I love how social media platforms are starting to value engagement metrics instead of just views and likes. Even Instagram is starting to care more about how content creators are managing to keep people on the platform instead of just having followers and likes.
I think is going to reduce the amount of people that do stupid and unethical things just to get attention and start pushing the once that offer true value. 🙆🏻♀️

I find that more people are chasing watch time than subscribers and views in the early stages of a youtube channel.
I don't know that I'd say that. I get about a 100 messages a day from people complaining about lack of subs and views. New CZcamsrs are still WAY too obsessed with vanity metrics

OMG that’s so crazy! I was wondering why my video (coffee for hair) was getting views! I mean, I’m grateful for the views but I was getting more than I usually get for this particular video and I knew that CZcams was pushing it out but I didn’t know why. With this video, Annie is explaining that the focus group thing is what probably did it and I believe that wholeheartedly. That’s so crazy! And I never knew about the whole session thing. That makes total sense though!
That is great about your video :) I love how she is explaining this in this video. There could be a method of receiving more rewatches. It is great that she mentions session time. I like using playlist.

What's the BIGGEST thing to grow your channel? VALUE. If you post quality content that adds value into peoples lives, at least once a week, for at least a year, you will GROW. I remember watching a video by Ali Abdaal and he said those exact words and it's honestly one of the most motivating things I've heard that gets me uploading consistently.

I agree! And I’ve seen it. Vlogging is super hard to grow at. I stopped random vlogs and started showing the actual city, rooms and resorts and I noticed way higher retention and views. It is also more google friendly long term. Although I have a lifestyle channel and can’t travel all the time those videos do better I noticed as far as retention.

So apparently my CTR is good but my retention can use some work lol. I've had some videos above 50% but I'm finding that as my channel grows, my retention is going down. Makes no sense to me! lol.

I am using her tips from the pass one week and i can see that's is a change. I literally had 1 subscribe for a month and i was doing everything to grow, but i was unsuccessful. Recently, i came across her channel and i gained 25 subscribers in one week.

Hey Annie,
The audience retention on my videos has recently gone for a toss. Earlier, the same videos had a retention of about 40% and in the past 1 week it has come down to 10%
I think this is because I have started commenting on more videos (genuine comments) and people find my channel that way.
This has increased my subscriber count, but for some reason these new people only watch 20 seconds of my videos, leave a comment and then move on, which is seriously affecting my retention and CZcams has stopped promoting my videos.
Can you pls give me some advice on this matter?

Oh wow that's a good question.
I think things like commenting on videos is great for more passive growth. But if you REALLY wanna hit that and get subscribers who are going to show up EVERY time, watch your videos, engage with them and help you grow, only organic growth will get you there x

My philosophy is that as long as people comment on my videos saying they've never heard this before and no one else has said this before, I will keep making these videos. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch my videos. If you find it repetitive, you can simply leave the video and your comment is no more necessary than that x
