This is why one shouldn't get inorganic subscribers or viewers aren't really interested in your content, or they won't watch your content/video when you upload. This affects the success of your videos.

I had slightly pivoted on a few of my latest videos, and though they were still in the make money online topic, (LOL, notice I didn't say Niche), Those videos were not the usual topic that got the most view. I was trying to appeal to new viewers instead of feeding my current viewers what they wanted. I know what I have to do now. Thank you so much. I was getting really worried. Its amazing that the algorithm uses the subscribers views and their reaction as the key factor. Makes sense to build a strong foundation.

OK so it makes sense that regular/returning viewers have a contribution for YT pushing out videos to new audiences if they liked the video. But which video(s) will be pushed out? The one that had good retention from the regulars? What about the older videos in inventory - do they get a boost too? Or is it just the one that was successful with the regular viewers?

Quick question. I like to promote my videos through an external website called discord. Does getting veiws through external sources affect the alg in any way? Thanks!
That's a good question. Did you end up finding the answer to it elsewhere? I'm contemplating if posting videos on other social platforms including Reddit is beneficial or not. I heard about the 24-48 hour theory where if you get more views or engagement in that timeframe when releasing a video, it pushes out your content more.

Great, so to get recommended I need my viewers to watch my videos, and to get viewers to watch my videos I need to get recommended. Growing on CZcams feels like a game of chance and takes a very long time. I have seen channels that make excellent content but don't seem to grow, and I have seen channels that have thumbnails from the video and terrible quality that seem to grow at a fast rate. I am not sure there is any way to really pin down what CZcams actually uses to recommend our videos. If their primary method is seeing how subscribers interact in the first hour, that doesn't bode well for channels with few or no subscribers getting recommended. The best I can tell, CZcams looks at how many videos you have published and how recently you have published to get an idea of what your channel covers, then recommends to people that seem to have an interest in the content you are making. This would explain how a small channel grows and why it takes so long. Once you have subscribers, then they start using the metrics to expand how many people they show your content to that have not seen it before, but until you have subscribers they cannot use that metric since there is no one there to watch.

I changed my titles to less robotic youtube search based titles ...... to something more flashy and entertaining to the topic. My suggested videos went from 2.5% to 20%
So recommended is the way to go!
@@Sportsmonkey Did you look at where that suggested traffic is coming from? Was it search or home page, and was it your subscribers or new viewers? I ask because just the % doesn't say much as far as whether you increased the new viewers showing up and subscribing. Your niche also factors in, as in how many people are interested in whatever videos you are making.
@@Sportsmonkey sounds good. We keep getting told to use regular phrases so YT will pick it up but it is very narrow and restricting and frankly, a bit boring
get the paid version of tubebuddy and it'll tell you which tags and titles to use that are the most popular and also have the least amount of competition. Annie has a whole video dedicated to using tubebuddy. The first 2-3 years on CZcams will be slow, but once you've gotten to like 3000 subs your videos will start gaining momentum and will keep growing until one of them goes viral, then the next. The key is to KEEP POSTING. And try to be consistent. Just don't give up. ☺️

Thanks Annie - a really clear explanation - I posted a video on my channel recently that was a bit different and it didn't do well - I expect it is because my existing subs did not engage as much with it and hence the lower view count. This does make it harder to successfully experiment with new approaches it seems.

Look, here's the thing. I would love to see Annie's pov, or anyone else's too. I'm really tired of big youtubers saying "ThIs iS NoT lUcK", because I think that's BS, and it isn't only that I'm jealous of the following type of youtubers (which I totally am), but because I've experienced it myself.
Okay. I uploaded a video 4 years ago, put literally zero effort in it, it didn't even have a thumbnail until this year, it was my first video and I had NO AUDIENCE, still managed to get 150k views and a bunch of subscribers. Now, this year, I thought I will give my channel a shot, and started taking it way more seriously, making good content (about things that I know are really popular, and searchable, and attractive), customizing my thumbnails, working on SEO.
And for what? I'm not even reaching 100 views per video. While other youtubers that make similar content reach 100k views and 1000 subscribers in one week or so. By the way, I'm talking about small and new creators, not the big ones, I've seen that a lot. I've seen new channels with 5 videos with topics really similar to mine, blow up in no time, while I'm struggling this much.
It's so outrageous. I mean, I love my channel, I only do videos about topics that I'm passionate about, but I want to grow my channel, I think I deserve a little more than no new subscribers for the last month. Can anyone enlighten me please? Anyone has suggestions? I would gladly take them into account, because I've spent hours and hours watching videos about growing channels and applying those tips, really for nothing, and just to see (and experience first hand, too) that the most effortless videos are the ones that really blow up on YT.
