theres no way a Top Gun sequal would be complete with out them finding a way to get a F 14 into it some how
Bro, they made whole blockbusting movie about it, this is the sequel. Didn't do that with an F-22. 😂
Of course not, it was the absolute lead STAR of the first Top Gun... had to make another appearance.
The F-14 did such a good job at reprising it’s role that Hollywood has to give it an Oscar this time.
Crazy good cgi too
Cannot agree more! F14 is the bridge between these 2 movies.
This is how you make a "passing the torch" movie. 1. you don't belittle or humiliate your old hero, but you show he still kicks ass. 2. you make a new generation that is eager and brave but inexperienced 3. you put them together in a tough situation, and you have them both survive and win through their mutual collaboration and determined grit. This movie will always be a clear message by Tom Cruise to Hollywood on how they ruined entire franchises through bankrupt, box-ticking obsessed hubris and massive disrespect.
Bonus points: you treat the talisman (in this case the Grumman F-14 Tomcat) with proper reverence.
It's just too bad the rest of the story was so much lower quality than the action.
Action movies don't have to be that way. There's so many with serviceable plots and non combat scenes.
Exactly.
Star Wars, Terminator, Indiana Jones, 007, and other remade/rebooted franchise treated their iconic protagonists with nauseating levels of disrespect. The T-800 was reduced to raising a family and selling curtains... (facepalm)
Well said, my friend, well said!
Somebody get these guys to take over the Star Wars franchise, please.
"Oh God, this thing is so old"
Mav: "Hey, watch your mouth!"
This is home.
Han and Chewey return to the Falcon moment.
He didn't say watch your mouth
"There's 300 breakers back here. Can you narrow it down?""
"I dunno, that was your dad's department."
Rooster: Hey dad..what should i switch on..oh yeah..he's dead mav..
Mav: *silent
I didn't expect an F-14 Tomcat appearance. What a majestic way to end the movie.
It's Top Gun! And it was in the trailer
It was in the trailer and had me, and a million other people, asking
"Is that a flashback? Is that an Iranian F-14 we're going to see? 'Cause how would we see Maverick flying one in the present?"
You should have. Iran has a fleet of them. Under the Shah, they were American allies.
The orchestrated version of „Highway to the Dangerzone“ from 1:18 onward is simply amazing. Thanks to the guy who pointed that out in an earlier version of this clip
wow i didn't even realise that until now
Wow
I didn’t notice that. Thank you
Same!!! I was amazed by the scene itself and the music was awesome. I didn't know about this version
Literally same! The same guy who pointed it out then I watched it again and caught it. Super cool
Now that is what you call one of the coolest start-ups of one of the coolest fighter jets ever to fly. Definitely the showcase and respect the 'F-14 Tomcat' deserves.
The F-14 is a damned fine looking aircraft.
F14 would have said this line..
“Anytime baby!!!!!”
The old Tomcat says "I've got one more good fight left in me. Let's do this!"
There is a reason they called them a "tom cat" Old and battle scarred but tough as nails and ready to deliver some punishment.
@@charlesmeaux3954 Also because every Grumman fighter since 1940 had some kind of cat name. 😃
I thought it was _really_ funny when the Navy did photo recon by putting camera pods on F-14s, and someone called that combination a
*Peeping Tomcat* 😆
@liquidleopard4495 Holy (expletive) -aware of film, "Hellcats of the Navy" - that carrier-based craft was a Grumman jam, wasn't it?
“Why are the wings coming out, Mav?” 😂👍🏼
"It can be"
"...Maverick!"
From "it can be" to " everything is possible"😉
"It CAN'T be..."
Mav proved them twice...... They thought the mission was impossible but it's not... They thought he's dead but is isn't....
*DCS Jester in the background: "DID YOU ARM YOUR EJECTION SEAT?????"
Just the safety pin is on it😂
Top gun is not a top gun without a mighty f14 tomcat
RIGHT ON!! Top Gun = Tomcat
(Tomcat gets parked in a shed, in a shithole failed state, next a runway that is getting wrecked with bombs)
Tomcat: why?
(Maverick jumps into the cockpit)
Tomcat: *FUCKING YESSS*
I didn't think the second Top Gun could ever be as good as the first one....Boy was I wrong....WAY wrong!
Such a sweet n yet badass tribute to F-14 ❤
I never get tired of watching this clip.
Warlock and Cyclone on the bridge when Maverick went airborne. Great scene!
And now we know why Rooster cannot eject. both are in such a hurry to get the Cat running, Mav did not even bother doing a checklist to make sure that their ejection seats were armed.
I remember something from a Russian movie with a similar problem. A MiG-15 pilot was having trouble with his engine and was ordered to eject, he tried to but couldn't due to the pin still in the seat, preventing the ejection. The engineer who was in charge would've gotten executed for forgetting such a thing but the pilot told him to hide the pin after he landed and gave his commanders an excuse that he didn't want to destroy an expensive yet magnificent plane.

What’s even more interesting is when they first start going, rooster is thrown back into his seat, yet they are only going 8 knots, which is 9 mph.
@@davidbrucemusicvideo It is acceleration, not velocity, which puts you back in the seat. Learn a physic.
DCS Tomcat player checkout
This is the scene that took this from a fun movie to a great movie for me.
Captain Jack Sparrow: were gonna commandeer that ship.
Maverick:
She might be old but still one of the sexiest bird out there
2:10 the "old"Lady shows Rooster the Power of an F-14 Tomcat^^
This movie was so fucking good. And damn the actors were incredible.
really glad they spent idk how many millions of their budget to do just these few minutes. makes it more authentic to watch
“It’s been a minute, huh, Mav?” 😎
Better movie than I thought it was going to be.
F-14 shooting down 2 SU-57 was the icing on the cake..
A cool detail here is how they forget to pull the pins for the ejector seat
I have never had so much emotion running through my body as i had during this movie in theaters having watched the first one when i was 7 years old. My wife couldnt understand it. The nostalgia was insane and to think this movie was made almost 40 years after the first one with the same main character and the combat he was in after schooling the best of the best in the navy was something else.
You think you got emotions? I was 20 when the first movie came out and I just joined the Army and I loved the movie so much that I tried to switch to the Navy but they told me I couldn't because i already made a contract with the Army and I had to wait, But when i figured I might not make at the Navy flight school I figured I was destine to be a grunt land lover! LOL!!!!
I stood and applauded in the theater when the Tom Cat taxied out of the hanger.
So cool
Nostalgia, nostalgia, nostalgia.. in writing class, they will not make it mandatory to include an element of nostalgia in all your stories if possible. Star Wars lives of it now..
Such a beautiful plane.
Don't push it. This is best way for the series (how ever short) to end. Serious doubts that another would be as good.
This is MY favorite Scene
Makes you smile thats for damn sure
Cyclone's face at the end🤣🤣
The way rooster says "mav?...." 🤣🤣🤣
Such a beautiful aircraft.
This scene right there is one of the best times in my life. So a week before me and my best bud go to watch this movie, we always have been loved aviation, especially the military one, and my friend here is a sociopath (for me lol). He always loves to see a cringe thing like the North Vietnamese airforce capturing the South Vietnamese F-5, Iranian F-4 and F-14 or the Taliban using a Blackhawk but I'm the opposite I hate those kinds of things and y'all probably know how things would end lol.....So for like a whole damn week before we went to see the movie, he had been talking about how he'd love to see the protagonist capture the F-14 and I'm just brushing it off every time and betting it'll never gonna happen in the film, YES IT DOES HAPPEN IN THE MOVIE LOL that scene his body just shaking with excitement that I've never seen him like that before and keep laughing meanwhile me is just in the denial mode like 3:06 lol. It was a great time but hey that F-14 scene is just PERFECT and I love it.
Your friend sounds a little edgy but I can’t argue with him. This scene was the shit!
This scene right there is one of the best times in your life?!?!, OMFG, you shuould travel, go out, laid something etc. Than your priorities for good time are going to change a bit :)
@@valmontv Thanks for the advice bro, I get it, but still why not? it was a great time with my friends we didn’t have much time going out together lately, I do really want to travel too especially Panhandle, West Texas and the Central Valley of California but I’m still a high school student from Thailand tho I’ll visit there someday!
I get it bro ;) Nice!
one of best bonus scenes in cinema history
the sexy gorgeous sleek F14... what a tribute!!!😍
Remember the f14a is an aircraft 50 years old.
This movie deserves $3 billion dollars
This film had me on the knees it’s unbelievable action emotion and excitement and pure nostalgia could watch it over and over thank you Tom xx
I love that movie
One of the few sequels that are worthy.
a better ending, Lou Gosset Jr. shows up in an F-16 and saves Maverick.
Iron Eagle!
Iron eagle 6: maverick. However I'm hoping for Charlie Sheen (hot shots)
USAF MAJ Gant (ret): "Did I ever tell you about a secret mission from 1982?"
@leonardpauca8184 That just MIGHT be lurking in Craig Thomas' last novel, "A Different War" - it's three books after "Firefox".
Magnificent story and perfectly cast and played out.
2 out of 2.
Lets hope for 3.
God damn, that is a sexy plane.
Crazy, no chocks on the wheels!
"DONGGGGGG" ... By God King! That's Taker's music!! He's here King! UNDERTAKER IS HERE!!!
2:36 The detail of the camera smearing with hydraulic fluid from the landing gear in front is impressive.
Nothing is as iconic as a f14. I mesn i love the F35 but the shaoe and swept wing design was baddass.
Pretty awesome how they worked in this F-14 Tomcat. I've not seen the movie yet. Evidently I need to soon!
My favorite scene in the entire movie is when it cuts to Hondo realizing Maverick is alive.
Would love a prequel with viper and mavericks dad
F-14…beautiful bird!
He might as well have looked at the camera whilst running and say, “Remember to see Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, in theaters July, 14th, 2023!”
He really should have said "I have a need...a need for SPEED!" as he was trying to take off from that taxi way lol.
Why did maverick need a ladder but rooster didn't? 😂
“This thing is so old” I legit thought the whole screen was missing until he fixes the fuse later. Looked like a black hole.
Beautiful plane
"You forgot one very important thing, man. I'm Maverick."
I like that added the Top Gun clips at the end of the video. VERY NICE
What a fantastic sequel!
Moment they said the enemy had F-14s they were clearly in Iran
They just didn't mention it directly to avoid causing an international PR disaster
Then they tried to obfuscate it with the made-up insignia and the Su-57 fighter. It's kinda impressive that Iran can fly F-14s without any tech support, and has done so since the '80s. (I don't know if they can operate more than 3 of them but, hey, I can't operate *one* ) The idea that they could afford or operate a 21st century semi-stealth plane is a bit of a stretch.
The F-4E Phantom is really the backbone of their air force.
@@liquidleopard4495 It's a franchise staple, the first move obfuscated identification too. This movie gives a single nation two mutually exclusive planes, so it's either partially an alt-universe Iran, or a fully alt-universe some other nation.
For sure thats only that country have a tomcat.😊
Yes lol😂
it may be old but it's still fast!
Ya can't beat a aviation Legend!!!
Am I the only one with chills
Fitting they made the cat the hero plane
Wouldn't have it any other way ❤
1:51 - Rooster's thinking "Wait, what?"
When I saw the trailers months ago I told myself Mav must be dead and his spirit is going to heaven in a Tomcat. I didn’t see any scenario where Maverick is flying a survivor Tomcat from the US inventory.
thats what I thought as well. when mav made his intention clear he was going to steal the tomcat ... my thought in the cinema was "give these writers a raise!"
I'm guessing the pilot that was assigned to the Tomcat was Chekov.
F 14 is faster, and engines have more thrust than F 18's No wonder Rooster went "holy shit" when the brakes were released.
I love the little details in this scene. like when Maverick takes off his gloves because he didn't wear them when he flew his tomcat.
Other things include the fact that they did a cold start and didn't knock out the pilot and rio and steal it. Once I seen Mav doing his outside checks, my dcs world experience kicked in and I( followed ever move after the power came on.
He missed a few steps and Rooster reallly missed a more than a few
@@pogo1140 given their situation I can forgive a few things. you don't need "everything" turned on to get airborne, and for Rooster, you can chalk it down to inexperience where Maverick could have just forgotten. (like arming the ejection seats, f14s are above the seat while f18s are near your legs) OR the movie's gotta movie for movie sake lol
Well Mav dont wear gloves to fly.. in the Hornet he doesnt either.. i guess he put them on for the cold weather after landing
@@pogo1140 No surprise Rooster couldnt eject later.. he didnt armed/prep the seat..
@@sparrowlt yep i missed that. might have been for just this mission then.
Strimple: "IMAX 4K!!"
Also Strimple: *uploads in 1080p*
Such a beautiful plane
I'm 7 yess. this is a feeling of over coming all odds.
Roster looked like a russsian soldier, he cannot be recognized 😂
Now Top Gun pass 1.403B and beat Avengers AOU for 12th all time box office history
This is exactly how mission impossible look like
I like the part that rooster says mav this is the taxiway not a runway 2:01
I never even saw the first top gun, and now this one is one of my favorite movies ever
So, you're going to see in now, right? 😁
If you thought _anything_ in this movie was a bit silly, or defied belief, just be aware that it's not any sillier than the first one. Maverick's career shouldn't have lasted to the start of the movie, and there's no such thing as a MiG-28, but otherwise it was kinda realistic. 😃
Totally genuine, even as the motion of the canopy coming down. No flaps at all on a short t/o would be unwise. But the only grave error: only 40psi is needed to crank up the ol' Turkeys. Phantoms were the highest start at 80psi.120psi would blow all the gaskets out in those ol' Pratt & Witney TF-30's.
Maverick arrives back at Miramar and says to himself: "Well Penny, im home".
?: "Not so fast Mav, Iceman wasn't your only fan. And for the record? I miss Kazansky too."
Maverick: "Look I think you got the wrong guy, im retired don't you know?"
?: "Hands Maverick a manila envelope." You sure? Tell you what, follow the map to Edwards, IF your interested".
Who are...... you?
Later that day: "You think he'll bite?" Of course he will, and Marine General Ron "Slider" Kerner rises from his desk and looks out the window. Maverick is a dinosaur, an anachronism from another time and another method of warfare. I myself am as well. Tom used to tell me about him, about his adventures. The man's a goddamn hero many times over. And we need him. By the way? How's our kitty doing?
Naval Commander Powell: She purring right now, God save us when we unleash her. And as General Kerner looks over the majestic bird, a pang of nostalgia hits. You know I flew RIO with Iceman in an earlier version of this aircraft? I didn't know that? Said Powell. Yep, and this bird, she represents nearly 40 years of advancing technology and refinement. Well sir? The F-14 Super Tomcar 21ST is nothing like what you were familiar with sir. This bird is stare of the art! Said Powell rather proudly. Larger, more efficient engines, 1650 knots top speed, vectored thrust for tighter flying, lighter materials for the wings. And sir? Even the wings are coated in these special sensors all over. We can achieve sensor fusion with up to 50 aircraft. And the best part? They're actually 3 crew sir. The pilot, the RIO, and an AI coordinator whose sole job is to integrate all Intel and use this aircraft to distribute information throughout the Strike Package. The Super Tomcat, she's an AWACS/Fighter/Attack/refueler all in one powerful and deadly machine.
Slider: And the only pilot(s) that can get the most out of this machine? Is Maverick and his band of merry misfits. Have you pulled their files? Yes sir!! Said Commander Powell. Good, yank every one of Robin Hood's students and get them here! We have little time. Also? I want Bradley Bradford erm..Rooster to undergo RIO training. I want him babysitting grampa when we get this team assembled. Sir? Will all due respect? Don't you think you are a little hard on Pete Mitchell? I mean sir? He's considered a legend. Slider laughed. Why did you think I picked him to lead this Dirty Dozen? We need pilots Powell! People we can trust, and I assure you Powell, I have the deepest respect for Maverick. Now get started!!
Maverick is john wick of air force lol
Love they still used a tomcat in the movie
The alarm sound effects is same from men of courage
1:22 "Maverick says "Watch your mouth son!"
2:40
Hey rooster’s very excited at the back. He must’ve wanted to get into an f 14 from a long time.
considering its the jet that killed his father probably not much
@@sparrowlt that’s what
God this movie was so awesome
This is the moment that Tom Cruise became Heisenberg.
"Alright, sweetheart. One last ride."
@Jayjay-qe6um That was a message sent to many viewers.
Long live the Tomcat
damn this movie so beautiful
Love the movie. Just wish they would have altered the scene. Instead of the girl stating overwatch confirmed an F-14 was airborne and on approach to the aircraft carrier more into a question like what they just told me can't be true. How is that even possible sirs.
Iirc during ww2 some escaped British pilots really did try to steal a german aircraft 😂
"it can't be, it can't be" "Maverick."
When Rooster activated his "ESAT" (GPS-based locator?), I thought, "E.T. phone home."
