I have to figure out my targeted audience. That’s such a great point you mentioned. If you get subscribers wanting to only see a certain type of topic, you want to be sure that’s the content you want to make
long term. That is so helpful Annie thank you!
I had this problem. One of my videos where I discuss laser hair removal (I’m a nurse) got so much more views then all my other videos, but this isn’t really the content I want to focus on, yet if people expect that type of content from me..
so now I’m being strategic. Although narrowing down has been difficult, I find it’s essential for long term maintenance of subs and CZcams career.
I think niching down too far and building a super targeted audience is a mistake I made with my own channel that I'm still trying to fix

Thanks Annie! After my SA zoo video blew up, I didn't know how or why. I really didn't know what to do to make it happen with my other videos. Now I'm focusing on producing more Zoo videos and aiming them at the right people. You rock!
One thing I struggle with is the fact that I don't only want to do Zoo videos. So I guess I have to find a balance or a way to have my viewers relate to my other videos in the future.

I hate doing the same videos over and over which is why I started a lifestyle vlog. One of my recent videos is hitting based on advice and lifestyle. I hurried up and put a clothing haul up after so the new audience is clear that I am a jumbled mess. Ok back on basic views, tomorrow I'll put up a video based on advice lifestyle again. This is why I started a vlog to fluctuate. It's finally working!!

This is such a great video. the last point especially hits close to home. I recently uploaded a video that reached 10k views and a lot of my new subscribers have shown interest in more of that type of content. So this last weekend, i record 2 videos focusing on that topic. but after reviewing the footage, i realized that that was not the type of content i felt inspired to make at all. and i would hate to draw an audience in who are interested in that specific topic. I decided recently to stick with content that i love (and that i know others love to but it just wont "blow up" like that one did :(
I think from talking to a lot of creators, this is one of the most common mistake a lot of us make!
