It says "The signature is too long"! What do I do?
- Your image might be too large. Ensure that it's a proper size (I used 100x100 px and 21 KB).
White border looks bad in Dark Mode. How can I fix that?
- You can select no color for the border in Google Sheets.
How to resize rows?
You can click and drag the edge of a row to resize it. In other words, move the mouse over the grey line under the row number (e.g. 2) then click and drag to resize.

This worked so well, thanks! Only issue is that when I tested it on my phone (that has dark mode on) the table outline comes up! Any suggestions for how to get it so the outline doesn't come up on a light OR dark bg? I tried just removing the outline but unfortunately that didn't work.
Good question. You can make the border have no color in Google Sheets.

I managed to follow your instructions. Looks good in the Gmail signature settings and in the draft email. But what the recipient sees or myself if I look at the sent email is different. The dividing line is twice as long at the top. Any ideas?

I have mine like I want it on my desktop version of gmail but my phone seems to only be able to do a much more simple signature

My sense is data science is in greater demand, since there is a significant portion of data work in business that doesn't include production models.

I appreciate this very much! Sadly, I am running into Gmail messages that signature is too long. Are image sizes responsible? Will shrinking social media icons further or head shot solve this issue?
Reducing the image size worked for me, maybe try experimenting with that

Hi Shaw! I heard that you may need to use code/html to ensure that email signatures are compatible when sending to different email platforms (gmail/outlook/etc.). Any tips for this? Have you had any issues with people viewing your email signatures after you created your design?
I haven't run into any issues like that, but I'm sure using HTML would lead to better formatting across platforms.
Well I got lost on step 1 lol....I can't seem to get the cell to be big and square like yours...

Often the culprit is the image. You can try 1) ensuring the image is a reasonable size (I use 100x100 here) and 2) troubleshooting by building signature element by element to see where issue is coming from.
What are those two dashes/underscores that appear above the image? Why do they appear? I am getting them.
That is an automatic divider added by Gmail to any email signature
Hi Shawn, I’m trying to create a signature for Business Gmail address. I followed your CZcams tutorial exactly, but when I save changes… I get a message that says..” Signature too large.” It says at the outset that there is only 320 characters???
Not sure what's going wrong without seeing it. You can try troubleshooting by removing elements one by one, until you don't get the error. For me, using a smaller image fixed this issue.
Great video, but I'm finding the headshot WILL NOT fit properly. The original photo is too big, but when I edit the image size, it lowers the quality. What program do you recommend for creating the right picture size?
Good question. I had the same issue. I ended up taking a screenshot of (a smaller part of) my high resolution picture and used that.

Yes it will! You can alternatively go with a transparent border.
Thank you for this! But, no matter what I do when I upload my image to gmail signature it's blurry. I did a custom email signature from canva at 400x200px and its blurry and now just uploaded just the headshot 100x100px still blurry. I have a pro canva account...i don't get it.
It sounds like your email sig might be too big. The source below says 80 x 200 pixels is ideal for an image in Gmail.

what i did was do everything the way Shawhin did it (used the 100x100 in excel) but when I imported the headshot in later on, I used a 500x500 image and set it to small. This way it wasn't blurry.
Thanks for the video! I was mostly able to get it working . The problem I have is that the picture shows as a broken link when sent. It looks fine in the preview. I've tried 1. Linking from my website a photo thats 100 by 100 px. 2. Uploading a 100 by 100 px with a kb of 9. I'm not sure what else to do. Any suggestions?
Not sure what could be going wrong. Even the upload didn't work? Maybe you can try troubleshooting with different headshot sizes.
@ShawhinTalebi it's weird I cleared the cache, rebooted the computer and it worked 🤷🏾♀️
As I reduced my picture and made it 100x100 px my picture became blur, how to solve it?
My workaround for this was taking a screenshot of my shoulder + head in high quality photo. However, there might be specialized tools to do this without losing too much quality.

You make need to try importing the images via a url
Does the white boarder show up on dark mode gmail, why not remove boarder color?

You can click + hold and drag the edge of the cell label.
When the signature is viewed in dark mode, the cell outline box is visible again, is there a way around this?
You can set the border as "no color" in Google Sheets.

I used Canva. You can also use Microsoft PowerPoint.
no matter what I do the picture turns out blurry, I tried 100x100, 80x80 and 500x500 and setting to small :( can anyone have an idea why it turns out like this?

Sorry it's not working, not sure what could be going wrong. Maybe you can make the sig in Google sheets and just paste it over.

I haven’t tried that but I don’t see why not. You will need to be mindful of the signature size.
How can I get the source code of the signature so I can give it to someone else
One way is to highlight the signature, right-click, then select "inspect". This should open up source HTML code which you can copy-paste.
However, it might be simpler to just copy-paste the signature directly into a Google Doc and share it that way

Perhaps try playing around with different image sizes to troubleshoot.

You can adjust the cell size in Google sheets by clicking and dragging the edges of the row/column labels.

The image might be too big. You can try using a smaller image. I took a screenshot of my image to reduce the size.
