Nick, the main cause of my suffering is the strong attachment to money. It causes fear n insecurity in me so much that causes sleepless nights and affects mental health. The uncertainties of the future is scary...
Yes that can definitely contribute to it. For now, just acknowledge it neutrally. This is the first step.
Your videos are life changing. Thank you for your content. It's one of the best things on the internet.
Aww that’s so kind of you. Thank you for your kind words Fuchsia 😊😊
Many people are living lives speeded up to the max Nick, messages coming at them from their phones, tv, radio, newspapers 24/7/365. It's a pressure cooker with all the inevitable stressors, anxiety and disease. Never ending desires and consumption are the devils waiting to trick us. Your message is most welcome. Thanks so much for sharing...Stuart
Finances and retirement are weighing heavy lately. Especially with the rising costs of living. I'm trying to find ways for me and my family to keep living simply so we can get ahead even in these times of higher than normal inflation.
Great video as always! I think that one of my biggest issues is that I have too many interests. I always want to be able to do more or less everything. I think that I should prioritize more.
"Too much stimulation" If we properly and honestly introspect, most already know what they need to do but either lack the strength to forego the problem sources that may have more peace.
For me, I know that my system needs a quiet and orderly environment. This permits me to get away, recharge, and reflect. This enables me to face life without it consume me.
😊
You’re reassuring and comforting. Thank you for your wisdom Nick.
Aww thank you so much 😊
Hi Venerable Nick,
I have used many of your suggestions to uncomplicated my life. I have unsubscribed to excess eNewsletters that stream into my box everyday. I felt compelled to constantly check those. Now there is more silence. I also do your morning routine of making my bed when I get up and putting money away for a later donation and these bring me peace. Now I just need to rethink all the apps on my phone and pick a few to eliminate. More peace will be on the way! Btw, I love your laugh! It is so comforting…thank you for these videos! ❤
🤣🤣🤣 thank you so much Michele and thank you for the update. It’s so wonderful to hear. I’m glad you’ve been able to implement some of these teachings into your life. That’s so amazing to hear. You’re doing a great job. Please keep it up 😊😊😊
Keep up the teachings.
Venerable Nick, cheers from the heart your teachings. It's always a pleasure and a true source of wisdom to hear from you.
Thank you kindly! Hope you are doing well Evanio 😊
Yes Nick, haha I have 16 worries but I have bit by bit decreased them from listening to your Wonderful Advise given very gently. Less is better for a well balanced life of Peace more than stress. Thank you my friend
Oh wonderful Peggy! That’s great to hear. Please keep it up 😊😊
My Mom has dementia and I've been watching her slip away from me for years now and as her caregiver has been beyond hard. I was adopted and have literally no family other than her. Zero people to turn to and she was the only one to ever be there for me always and now that's gone. Dementia and caregiving is complex and I have no choice. I'm severely having a hard time with depression and anxiety and just don't seem to be able to do it on my own anymore....wish I had just 1 person there to help me.
Bless you! My momma had dementia and for me to be her caregiver too it was absolutely the hardest thing I had ever done. I have no words of advice but I am sending you all my love.
I have been there I was care giver for my mom for 8 yrs. She was in a nursing home for 6 yrs. I was always on call .I am a retired healthcare worker that took care of dementia pts for 35 yrs .My mom also had dementia and even with all my experience it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Even after she passed I had to deal with her estate for three yrs. I loved my mom with all my heart and I would do it all again just to have one more day with her. I also had no other family to help. I feel your pain . It will be over one day hang in there. Go and see if your family doctor can set you up with a councillor it will help .Good luck and god bless

I definitely can relate I feel very burn out and tired. I’m a single mom of a 3 and 14 year old. I’m always tired but it won’t always be like this. They won’t always be young. They are the lucky ones. I’m not young anymore but I remember that was the best time of life. I love to reminisce.

Financially, I am good. You know why? I stay away from those who would rather ask for money than to improve their lives so that they don't have to ask.
These are the same people who either won't or can't help you if you need it or seem to have forgotten all the times that you were there for them.
😊
Thanks.

Dear ven. Nick thank you so much again for sharing your wisdom! I found in it the answer abour my previous question. I realize that ut takes time to fix the issues but it is necessary to take action and to start and to be patience and keep going!!!!!

More Blessings to you and thank you for reminding us and of how to "uncomplicate" life.✨
You are so welcome! Thank you 😊
Venerable Nick, I want to ask you a question, How should a person live if he has decided to remain single by intention due to multiple reasons. Today's world is so revolving around relationships and romance and love that people try to demean us and defame us by believing that we're missing something, majority days it's cool but some days it feels a deep fomo. How do we handle this criticism by our family friends peers that just because we made a different choice, we missed out on something?
Sadhu sadhu 🙏
Take some time to get clear on your intention. You can even write it down. Then always come back to this to remind yourself.
@@nickkeomahavong01 Venerable Nick, I'm in my 20s right now, been doing a wonderful job with a good income that supports me and I practice Dhamma daily. I mainly live a very solitude life, never lonely but alone. I meditate for hours even after my work. And on weekends my whole day is divided into learning Suttas, practicing bhramaviharas and cultivation of metta. I'm also celibate since last 3 years and want to continue on this path. I travel solo mainly and I love taking all experiences meeting new people and culture and learning from them. I also support the monastic community in my nearby monastery by providing whatever help that is required. I very very very much love this solitude life and I feel I would be doing an injustice to a partner If I date because I wouldn't like to spend much time with them! But my family is putting very heavy pressure on me, they say
Who will take care of you if you remain single? I answer, I am a grown up and can take care of myself, also there are assisted living where 24×7 help is provided
You'll feel lonely! But I know I won't! And even if it is just for a moment or two.
I very well know I'm on correct path but I feel resistance from all side.
