Southwest is probably the best-known airline in the USA and what are they known for? Cheap fares on relatively short flights with no extras or amenities. Essentially just a ferry service from one city to the next. Although I have flown Southwest a great many times in my life, I have never flown with them for more than 2 hours. After they started flying to Hawaii back in 2019, that inspired me to see what it was like to fly with them on their longest flight. I must say, for a carrier that is known best for short flights, they have a solid Hawaii product. Passengers get a well-stocked snack box, which is more food I’ve had on a southwest plane than ever before, and a vast island-to-island connection network. It was a nice feeling to be pleasantly surprised by Southwest and I would definitely recommend flying them on their Hawaiian services.

Hello there. Interesting trip report. The flight looked good overall except for the size of the washrooms onboard. Have not yet found a ULCC that has decent sized washroom that do not make you feel like you are in a closet. At least the seats looked comfortable for a 6+ hour flight. Thought that the B737-Max 8 would have a more up to date seat amenities (e.g. Power outlets, USB ports, Entertainment screen, etc.). The one bonus is that they allow you to bring your own food onboard which is nice. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for the continued support! The issue with the size of the Lavatory is a problem seen not only with ULCCs but also full service carriers because the MAX was built to fit more seats in rather than anything else. I do agree that it is a shock that SWA didn’t install power ports on their aircraft from the start; cost-cutting I guess, but they have plans to change that on all their aircraft which will be nice.

@@theplanefacts You are quite welcome. I enjoy watching your trip reports as they give me important information regarding airlines and destinations I might visit in the future. Alot of times, due to the situation mentioned above, I try and regulate both my fluid and solid intake long before boarding so that I will not have to subject myself to the closet-like washrooms on the aircraft. Once again, keep up the good work!

I have been in my native country of Sweden for two months and I’m flying back to the United States today with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). Flying time is about 8:30 from Copenhagen to Newark, NJ. It’s been a great trip. I am looking forward to coming home and seeing my friends and family for the first time in two months. I will be flying on an Airbus A330-343 Which, despite being one of SAS’s older planes, is still very nice to fly on because it is a wide body. I got an upgrade to SAS plus which is almost like business class. Please wish me bon voyage!

Although it might be annoying for most of the flight, I actually found it quite interesting to hear them talking during approach and landing. It kind of reminded me of myself when I was a little kid on flights. 😁

Nothing wrong with these kids, they were pretty well behaved until the landing when they got pretty excited, but what kid wouldn't be excited when landing in Honolulu for the first time? They weren't anything close to obnoxious.
