INSANE Plane Spotting in ST. BARTS! Gustaf III Airport (SBH/TFFJ) (4K)

- Gustaf III Airport, also known as Rémy de Haenen Airport, serves the island of Saint Barthélemy in the northeastern Caribbean.
It's also one of the most challenging airports in the world, with a short runway that has a large hill located right off the runway's western end, meaning planes have to dive for the runway just a few hundred feet in the air.
It's a thrilling experience just to be there, let alone watch on video, so I hope you enjoy this plane spotting compilation from one of the coolest airports on the planet!

The First Rule of St. Bart's: Get the hell on the runway.
The Second Rule of St. Bart's: Get the hell off the runway.
The third rule of St. Bart: Make sure everyone else is the hell off the runway
That tire screech on the Islander doing a U-turn @ 5:44!
Impressive what those Twin Otters can do !!!
They can land on a handkerchief.
@@geoffreymartinez7208 Yes the Twin Otters are remarkable in their aerodynamic handling...
I love that those twin otters can make the 2nd taxiway, no backtrack required 💪
The sad thing is that the DHC-6 of Air Antilles isnt flying anymore after a collision with a Helicopter at St Barts. I will truly miss her
Something else is that the only flying plane sir Antilles has flies in Germany now :( all their twin otter F-OMYR/ F-OMYS (the one in the crash) have both stopped flying. Add well as the 1 ATR plane F-OMYN all have not flown since September 2023
You had way too much fun! 😍
Good call at 22:47 - getting long, incipient porpoise, go around and try again. Even the pros had their hands full in that wind. Except for that helicopter pilot. I've done some back-of-the-envelope flight planning via the Bahamas and Puerto Rico...
I’ve watched so many spotting videos from here but somehow yours just hits different 😂
19:07 helicopter’s skills are perfect!
12:18 Wow What A Beautiful Beach View with A PC-12 taking Off 🛫
As a recent entrant of the plane enjoying community, I have to say that this place is 1000% on my bucket list, that looks like an epic approach
The difference in approach and landing speed between the Twin Otter and Caravan is impressive
I Have so much enjoyed this trimendous video, l watched it right to the end then watched it again, then l put my mobile to the side & watched it again so to give me a better & bigger view of the planes coming in & going out, the video was that good that I was away miles high, if you know what that means, (it means that the video was so enjoyable) so a huge thank you to the person who made this trimendous video, l will be watching it again. - thanks a million.
That helicopter had it easy!
Superb video Alex! Those Islander pilots near the beginning of the video must be very experienced flying there.
Looking very nice being down in paradise!!!😊😊 Thank you for sharing the aircraft scene there.😊
Its always a pleasure to watch aircraft in action at St. Barth Airport.
I admire how you're recording the aircrafts smoothly, well done, enjoyed watching💯
My Dream!
Those DHC-6s sure do stop fast!!
😉seems like that Pilatus PC-12 pilot was showing off a bit. LOL! great video
Wow. Bet that's exciting to fly the first time! Some of those planes have pretty impressive performance
I’m off to SXM later this month will certainly have to do a St Barth trip just to experience that landing Great video 👍
Indeed insane plane spotting man! Liked!
Those twin otters are practically landing in the same distance as that helicopter lol
15:49 look at how quickly the pilot recovers that stall!
Bad ass !! Well done to all those pilots.... 👍
10:00 - First time I've seen any other plane besides the twin otter make the first turn off after landing without having to back taxi.
That was fantastic! Thanks!
One of the world's most hazardous airports. The hill's steepness makes landing feel a bit scary. 😮The airport was named after Swedish king Gustaf III. Due to it being Sweden's only slave colony, it is somewhat a dim story. Gustavia, the capital, bears the name of the same monarch.
nice catches
Best aviation youtuber right here!
Great video, Alex! Thank you for sharing it!
Amazing job! Loved that little DHL, big shout out to the pilots who do this everyday. Must be one hell of a rush doing this back and forth each day.
Incredible landings! Saw one that couldn't land and most that had to brake abruptly to take a sharp turn to the right without turning around! Amazing pilot skills! Great job Alex!
We all float down here... 🎈🎈
Video made my weekend!! Thank you!
Awesome video. Only small planes?
Great fun - thanks for the upload.
Not as challenging as St. Barts, but you might enjoy Culebra, Puerto Rico.
It's requires flying with little clearance in between two small hills, then a hard left at under 100 ft AGL
...and like St. Barts, stopping prior to hitting the bay.
The Twin Otter and Britten Norman built for airfields like this 💪
A lot of skill there! thanks for the video!
Hey Just to let you know WestJet Link operated by Pacific Coastal Airlines is shutting down come October, so if you want to fly the Saab 340 one more time best do it soon. Love the channel by the way
amazing plane spotting video ... 🛬
Great photography Alex!
You must have been thrilled to have been there making this video.
Those Pilatus are such beautiful aircraft. Imagine just aiming between the windsocks and hoping the crosswinds aren't too bad. This is my favourite thing to do on St. Barts these pilots do their thing. You ought to go to the end on St Jean Beach for different view.
More brake dust than the London Underground 😂😂
Great video✈👍
I was sorry to see that the Air Antilles had been in an Accident, that was one of the planes that I enjoyed watching, maybe you will be able to fix it again ( l hope so)
amazing @9:53 how quickly the PC-12 Lands 10 and gets stopped in time to get off Taxiway B 😯
Great video Alex. Love to know what made those wheel tracks down the slope before the freshhold????
Awesome 👍😎
Nice!
Nice man!
Nice vid❤❤
I bet the operators’ maintenance departments must love doing brake work.
9:46 love it how close it was :-)
Seems like a good idea to visit St Maartens and then hop over on a BN2…..perfect holiday
cool
Most of them look like emergency landing coming close on that hillside😅
Landed there late '70s with a friend piloting a 207. That hill was a cliff, you had to drop the aircraft on the runway. Not good for the stomach. Only turboprops could land from the seaside. There was a small plane crashed at the base of that cliff. Hot place, not much to see.
Imagine being a st. Barts commuter pilot and just being able to do that landing with your eyes closed
2:45 OK that pilot is just showing off. (Edit) OK, it's all the Twotter pilots, nevermind. "Hey, wanna see my hummingbird impression?" must drive the Caravan pilots nuts.
The West Indies Helicopter arrival ‘beep’ ‘beep’ ‘beep’ as it reverses onto its helipad
These good pilots don't know the toga!! 😅😅😅😅
Nuts... Respect. I think it takes a good while for any pilot to get reasonably comfortable landing at this place, though I doubt that even the experienced once are ever fully relaxed. Some serious clenching of butt cheeks comes to mind. Thanks!
If I ever get there, I’m putting a dime on the runway because the Twin Otters can stop on it. Great video! ❤ (Can someone loan me a dime? US or Canadian is fine.)
9:46 co pilot was looking at you
I'll bet an empty 757 could get in and out of there!
😂😂😂😂 never get the glide slope of 3 degrees
These landings are very late tought
