  • This was taken at the 2019 ATCA Mack Days truck show held at Gerhart Machinery in Lititz, PA. Albert Brown is behind the wheel of his pulling truck, the famous "Back in Black". This truck is pretty well-known throughout Pennsylvania and the northeast, and has been shown all over social media. 1985 Mack Superliner Magnum edition, with a built Mack E9 V8 engine making well over 1000 HP, and a Mack 9-speed. He likes to burn a little rubber when he leaves the show every year, and it always attacts a crowd. As you can see in the video, people were lined up along the driveway and the road to watch. I went across the road to show it from a different angle. You'll also see a couple other Superliners leaving right behind him.

      They just sounded like they had a Rod Knock Ha...
      In 1980 the two 6 cyl Mack's offered were only 237 HP
      And the 300 HP. They had V-8 but I never driven one.
      In 1984 I drove a B-61 model Mack in the City of Mobile AL.
      Had 185 HP ? You would have to tilt your head to the right when hitting bumps or hit your head on the ROOF ? very small cab but a Great Driving Little Truck. It had Two sticks 3 on one and 5 on the other. What was known as a Triplex. 15 forward gears and 3 in Reverse. I drove Duplex two sticks and Quadraplex they had Two sticks with 5 on one and 4 on the other stick. That's 20 forward gears and 5 in Reverse... Hope someone enjoys reading about these GREAT AMERICAN MADE TRUCKS that set the Standards for the Rest of the WORLD.... In my 31 yrs I drove too many to remember.
      Now that first truck should not be huffing Blue Smoke..? That is OIL !

      lbbradley55 I just finished posting about my dad’s B-61. I could stand up going for rides with him. My dad taught me to shift the five and four. lol
      Thinking his was the two hundred hp truck. He was the float driver and that little truck used to pull rock crushers and drag lines. Lots of gears

      @lbbradley55 Před 4 lety +3

      Yea... Those were some cool trucks to drive. I couldn't see down the sides of the Trailer so backing up as I spotted trailers around Mobile was interesting. But most Pickups today have a much bigger cab. Some of the features they had were not on the Trucks I drove in 1980 ? Or later. Like that air limiter to the Brake Foot Valve for Bobtail Driving or the auto louvors in the Radiator Grill. That would open as needed when the temp goes up & close when cold.
      Mack has lead the way for many innovations starting with some of the first American Trucks and one of the best for work applications before Volvo bought them out.
