I just want to say for those who find this video and have not gotten their piercings yet. 1.) You should always receive a full explanation before and after getting your piercing. 2.) The shop should be clean and customer service should be attentive and follow procedures. 3.) I would recommend flipping the piercing upward to heal for the first 3 weeks of having it. 4.) whomever does your piercings should NOT use a gun. All piercing equipment should be opened while you are there and NOT PREUSED OR ALREADY OPENED. And they should sterilized. whomever does your piercing should give good attention to where his marks are placed and should change gloves when appropriate. 5.) @@no-ul2mg Like a microfiber cloth? I wouldn't ask someone like me for advice on this. I'm not a piercer, just a CNA in training who loves body modification. That being said, a rag might work, as long as the fibers in it are very, VERY tiny. You'd want to reduce the amount of damage to the injury while it heals so the smoother the item used to clean it, the better. You'll want to avoid the risk of snagging anything on the scabs and bits of jewelry and any jagged, uneven skin. If you use a cloth, be sure to wash it thoroughly after every use, using a fragrance-free soap. (I forgot about this "rule," and I realized that my nose started to get really painfully irritated when I started using a soap with fragrance in it. After I switched back to a fragrance-free face wash, the irritation went away.) I'd suggest washing it by hand as well, as machine washing can damage fibers a lot quicker. For my own piercing, what has worked for me is just not using any third-party items. I just use my own fingers. lol Since my nostrils are really small though, I can only really use my pinky fingertips. PS: I love your username. lol
@@no-ul2mg I just got mine done 3 days ago and I was told just use a qtip and dip that in saline solution that you get from the drugs store, it's been doing really well thus far- dont need to "soak" it, just clean it and get the crusties off, reposition and leave it until the next cleaning- just be gentle. Also was told don't flip it up if I don't have to- and I don't so I'm not going to until it's all healed. I don't really have many crusties, not like the first day.
I heard the only difference is if you move it takes longer to heal and the longer it takes to heal the more oppertunity for infection. I'm about to get mine this week ☺
I've done that too,I got mine today and started gently moving it back and forth through the hole while I was cleaning it and then I saw some videos and threads discussing to not do that and I was like oh shit >_< our piercings will probably be okay though, just keep cleaning it and eat lots of healthy food!

I've had my septum pierced for about a month now and I just went to get it changed to a smaller circular barbell. I have a bump on the left side and I've been doing salt soaks and when I don't have time I swab it really well with the solution. I started using tea tree oil to help because people told me it would. Hana Shoib I was advised to use warm water and saleen salution and nothing else. Seasalt seems to work better
thatsmydawg They are the same thing.
Straight to the point love it
thank so much for that information
Watching this during coronavirus outbreak water is not easy to find🤦♀️
Boil water and put it in a bottle of some sort and use it when needed
Taylor Bear is that good enough ?
@@areiaynacraig9567 if you for some reason can't find distilled water (which isnt hard to get) it should do.
Just don't do the treatment right after boiling lol
BAHAHAH GOTTEM
Ur not to consume distilled water
Spontaneously got a septum piercing and now I'm panicking as don't know how to look after it 😂😂
Literally same, I decided last night and then got it done this morning
@@Larry259 same
My friend was supposed to get one but they chickened out and I ended up with one instead.
Same im going to go get some stuff tomorrow 💀
ME!! Im freaking out!! I got it yesterday for my birthday impulsively
Made my appointment like 2 days ago and have a few hours until going in. And I'm just now watching stuff like this
Love simple and straight to the point this video was big facts
Dude, I got mine pierced today and it hurt SO BAD! I’ve got my lip pierced and it didn’t hurt at all but this was absolutely the worst pain I’ve felt aside from giving birth. I literally felt like she was ripping through my nose.
He most likely went through your cartilage because it’s not supposed to hurt that bad
@@emilyb7423 some people just have painful septum piercings. mine didnt go through cartilage and it hurt really bad but thats gonna happen for some people :)
@@anna2k_ no, proper septums go through the skin, and that flap has very little nerves there. The septum is one of the most painless piercings, literally on par with a lobe. If it hurts it's because the piercer went through cartilage.
@@cjmattrocks shit i got mine pierced 2 days ago and it literally felt like someone was ripping open my skin lmao. ive heard that it's supposed to just feel like a small pinch and that u gotta sneeze, but mine definitely did Not feel like that. i think my piercer definitely went through cartilage in that case bahaha
@@cjmattrocks I got mine pierced today & it hurt baddd but I have a deviated septum..it shocked me tbh.. he didn’t tell me he was going to have to pierce it super slow to make sure it was straight (bc of my deviated septum) so it was awful:(
My piercer told me to use a Saline Wound Wash for 2-3 days for the next 6-8 weeks, so far no issues and I'm going on 1 week of healing. It still has a tingle/sting when I'm cleaning it.
That’s what mine told me and I’m not allowed to touch it at all and I just got mine
Wow your really educated. Thank you♥
Just got mine today, thanks a lot
i had my septum pierced like 4 days ago and then today i just had to have it changed because i had an allergic reaction to the jewellery 😁😁 yay! it hurt like hell to get it changed but now i hope it's on the way to healing !!!
Oh man, I bet, I just got mine done 12 hours ago, and it hurts like HELL when I accidentally knock it
I just got mine done a few days ago and I like to take a cotton ball and soak it in saline and rip it in half and put one half in each of my nostrils for 15 minutes. A lot easier than sitting with my nose in a cup!
Doing that could get cotton stuck in the piercing/in the blood though, and it could increase the risk of infection. :/
@@Cardiax can i use a rag? like a rag that is smooth, that won't get caught on the septum
@@no-ul2mg Like a microfiber cloth?
Gauze works for this too
It’s a good thing I saw this video as soon as I came home 😅
thank you this video really calmed me down lol i was so paranoid
same lol
Just got mine yesterday but I can straighten it with my upper lip, with some practice I think I may be able to flip it up too
I gave up on straightening it a long time ago.
literally my piercer said just to wash mine w warm water 2 or three times a day. something about not putting chemicals up your nose
Thank you for this video
Great video! I have a question: how long should I have to use the salt process?
Just pierced my septum. Glad I found this video
Did it infect
Nope. Luckily I pierced the sweet spot 🤪
@@TinaMUFC10 I think mines infected but idk even tho I pierced it in the right place
it’s been about 3-4 weeks sonde i got mine pierced and it doesn’t hurt at all! it’s very comfortable and i’m glad mine was pierced very well!
I'm getting my septum pierced tomorrow. I'm so excited. I've wanted this for years.
Did ya do it ?
@@saawanirangare5261 i sure as fuck did!
Going to you to get mine done soon!
I got my septum pierced a few days ago and was told to move it around and now im worrying ive messed it up🤐
Don't worry it'll be fine. I've been touching mine since I got it on the first day.
Edit: And it's healed up nicely might I add.
Princess Mel right!!
I got my septum pierced 2 days ago and my piercer told me to keep it up and to only flip it down whenever I'm cleaning it (she recommended 2-3 times/day) my nose is kinda swollen and she told me to use 70% alcohol - antiseptic alcohol - to clean it (i don't know if you've heard it before but it's meant to be used in hospitals to sterilize things and bruises) so should I really flip it down when cleaning it? cause throughout the day i noticed that there are crusts and a bit of blood that's already dried out
ps: sorry about any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language 😊
so thankful for you
This video helped im geting mine done soon
I've had my septum pierced for about a month now and I just went to get it changed to a smaller circular barbell. I have a bump on the left side and I've been doing salt soaks and when I don't have time I swab it really well with the solution. I started using tea tree oil to help because people told me it would. How long will it take to go away? I can't wear it at school and it is slightly painful to flip up on the one side. Do you have any advice to get rid of the piercing bump?
following for future advice lol im thinking about getting mine done lol i can afford it, its deciding whether i want to afford it haha
for the future (if you haven't already done the piercing), don't use tea tree oil or oil at all with bumps. it doesn't help, irritation bumps will dry up and fall off on their own @@ryansmith8574
so... no soap? just salt water soak?
Thank you very much.
Thank you so much

Thank you!
Thanks for this i just got mines 2 weeks ago
i got my septum pierced 8/14, and the place is really well known for being the best piercing place in my area. the guy told me that i didnt need to do anything other than get rid of any gunk on it. i asked about salt water soaks, and he told me that the salt would just dry out my mucus membranes and not to use it. but everywhere ive read on the internet says to do them. i havent had any problems other than soreness, though i have been cleaning it with water. any advice about soaking vs not soaking?
I’ve had my septum pierced for like 3-4 days now and my piercer told me to use neosporin and saline solution, I’ve also had a strong itching sensation for the past two nights but it only comes in at night and doesnt last all night. Any suggestions or corrections for this?
honestly, i've gotten the itch with all of my piercings. when it's healed it will go away.
Thank you for the video! Why does the water need to be warmed up?
You’re awesome , thanks
