- Welp, you wanted it, you asked for it, you would not stop begging for it, so here it go LOL: My all new, latest, expanded and updated CBS Saturday Morning Bumpers collection from 1979 to 1997. I managed to find a couple of the CBS Kidz bumpers from 1996, and some show bumpers from "Garfield and Friends" to make up for the 1989-90 section ( I found out that CBS didn't produce any bumpers for that year) I also wasn't too sure when the Felix bumpers ended, so they were de-expanded to 1994 and 1995. The update comes in when I found out some yearly bumper end dates officially. I also had to take out half of the Felix bumpers, due to time constraints (CZcams would not let me upload and videos longer than 15 minutes). But in any respect, here is the collection you all were waiting for!
OMG THE "SPECIAL" SPIRAL! It still gives me anticipatory goosebumps. Talk about Pavlovian response.
I know. I'm in my mid-40's, and still fondly remember that.
Especially anticipating... (hint, hint) *"Christmastime is here We'll be drawing near"*

That's when I knew a Charlie Brown special was coming on!
I heard it from my room when I was like 5 or 6 and supposed to be going to bed. I came screaming in a panic because I figured it was charlie brown or something to that effect (I had been conditioned) turned out it was some sports special.
@3:38-3:58; that was my all time FAVORITE set of bumpers!
The 86-89 bumpers are what I remember the most. I watched the Muppet babies Garfield and peewee on CBS. Brings back memories. Thank you for that.
Keith: THANK YOU! I have looked all over the place for the CBS bumpers from 1986-87, with the cones saying "YA BA DEE AH" (or something like that, at 4:52). It stuck in my head one morning as I was gettng ready to attend a high school math competition.
That stuck in my head as well.
Same. I came here specifically to find these!
It was a ritual to get up at 6am to watch cartoons until noon. I miss those days!
CBS had unique bumpers around 1979-1980 with a kid taking a blimp and throwing it as a football. Then around 1982-1983, they used video game effects like Tron and Space Invaders. This was all those years I watched The Bugs Bunny Roadrunner Show religiously 1978-1984.
My favorites were the outer space bumpers. My parents used to tape the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show and the Get Along Gang for me and my sister when we were two and three (respectively), so these were the first bumpers I remember seeing. My all time favorite was the shooting star diving into the Milky Way.
Those were great, and so were the video game bumpers that started in 1983. That especially resonates with me since I was just starting to play them around that time.
RIP Saturday Morning Cartoon (1960?-2014)
Hanna Barbera, Filmnation, Ruby-Spears, DFE-Films/Marvel, DiC, Saban
Jesse Lockhart more like 1960 to 2000 :)
redracer1985 2000 Is a time that the FCC took a stranglehold on cartoons but there was still SMC. They just came from Japan.
+redracer1985 1995 was the downfall for me.
As for Saturday Morning itself, it's still around to this day, albeit with Hearst-owned Litton Entertainment airing blocks on NBC, CBS, ABC and The CW and Steve Rotfeld Productions airing Xploration Station on FOX. Although Saturday Morning Cartoons are no more, you can buy every Saturday Morning Cartoon series on DVD on Amazon and at stores everywhere, keeping the Saturday Morning legacy alive for years and generations to come!
Saturday Mornings haven't been the same for me since at least the early 90's.
I remember these so well. Too bad the actual cartoons never were as cool as the video arcade bumpers from the mid-80's
Dang this brings back my childhood memories !!!!
I never realized how funny the Felix ones were...and that spiked hair person.
The one that starts at 3:54 seems to have been the inspiration for the intro to the Transformers animated movie which came out in 1986.
82-85 were my favorite ones as a kid. I can almost see myself waiting for Saturday Supercede to come back on.
As much as I love all these bumpers, I especially like the 1987-1989 bumpers. They just seemed like they were so much fun for the kids in them, and I really wished I could have been in on it. I was 9 in 1987.
It's amazing how well I remember the CBS bumpers, starting with the 1982 set, when I had a lot more trouble remembering the NBC and ABC bumpers when I was little.
Were the video game and space bumpers used in the 1985 season? I do remember those bumpers when I was younger, and I thought they might've been used with the specific bumpers made in 1985. They have a similar enough feel, and I was so young I'd be amazed if I could remember the other bumpers if they were all phased out by 1985.
My favorite set was the 1993 season bumpers. It's a shame most of them are lost. The first couple of weeks only used 3 sets of bumpers, only used for the new shows that season, while the older shows continued using the Fido Dido bumpers. On October 2, 1993, 6 more were introduced and used for all the shows, including the sole bumper from that season seen here. Then on Either January 1, 8, or 15, 1994 (I can't recall the exact date), 4 more bumpers were introduced, bringing the total to 13.
I love the bumpers from 1987-1989 period, I was really small that time 1-3 years old during that period.
Lucky. I wasn't born until 2003. I missed out :(
cbs was one of my favorite saturday morning channels for good old cool saturday morning cartoons back then now today its not so much
"Pee Wee's Playhouse" was on CBS.
I remember watching the Felix the Cat bumpers on Cartoon Network LA.
I get such a warm feeling...makes me feel like a kid again just missing a bowl of Capn Crunch.
Very good expansion you did on the CBS Saturday Morning bumpers
The weird pop art one with the cone crawled out of the very bottom of my memory. I was ~2 and in my memory I’m seeing it at an angle (looking up at the TV) but it’s still in there. I thought the 1987-89 one was the first one I remembered, but that is not the case
AAHHHHHH, what memories!!!
I loved the CBS bumpers the most because they were by far the most creative and had a sign off bumper after the commercial that followed the credits of each show
I was born in 1975. To me, the 1980s cbs bumpers were the best!!
Nickelodeon must come back to CBS on Saturday mornings; *OR ELSE!*
Like the "What A (Gonna) Party" CBS Kidz bumpers.
erievintagevideo has the other bumpers for "Hey Vern, It's Ernest!"
10:47 CBS and Toonsville TV and Toonsville TV Movie Channel Felix the Cat Bumper (1994-2019)
6:14 h ell yes I remember the 1989- early 90s ones clear as day ( probably because I watched VHS tapes my father taped when I was a little kid). Except it was on Peewee's Playhouse and the kid said, "5 more minutes Mr. Mouse!"
Maaan taped or not, These are so flippin nostalgic 💜

i remember back in New York, in 1980-82 there were bumpers on a turtle and hare racing, penguins playing hockey with a puck having the CBS logo, and then there was a cowboy shape of a TV with the CBS logo chasing a bandido until the bandido got caught tied on a rope by the CBS cowboy those were Saturday morning bumpers
Wow you probably did a lot of work finding these!!!!!!! Would you happen to have any from The Woody Woodpecker show on weekday afternoons? It also came on Saturday mornings but I specifically remember weekday afternoon bumpers.
I actually didn't know Garfield and Friends had its own specially made commercial bumpers (not CBS') during its original run. I never saw those.
I remember those bumpers. They only lasted one season.
I could have sworn part four was on later in the 80s
When you heard “and now, these messages”, you knew the show was over.
that part
"Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Show" was on CBS.
I remember the 1983-85 cartoon bumpers and the 1986-87 ones. I never could understand what they were saying at 4:56 "have a deeba" or "have a chia" or ?
I was young, back in those days.
don't forget the 1980-81 CBS Saturday Morning bumpers?
Awesome! Although I thought that there were more CBS bumpers that involved a girl changing her faces and an alligator snapping at a bird, but maybe those were on another channel...
You remember correctly. The girl changing her face was from the 1995 season, and the alligator snapping at a bird was from the 1993 season. The 1993 set had 13 bumpers, only half of one is shown here. 1995 did not use the Felix bumpers, and doesn't have any representation here.
Mallory P. Maggiore I remember that Garfield bumpers
"Fat Albert will return after your CBS station gets about several million dollars worth of quarters in 3-4 minutes. BTW, during Saturday Supercade, your TV has been fitted with a coin slot. To minimize ad break length, insert quarters in slot before the ad break. Thanks for supporting CBS Saturday Supercade!"
Puts quarters in slot thx for watching CBS SATURDAY SUPERCADE
Are you going to update the CBS Saturday morning bumpers?
I assume Muppet Babies and Pee Wee's Playhouse retained the 88-89 control room bumpers for 89-90. Other shows used their custom bumpers, Garfield did.
+ir10031981 Pee-Wee's Playhouse had custom bumpers in 89-90 as well.
The Felix bumpers lasted for one season (1994-95).
+Keith Norman Keith can you upload pbs Kids dash and dot bumpers (1999-2012)
Do you have any of the CBS Storybreak Episodes.
Please contact me.
4:36 OMG

Cool
I remember "The Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner Show" was on CBS.
That show was from Warner Brothers.
once again like the other collection of CBS bumpers Felix the Cat was funny!!!!!!......though I wasn't watching Saturday morning TV then I was watching Saturday baseball this started in the mid '80s

CBS and ABC seemed to bput effort in their bumpers while NBC just ran almost the same bland bumpers for nearly a decade.
CBS, to me, had the best Saturday morning bumpers, with NBC's being the worst. As for the color programming bumpers, however, NBC's was the best and CBS's was the worst. That's just me, though.
*ytp*
"The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show" will return after these messages.
And now, back to "The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show".
